gosh i cannot thank you enough for posting this video. So many dorm tour videos talk about their belongings and stuff they bought for their room versus ACTUALLY showing us the room. Most informational video ive seen yet. Thank you again.
No problem! Thanks for watching!
Vanessa! Thanks for this. I am a UF alum and lived in Beatty in the late 1980s. Surprisingly, it looks about 90% the same. The only thing that looks different in the rooms is the closets. We had built-in closets with doors and 2 rows of drawers across the entire bottom. Wonder why they were "upgraded" to doorless? When you were about to walk in the bathroom, I said to myself, "I wonder if they still have that drab prison tile? 😄 Sure enough, the bathroom hadn't changed one bit! Same. The kitchen appliances and cabinets didn't even change much from how I remember them.
We also had the "Pod Market" though it wasn't called that then and yes even then it was pricey, but so convenient. I remember spending too much in there on frozen meals, ice cream and other snacks. We could use our Gator Dining mealcard for purchases. Laundry room was basically same just more modern machines though we also had laundry cards for the machines then. Don't think we had the lobby "classroom" then. We did have the gameroom. This was a nice trip down memory lane. 🤗
Hi K C,
Thank you so much for watching! I love hearing from Gator Alums how things were during their undergrad years. I’m surprised that things stayed almost exactly the same. When I moved in, I thought it was an upgrade from other dorms. I guess if it ain’t broke, no need to fix it 😂. Glad that this video brought back some good memories. Hopefully you can come back to the Swamp for Homecoming!
I got accepted into innovate - should I still go to UF ? I’m out of state btw
Hi! So it really depends on you! IA has a Spring/Summer Academic schedule, and your fall semester is the time for you to do internships, or any program that provides you with experience for your future career. However, you can take courses in the fall term if you would like. IA classes can only be taken by IA students. The program teaches you entrepreneurship, creativity, leadership and ethics. The program helps students develop an innovative mindset.
Also, look to see if the IA program offers a major you are interested in.
You’re who I needed the summer before I got to college! Great tour! 🙌🏽🙌🏽
Thank you Staci!🤍
This was actually very informative and in depth thank you!!
You’re welcome!!!
Hey, quick question: is the bedroom only just two beds right next to each other and how many people did you have to share a bathroom with? Is this the same for the boys dorms or it is different?
Hi,
There are two beds per room, and you can rearrange them or bunk the beds as well. Also, you will share the bathroom with three other people. If you so happen to be placed in the RA unit, then you will share the bathroom with two other people. Beaty Towers is a Co-Ed dorm, so the layout is the same for men and women units within Beaty Towers. Hope this helps and good luck in college!
Hello, Thank you so much for this video! I was just wondering if there anyone ever had an issue between roommates about who gets which desk? I really would hate having the desk in the common area, but I am worried that would cause a problem. I was just curious if this was ever an issue.
Hi, so typically, whoever moves in to the room first, chooses first which desk they want to designate as theirs. Then the roommate who comes after, is defaulted to the common desk area. You could also reach out to your roommate and say that you prefer the desk in the room.
Thank you very much for your video. I will move in in two days. It is also Beauty Tower East. I read a lot of online reviews about Beauty and how small the room was, but my biggest concern was the roommates and the size of the room. What worries me is that if you don't need to get in and out of bed, there will be no other space in the room. Then you cannot put your computer in your room.
Hi Ricardo,
There’s one desk in the bedroom, and two in the kitchen/living space. If you happen to get there after your roommate, you can set up your computer in the kitchen/living space. Hope this helps.
Questions for you tube
Hi , really appreciate the video a lot. I have a few questions if you do not mind .
How high can the beds be raised in West Beaty?
Can a small refrigerator fit underneath the bed if the bed is raised to the highest level?
Do the bathrooms provide a curtain rod for the shower area?
How many trash cans are available per student per room?
Is a Trash can provided in the bathroom ?
Is a trash can provided for the kitchen area?
Does the oven come with inserts such as trays and or cookie sheets ?
Thank you so much for your kind consideration.
Hi Michelle, this is what I recall living in Beaty 2 years ago:
1) I’m not sure the exact height of the bed, but I’m 5’2” and I would have to climb up my bed or use a step stool. Try looking it up on the housing website or calling the housing office.
2) I didn’t have my fridge underneath my bed in Beaty, but I believe so. I had my fridge underneath my bed when I was living in springs Complex, and they were both twin sized XL beds.
3)yes, the bathroom provides a curtain rod
4) there are no trash cans in the rooms. You would need to buy/bring one.
5) there is a trash can provided in the bathroom
4) there is a trash can provided in the kitchen
5) there are no inserts/cookie sheets provided in the kitchen.
You’re welcome, & good luck!
@@vanessawilfrose appreciate it a lot
Hi there! Curious if you know a good address to have a doordash delivered to someone in Beaty west? Also would she need to come down for the delivery or do they leave it with someone? Thanks for the help, trying to send a birthday gift to someone 💙
Hello Stephanie,
The door dasher could leave it in front of the building and alert the customer that it has been delivered or the customer can meet the door dasher, or you can specify a different method when making the order. You can use the physical address for Beaty towers.
@@vanessawilfrose very much appreciated, thank you!
@@stephaniebrown1078 You’re welcome! Have a great day!
thank you so much for this video !! i just have a quick question are the elevators as bad/unreliable as some people say they are? im moving in next week and im kinda scared abt that 😭
You’re welcome! The elevators do break down sometimes, but for the most part, they work the majority of the time. I had lived in Beaty East, and they were working almost all the time. Beaty West elevators had broke down more often than East, but it was still functioning for the majority of the time. There is two elevators, so if one is down, the other is usually working. If both is down, then emergency maintenance will come out to get at least one of them fixed.
@@vanessawilfrose ohh okay cool ill be staying in beaty east so ty for the reassurance !! and for the reply :)
@@itsjoooe9517 Np! If you see me around campus or Beaty Towers, don’t be afraid to say hi! Good luck, and wishing you success this school year!
