I think the best counter to "you only beat bad players" is that a player can be bad sure, but a moonveil unsheathe R2 on an int build is still gonna hurt. Which is to say even if someone is bad the weapon they're using isn't going to care how bad they are or aren't, damage is damage
Welcome to another episode of saint_riot explains frame advantage without explaining frame advantage. In this episode, one might say "you *are not* going to have the opportunity to hit earlier than I will," but Saint 'Underscore' Riot responds, " *are two* ".
I have been a huge fan of Dagger heavy attacks since I first used them, they are really good and so fast, I use the Cinquedea on a Beast/Pyro build, and it combos so well with catch flame and bestial sling. Beast and pyromancy spells were meant to go together. Also rapiers that have the slash R2 have a true combo when you 2 hand them, its R2 into the backstep attack (hold down dodge while pressing R2, only works on curved swords and rapiers)
would you happen to know off the top of your head which rapiers have the slash R2? im mainly thinking of heavy thrusting swords but im pretty sure they dont have the backstep attack
@@Mr_Murakumo dang i must just not have ever tried it or maybe i did and forgot, i haven't played er in a minute just been watching saint to get my fix
On a serious note, it strikes me as a little odd that the bulk of players, many of whom play almost completely solo, don’t generally pick up on heavy attack=much higher poise damage/hit stun. This is mostly because the pve really leans into that. You could probably dig through VODs and find me in chat joking about how much From was begging us to press any button except R1 based on dividends earned from each attack type.
Because R1 (or L2) spamming gives the most dps, which is visually fed back to the player by decreasing length of enemy hp bar. Idk why From didn't show enemy posture/poise bar on screen; without it there is really no indicator to players how much more posture/poise dmg R2 deals over R1. Basically poise is just poorly explained
You are easily the main reason I got into strait sword and parry shield 🛡️ invasions. Also you helped me stop changing my build for what I think it needs and instead use what I think will be fun.
I'd say it is playing with your food, but still, these guys are the ones that signed up to be food lol I won't start a debate on balancing because we'll be here all night. But an invader is the only thing that counters the instant easy mode that co-op gives players Some may not like it but it's not yalls videogame. And I'd say the souls series is successful because they know when to listen to their fans and when not to
This video is less about straight swords and more fundamentals of pvp. It's still a good video. In pvp you're either defending, neutral, or attacking. Poise breaking the enemy with R1 puts you into neutral after you both recover but poise breaking with r2 puts you in attacking after you both recover. So to do well with straight swords use heavy. Of course theres more to it but thats the gist of it.
He actually went for a full explanation. But I guess hit stunning your opponent happens a lot when you're ganking so it doesn't help the co-opers that much😂
Your creative timing is unmatched. I was struggling with the single LS straight sword and scampered back to Urumi, misericorde, and Knights GS. Thank you, for being the best elden ring pvp content creator and liking my comment
In the Fighting Game Community. The terminology used is: “Frame-Advantage” •“Plus-Frames” •”Minus-Frames” •“Plus/Minus on Block/Hit” When you “Hit” an R2. Your character will be put in “Frame Advantage”. Inversely, if your opponent were to “Block” that R2; that, GENERALLY lol, would put them in “Frame Advantage”
Love the video! Sword and boarding is probably my favorite way to play, along with a greatsword, both things I most likely got from watching your videos well before trying pvp. On a separate note, however, are you planning to do any legacy dungeon videos like you did in ds3? I think that would be really cool to see, though I do understand if that would either be difficult or if it’s something you are unwilling to do.
THE AGE OF R1 SPAM IS OVER Naw on a real note I love passive poise because it destroyed the fast weapon R1 spam meta and forces you to think about things exactly like this. It also incentivises you to use bigger slower weapons that will always break poise. It also makes you more aggressive knowing 1 single fast weapon R1 won't stagger you into another R1. You can tank a hit so aggression is much more likely. People who don't like passive poise just have DS3 Stockholm syndrome after being forced to play it for 6 years. Active Poise and Passive poise should exist alongside each other. Elden Ring got that right. All they need to do is better balance the Poise values of armor sets so more armors are viable and it will be perfect.
That's exactly why I couldn't stand pvp in DS3. The "landing a hit guarantees a second hit" thing was sooo annoying and felt cheesy to me. I like having to work for chaining multiple hits, like charging R2 after an R1, going for a roll catch or a properly timed AoW.
@@Drunk_Souls I really hope they add a pvp covenant area like the forest or Pontiff to the DLC. That and covenants with legitimate incentive to do coop and PvP. I would actually be okay with some stupid strong weapons or spells being added if they were a reward for 100 (some high amount) of a covenant item, or possibly only usable while in said covenant. I think the DLC is going to be a Scholar of the First Sin style re-imagining, with proper factions, and one or two HUGE new areas and legacy dungeons.
This goes for greatswords and curved greatswords, my new favorite weapons. I use heavy a lot and the mix ups for roll catches are pretty good as well. Also changing fron one hand and two handed move sets are good for mix ups as well.
I personally used to hate straight swords. Outside of power stancing, which I also don't care much for, they just seemed so mediocre. Now sword and board is currently my favorite playstyle due to the sheer versatility and ease of use straight swords offer.
I use duel straight swords for both PvP and PvE. I always help a friend out on her save, and she gets invaded non-stop, and we repel at least 85% of the invaders who come to our world
I don't know why anybody would accuse you of playing with your food when all you do is Hibachi backstabs, burritos, and raviolis on the spaghetti netcode. Frickin ignorant people smh

Something else is that, even if they are bad players, it is still an accomplishment to beat two or three of them.
