I bought a case of migras for this year and ive been disappointed in the quality of the shell holes.. i hunt salt water bays in texas and the shells rust a lot quicker than other shells and ive experienced some of the shells were swelled causing them to not go into my shotgun. I contacted migra and got a call from customer support and the guy i talked to was really cool and we talked about hunting for a while and they replaced the shells that were swelled from the day i bought them (more have swelled since then) either way theyre a new company and they really felt bad and wanted to help so that says something! Hopefully they improve the holes for next year becuase theyre good dudes who love to hunt just like us
Can you please do a video on the 12 ga Migra timber plus 4/6 steel and bismuth shells? I can't find literally any info on them and would like a review please. Your review would be the first on the internet.
Maybe if I can find some. They are a short range load for sure. Probably designed to open up faster with open chokes to hit ducks in tight quarters. The standard 40 yard testing battery likely wouldn't be super helpful. They aren't going to be very lethal at that range.
I really liked the Kent fast steel in 3.5" I believe 3 or 2 shot. I always was able to connect with ducks and geese. Problem I have had recently in the last 3 years is finding it plus the price too has sky rocketed with shells.
I would like to see the difference between the 2/4 stack load as compared to just using #3 shot. It seems to me that it would perform better overall. You always do such a great job on these videos. Thanks for your hard work. Longtime subscriber.
Agreed! Even though I just had a misfire for the first time in the 5-7 years I’ve been using Kent. Later on cut it open and see moisture got into it. It didn’t help that shell had been in my blind bag for 2/3 seasons.
Great content as always George, I would like to see a video comparing the Fiocchi Golden Waterfowl up against some Kent shells. Not any particular shot size, maybe just a couple different ones. Thanks dude!!
First thing I noticed was the kent shell said 1450 fps. I've enjoyed shooting both of these brands stacked loads this season. You had some crazy results with pellet count and on paper which I might have try for myself now ha
Can you compare BB vs #2 vs #4 in leathality in steel and bismuth. I have been shooting steel BB for geese and switched to #4 bismuth for ducks but on my last duck hunt i shot 2 geese at 35 yards with a modified choke with #4 bismuth. It stoned them both dead. Now i am thinking about just using #4 till i run out then maybe getting #2 bismuth. Just dont like having two types of ammo. Most of the time i am hunting geese and ducks.
Thanks for the reply. Love the videos. Just watched you video you recommended answers a lot of questions for me. I think i am a bismuth man from this point on. Dropping those geese with #4 was impressive.
I've had great luck with the Fasteel+, except the chamfer they put on the back edge of the shell rim causes them to double feed in my 870. Pretty annoying.
I'm skeptical with how hard stacked loads are marketed. Boss does it right, it's just another size option. Other companies build all these claims and sub brands around it, and it may or may not make any difference.
I think with Migra overloading the shell, it actually lowered the performance and that's why they didn't do as well. Higher payload will be slower than the FPS advertised. I think the only other question with this would be do the Migra pattern better with a different choke because of the pellet count difference, leading to a poor test for them. Would be worth a test in the future to verify if you used the best choke for that ammo
I think you should try some 2/4s out in the field. 2/4s can get more penetration and carry while carrying and delivering more energy on birds than 3s while maintaining a similar pattern as 3s. I think you can really tell a difference when shooting birds. I have buddies who don’t shoot any other load and fold geese all day long. Gave me confidence in the load after seeing a buddy fold goose after goose with some being farther than I would trust straight bb or 2s. Almost every spot I hunt you’ll see teal and geese in the same day and the 2/4s give me more confidence for taking both.
@ most of my friends that aren’t shooting 2/4s shoot 3s. When teal dive you just try to center em can’t really do much else when you know geese can show up. I shoot 4s when goose and duck season aren’t overlapping but they usually are in my state. Don’t like to use them when the season overlap cuz they struggle to kill geese.
1) you really need to fire more than 1 shot per shell at pattern sheets, I’d typically do a minimum of 3 separate shots & targets for each shell you are testing. That gives you a bit better picture on how consistent each load/choke combo is performing. 2) 50fps difference at the muzzle would account to basically 0 difference at 40 yards, so the energy of the two would be near enough to the same. 3) one explanation for the kent preforming better on the gel test could be the Zink platng? Possibly smother finish on the pallets, causing less air restriction, possibly allowing it to retain some velocity. And less gel restriction once the shot gets there..
3x the shells would be 3x the paper, counting, editing and time in general. These videos already take hours to produce. I'll leave that to someone else who doesn't work full time to take up lol
@TheNewHuntersGuide you leave it open to to many variables by just firing 1 shot. For your own interest, just fire 3 shots at 3 separate sheets and see the variance you'll get from shot to shot. The small differences you find in your tests could easily be switched between the two different types testing. Imo, a 1~3% victory is not enough to call a win when you've got such a small sample size of 1 shot per load. But, I can appreciate the time this all takes. I Don't film or edit and it still takes me a long time to carry out pattern testing.
Are you reading my mind or what? Everytime I think of something new to compare I get on here and you have a new video on it 😂 keep it up!
Haha, awesome!
Great as always George!
Thanks so much!
Thanks for reaffirming my belief that Kent makes tremendous shot shells.
Thanks for watching! They do make good stuff!
Thanks!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it!
Great content, George!
Thanks so much!
Great video George! I finally received my 10 chokes from TruLock. Can’t wait to get to testing!
Glad to hear it, and thank you so much!

Ouch, sorry to hear that. I hope that get works out.
Happy NY George and thx for the video.
la fasteel est très appréciée ici en France par les chasseurs de canard.
Good video George. I ordered a set of Tetra's and mentioned your videos to the guys there.
Thanks so much! Hope they are as much of a game changer for you as they have been for me!
@@TheNewHuntersGuide Can you make a comparison of stacked steel against regular. I would like to see a comparison of the 2/4 against #3 in fast steel.

I personally like them, but it's definitely best in that 20-30 yard range, but I keep a few on hand to clean up cripples too.
@underthetrees4780 i was hoping for that kinda 40 yrd max range with the bismuth
Maybe if I can find some. They are a short range load for sure. Probably designed to open up faster with open chokes to hit ducks in tight quarters. The standard 40 yard testing battery likely wouldn't be super helpful. They aren't going to be very lethal at that range.
@TheNewHuntersGuide bass pro has them available now. I would love to see how this type of shell could be useful since there is no info on it at all.
Toujours du bon travail, bonjour de France 🇫🇷
Thank you so much!
I really like those kent stack loads.
They seem to work nice.

New 9%’er. Happy new year
Thank you so much!

He did a video on that
@scottbryant6349 lol. I went and dug a little deeper and found that video. Thanks for the heads up though.
Thanks!
The cost of the Kent and the performance I think you can’t beat it. I have never had a misfire or stovepipe with them either. Great shell
Agreed! Even though I just had a misfire for the first time in the 5-7 years I’ve been using Kent. Later on cut it open and see moisture got into it. It didn’t help that shell had been in my blind bag for 2/3 seasons.
Also 3” 3s in 1 3/8oz at 1300 fps with a Jebs .690 is absolutely crazy on paper and it translates to the field well
Yea they make good stuff.
Great content as always George, I would like to see a video comparing the Fiocchi Golden Waterfowl up against some Kent shells. Not any particular shot size, maybe just a couple different ones. Thanks dude!!
Thanks so much! I think I did that recently, with their bismuth loads.
First thing I noticed was the kent shell said 1450 fps. I've enjoyed shooting both of these brands stacked loads this season. You had some crazy results with pellet count and on paper which I might have try for myself now ha
Yea, I said the wrong velocity number on camera. Which just makes the results even more interesting.

I've made a few videos comparing those, some of the earlier ones I believe.

The migra jammed up my 870 a few times. Only time big rem ever jammed
Before or after shooting?
I've had great luck with the Fasteel+, except the chamfer they put on the back edge of the shell rim causes them to double feed in my 870. Pretty annoying.
That's odd. Been fine for me so far.
Can you pattern test different migra blends please!
I'd like to, but this one is all I have for now.
The Kent shell you take your first shot with says 1450 fps on the hull.
And you are right. I didnt notice. I used the 2.0 numbers instead of the +. That makes its performance all the more impressive.
@TheNewHuntersGuide I've also seen that less fps does usually translate into tighter patterns based on other people's tests
Thank you George, so you have a low tolerance for marketing hipe what do you think is it hipe? God bless you and go get them in the marsh
I'm skeptical with how hard stacked loads are marketed. Boss does it right, it's just another size option. Other companies build all these claims and sub brands around it, and it may or may not make any difference.

That's a good point. Makes some sense.
Maybe weigh a pellet of similar size from each for comparison?
I don't think my scale is sensitive enough to compare one single pellet to another in a meaningful way.

Kent fast steel, shot a box a few years ago, without doubt the loudest shell ever produced. 💥😖
I have not noticed an increase in volume, although I never hear the shots with the Tetra's.
Migra patterned better for me out of a .705dia mod choke. It didn't like .690dia full.
Interesting. That is possible. Maybe I'll test it more if this video is popular
❤

Test flight day premium bismuth loads
I hope to!
Not a fan of thy migra shells had lots of failure to fire with those shells so did a few of my buddies. They are junk poor quality control!
Ouch, that's not good.
@TheNewHuntersGuide cost me a stud blue wing teal
