- I couldn't help doing a reaction when I saw my first metal love, Within Temptation, dropped a new song, I wanted to share it with you guys!

For the past 20+ years, I've listened mainly to Metal and Video Game music. My wife on the other hand, is a Swiftie. One of her biggest bucket list items was seeing Taylor live. With the Eras Tour coming to Europe, that dream is now becoming a reality. And I'll be going with her!
In the spirit of this, I've been challenged by her to become a Swiftie by May 2024. That's in less than 300 days.
But every now and then I'll do something different on here, like today!

They are one of my all-time fave bands, been listening to them since Mother Earth (I'm old af 😂) and I loved this new single. What a delight seeing you react to it! 🥰
Mother earth is amazing! I discovered them with The Heart of Everything and went back to listen to all of it after seeing them live during that tour 🥰 so good! And thanks for the sub! ❤️

I feel so silly… I apparently DO listen to metal! I just didn’t know what metal was. 😂 (I don’t know from genres, sorry.) I know I asked about recs, but I had trouble finding the song you mentioned. >_>;; Would Evanescence, Nightwish, and maybe Plumb count, too, then? They’ve all got similar colors… (I have synesthesia and group music by color.)
This is totally my jam. I actually have listened to their music, hahaha.
Now I really want to hear what you think of “Graveyard” by Halsey. Or really all of her music. (She’s got the kinda albums that are best listened to in one go, because they feed into each other and stuff. Building and layering in beautiful ways. Halsey and Taylor Swift are my favorite artists right now.)

Evanescence and Nightwish are both definitely metal! Haven't heard Plumb so can't speak to that 😅
Evanescence's Bring Me To Life is ~8th grade in a song, along with Paramore, Bullet for my Valentine etc. 😅
Around that time was when I saw Within Temptation live and was blown away by how great they are, not just the one album I had, but all of their stuff. Sharon Del Adel is just an incredible vocalist! And the songs are equally great!
Saw Nightwish at a festival during their Anette era. Also an incredible band!

@ I don’t think Halsey is metal, but I think you might enjoy her sound! I’m biased, obviously. I actually listened to her entire discography in order (no skips) on loop when my daughter was too young to understand the words to keep from falling asleep on the playmat. 😂
…Actually, you might get a kick out of the only playlist that could get my daughter to sleep as an infant. I don’t know if you know any of these, but my in-laws said they were shocked it worked because it was ‘so rowdy,’ which might be a clue. As if the titles aren’t, haha.

I swear to you, she would not fall asleep if we didn’t play this with wave and storm sounds layered over it. Literally nothing else worked. (And even then we had to rock her to the beat of the songs. We had to sleep in shifts.)
For me, Evanescence is high school. Their first album came out when I was a freshman, haha. “Imaginary” was easily my favorite on the album I owned back then, haha. Middle school was Avril Lavigne. 😂 “Anything But Ordinary” was my favorite to scream in the car, to my parents’ chagrin. My dad preferred my Hilary Duff CD.
…This is what happens when I get nostalgic, haha. I ramble. (I’m a writer. It’s what I do.)
Yes! I definitely agree with this comment as far as listening to Halsey's album "If I can't have love, I want Power" ... Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross (from Nine Inch Nails, obviously) collaborated with Halsey & even produced the entire album!! It's definitely my favorite.
Just took my kid to see Paramore live a few days after she turned 18. Seeing her jump up and down, screaming lyrics and dancing her head off ...It was incredible. And I'm even more excited that I somehow lucked out and managed to get tickets for her & I to see the one & only T Swift next year!! Still pinching myself on that one haha
@@kellibella0804 Oh, man, Paramore is incredible. That was one of my big ‘scream in the car’ bands when I was in high school-Evanescence for sadness, Paramore for pent up rage, haha. Aly & AJ was another, but I think their music has a little less universal appeal than Taylor Swift’s…
I wish I could go to a concert. It’s a much bigger pain now that I use a wheelchair to get around-not everywhere is actually accessible. And I’m not sure I can stay upright for an entire concert, haha.
But yeah, that album is phenomenal. I like everything, though-literally I don’t skip ANY of her songs, which has never happened with any other artist. I’m too squeamish to watch the film that came out with the album, sadly, but I’ve heard it’s good!
