🤓actually the IR blaster was used to send data to a pda to sync it up with the computer however some desktop replacement laptops did have a remote for media control when watching dvds or listening to music
I had this exact laptop model. It was my first computer and very expensive at the time. But man, it was heavy, and every cool feature that I paid extra for ended up failing not long after the warranty expired. It lasted 4-5 years before it crapped out. My MacBook on the other hand, I’ve had for over a decade with NO issues. Quality matters.
I had hp dv5 1215ee with c2d 2gb ram. Its a nice laptop and its dead. When i plug the charger the system turns on automatically and no post or any warning signs.. just turns on with all led light. WTF situation. So confirms that its a motherboard damage

HP is always called Hinge Problems - man I will never forget how HP basically demolished their brand using weaker plastic and poor hinge.
