naz rash Thought that many times myself. However, my experience with all these series is that they tend to "drop off" in season 3 and then go downhill from there
This is one of the best sets I have ever seen. Not just in sci-fi, not just in TV, one of the best sets have seen, period. The level of detail, thought, and craftsmanship that went into it is amazing. It's a shame that it's all gone now.
i kinda felt that sg1 had that comedic childlike feel, Atlantis tried to do a more horror-sci fi feel with enemies as ugly as the wraith was more dark ect and universe went for an ultra serious realistic feel which imo is just fantastic.
I liked atlantis but i felt it became a bit like a cartoon with its graphics as the show went on. At the start it looked great but as time went on it looked more and more like CGI got cheap.
Not going to lie, I wasn't on board with the direction SGU went, tonally. Then I started warming up to it in Season 2. But after rewatching all of the Stargate series at once for a project, I realized that I really, really loved SGU. Seeing the other series back to back, and made it apparent that the formula SG1 and SGA were drawing from could only go so far, and they really tip-toed on the edge of stagnation. Never really crossing it, but you could tell they were nearing that line. SGU took the mythos in an exciting direction, while the tonal shift allowed for more story concepts to be explored. It's unfortunate that most people think of SGU by its first season instead of its second though :(
Put these guys back to work, @AmazonStudios !! They're the best! Can't wait for Brad's planned 4th SG series to get the green light so we finally get to see this beautiful ship and its crew in action again, even if just to resolve the cliffhanger and transition into the storylines of the new show. LFGO!!🔥🔥🔥
Speak for yourself. I have been a Stargate fan almost my whole life. Sure Stargate Universe was different than the movie, SG1 and Atlantis but that is not a bad thing. In fact a soap opera in space is not necessarily a bad thing. I love ALL of Stargate, the original movie, SG1, Atlantis AND Universe. I want Atlantis AND Universe to receive the proper endings they BOTH deserve. You don't have to like SGU, but it's fans deserve a proper ending too!
I haven't liked any science fiction shows since Andromeda and this was the first one I could get into since that, I tried watching the other ST's and I didn't like any of them. I'm so sad that STU was ended. Sci-Fi is generally action-typed but this was more of a drama-soap opera (minus the bad acting, this had an excellent cast imo)-action and I loved it. I can't believe they canned a show with so much potential, at least I get to watch Carlyle on Once Upon a Time. One of my fav actors.
Shay J I didn't like any shows, universe was the reason i started watching TV lol the expanse is pretty dam good,I'll actually throw the TV out if it gets cancelled like universe
I'm so Sad these crazy people cancelled this show... ALL OF THEM! It could have kept going forever! And YES you broke cigar smoking goons at MGM! Bring it back or sell if to another network!!! We want Stargate BACK! I'm a true fan not a hater like some of the comments I've read about SGU in particular! I love and respect it all! Give these actors their job back and bring back one of the true and real Science Fiction ideals!
SGU unfortunately gained traction too late to get renewed and several key actors already picked up new jobs immediately so even if it renewed later bringing the actors back would have been difficult.
"We can't help but build for the future" he says at the end. Shame the producers didn't do that too. Great show, great idea, great ship, great cast all ruined by lousy producers in the first few episodes.
Um, that's not quite how that works, tbh. I actually made a video essay that touched on some of this awhile back, but the slow pace of the first few episodes was in-part because of their miscalculation of how much the majority of the audience was willing to stick around without a "purpose" to the story, as they were given the green for two seasons from the get-go. The "lousy producers" were the same producers that were on throughout the show, two of which was involved in the other series as well, and the third one having written many SGA episodes, so it's a bit of a bizarre thing to say really
I sure wish they would have done a season 3. OMG I loved this show.

for this show, season 2 was where it finally picked up.
but MGM went bankrupt and no more stargate after that.

"We can't help but to build for the future" How wrong was he now that they have cancelled it!

Yeah, said exactly the same myself - apparently it was too dark and not jokey enough for the "standard" SG fan
didnt know that the gate was smaller
build for the future, famous last words.

networks are catering to the haters, not the fans,
