This has to be one of the best series ever made for TV. The writing , acting , directing and detail to the period , all first rate . Good Show !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Shows just how easily an innocent person can become made to seem guilty by those who know the "tricks of the game", aided and abetted by small-minded colleagues embittered by their own ineptitude. Although, Cork really should have known immediately he'd been "dipped"??? Thanks for another superb episode.
In those days, British TV was excellent, but we all looked forward to Saturday nights being THE night of the week. And this was one of the best series put out on those Saturday evenings.
thank you once more for this incredible series.this episode was absolutely outstanding in every respect. i noted as an ex copper myself that the cid then was strictly speaking the detective branch but comprised of officers in plain clothes. as you saw they had to revert to uniform for official duties . although no longer true of the met or other british constabularies this tradituon continues in of all places the nypd.they wesr uniform despite being detectives for parades internal hearings and funerals of brother officers .they have an official uniform day once a year where they have to go on duty in full uniform.
I can't believe Cork didn't realize that he was patted down while the informant was dabbing the beer he spilled on Cork ( for the purpose of stealing his wallet ).

This kind of play was Sunday night entertainment rather than Saturday.
Saturday was variety shows such as Black and White Minsterels
