Summons are among the most well known and powerful abilities in the Golden Sun series. They consist of the user calling upon a powerful spirit to assist the user's party.
Summons deal more damage against enemies with more HP, making them very effective against bosses.

This game looked more like a 3DS one than a DS one. Camelot knows how to make their games look amazing on any hardware… can't wait for a new golden sun or a remake
I really hope we get a remake or something. I would preorder it right away. The 20th anniversary for Golden Sun is next year
Well that could be that it has 3d models (which most ds games didn't have), but whatever.
The GBA-Games are back on Switch :)
@@naeshaunedwards7731 Doesn't seem likely anymore.. Maybe on the switch 2 whenever that's happening..
Patch notes: Judgment no longer looks like they're destroying the entire world to kill one bear
The summon Crystalux is essentially the TV ad for Golden Sun 1, amazing reference
Theses animation was really good for DS game, now we want Golden sun 4 on the Switch, maybe with a lot of hope...
GSDD didn't do well because points of no return and other stuff. Nintendo thought we stopped loving the franchise but it was them. GSDD happened because someone made a fake cover which got them interested in it again.
@@deoxal7947 lol for real!? I don't understand why Nintendo/Camelot think that. Also, why the ending of GSDD is so promising for a Golden Sun 4.
@@deoxal7947 I will always want more information about Alex lol.
@@Terranigma23 That's the way I heard it back then. The hoaxes probably weren't the only factor but it sustained people's interest.

@@Terranigma23 Dark Dawn was such a beautiful world, but it left so many questions unanswered.
Azul's triple eye slits is such a darling feature, oh my God.
Just imagine what they could accomplish on the Nintendo Switch hardware.
Yeah there animation and artwork is beautiful, they'd totally make something amazing for sure.
Amazing how detailed all these animations are. It was rivaling the 3DS.
Oh so the frog wasn't Cybele... It was her pet.
Nice xD
Judgement was and is my all time favorite Djinn Summon from the Golden Sun franchise.
same and its evolution
I love how thor just has the infinity gauntlet
It's also funny how he just transforms Mjölnir into a rocket-powered sparkplug.
@@DeltaSilver88 true
@@DeltaSilver88sparkplug indeed
man, the first time i saw cybele summon when this game was released.... its such a graphical masterpiece for Nintendo DS
3DS wasnt even around back then i guess
Let's address the real issue here: Moloch is clearly a Digimon.
hey Digimon hey digimon
Really? Only Moloch?
We’re not going to acknowledge that Judgement shares significant design traits with Omegamon?
Not nearly enough belts
clearly Terriormon's other champion evolution
They made good changes from TLA to DD, not just in graphics in some cases.
Summons like Catastrophe, Charon, Atalanta Neptune or Daedalus are upgraded 3D versions of GBA's animations.
Others, like Judgment, Kirin, Tiamat, Procne or Moloch, are the same but they added animations to show context of how they appear.
Cases like Cybele, Ramses and Azul made much more sense now in how they attack.
Summons like Megaera, Flora, Nereid and Coatlicue got "revised" models that made them look more like godesses and less like "generic anime girls" (in fact, Coatlicue's revised model was the best, since you can tell that Camelot DID an investigation about that godess to give her an aztec-like clothing, as a mexican, I simply loved the detail!).
*Fun fact:* In the first trailer, when it was called just "Golden Sun DS", Nereid's boobs slightly bounce while riding her seahorse.
And finally, summons like Meteor, Cybele, Boreas and Ulysses were a *HUGE* improvement in every way, giving then new animations, models and/or better context, making they look awesome! (I still can't believe how they managed to make a simple summon as Meteor from just a giant rock falling from space, to look like God itself taking the biggest rock from the asteroid belt to hurl it at your enemies at light-speed using the Force, but I just *LOVED* it.)
I wouldn't say everything was an upgrade. Certain viewpoints such as catastrophe doesn't give you such a good look at the design as much as the gba, and neirid was a woman on a frog so the context on that and some gas been lost. Beyond that, I always considered the sound effects better in the old as it was more snappy and impactful. And lastly, the particle effects in the past had different forms creating an understanding that everything was done out of psynergy than actual meteors at least to some degree like a mental battle between prof x and jean grey with physical damage. The effects added a lot of personality too. Some of this game loses that and a remake with this less impactful style wouldn't get my support.
Maegara, Cybele, Ulysses, are better. Boreas is kind of weak in both to me. Thor loses context with that tech hammer form.
@@furyberserk yeah, a majority of the summons are way less impactful. For instance with Charon it was like.......is that it? Nowhere near as strong as the Lost Age version.
Thor got upgraded from a god with a hammer to a god who rides a giant hammer, turns it into a spark plug, then throws it at the enemy like a missile.
agreed! i'm kinda sad that they changed Boreas being a giant shaved ice machine, because that was weird and gave it charm. but a giant unicorn mech is also pretty cool. also, i notice Tiamat is more based on her dnd self than her mesopotamian self.
@@furyberserk true, while I do enjoy those animations, most summons, spells and weapon crits sounds much less impactful. I still Onder Hile they didn't kept more of the original sounds from the GBA game and it Ould have been much better !
The friggin spark plug!! Lmao! Totally forgot about that. Man this series is so good. I wish Golden Sun 4 was a real thing to look forward to.
the Golden Sun series would have been perfect on a hybrid system like the Switch.
Dark Cloud I was stoked enough for the two original release s on Virtual Console for Wii U! But yes I totally agree. Imagine a character creation system where you could choose which element your adept could be and play online with others? New summons, more Djinn to collect, and most importantly...the continuation and growth of this series.
😍
Dark Cloud indeed
The music synced up pretty well for Tiamat.
I love the power portrayed through these animations. It’s awe inspiring!
This game by complete accident was my first jrpg ever dark dawn will ever have a place in my heart as it struck a good balance. Not too easy you get board and not too hard that you give up. And no so long or grindy the story looses interest
I think this one i never played before, animation really holds up to now, judgment and catastrophe look awesome in 3D, iris looks even more like a planetary nuke XD.
Battle music is catchy too.
mahn, GS summons sure cause some serious existential crisis even in an RPG huh.
Some of these summons reminded a lot of Digimon. Very well-made. Awesome.
Anyone ever wonder what Crystallux would have looked like on the GBA?
If nothing else about this series, they understood the damn assignment when it comes to summons.
Oml this game. I was addicted to this game back then, along with aos, devil survivor, and others.
Back in my day, Nereid was a Japanese kimono-clad girl perched atop a turtle. But you know..... This one might be better, especially historically speaking.
They really updated the visuals on the summons.... my favorite are eclipse, judgement and catastrophe
I remember calling Zagan, Hades. And Megaera Hades Sister when I was young.
Megaera is epic.
I need a remaster of this maaaaannnnn
I have the game, and I have seen them all.
Thank you for this video.☺
I remember I couldn't share this experience with no one of my friends, even though I recommended it to them because the "lore was too long", but one of the best games, I had two files completed and one always available for any friends who would like to try
I like that while the rest of the tier 4 pure element summons are calling upon some higher entity, entreating them to use their power, Meteor is literally just a mars adept (ostensibly) finding an immense source of heat in space and retreiving it
I'm glad that battles in this game take place inside a separate reality from Weyard, because some of these summons can really just end the world in a single blow and a rag-tag team of teenagers casually use them to kill a bat and some rats.
To quote a certain knight, 'You're not casting magic. You're COMMITTING magic.'
I think it would be interesting if someone would analyze how powerful the characters and summons are.
Oh so "Catastrophe" was a fallen "Judgement" afterall.
how dope would it be if they remastered this game for the switch with better graphics
Curious about the guy on the design team who looked at the Morgal Opera House's chandelier and said "What if it was a dragon?"
You mean....you don't know the story behind the Chandelier Dragon?
2:34 cuando te das cuenta que gilgamest es una invocación de rango 2
I..... I've played this game three times
...... WHY ARE THERE SOME THAT I HAVEN'T SEEN?!???! WHERE DID I MISS THEM?!??!?!!!
YEAHHHH MANNN i know that feeling
Some of these summons are in secret dungeons that you need to go out of your way to find. Which summons don't you have?
Hope there is a remake for the Nintendo Switch.
Catastrophe and judgement were my favs without a doubt
Fun thing to do. Mute the audio from this and cue up in another tab "those who accept the protection of the stars" and put it on loop.
In fact, that song goes well with ANY compilation of summons
I think Neptune was the most similar to the original summon animations from gs1 & 2
What about Charon? It's literally the same
Amazing
Man I must have sucked at this game I dont remember having half of these summons
A lot of these are collectables so they're easy to miss
@@librathebeautifulwarmonk1283 I played it back when I was young and stupid so I definitely could have missed a few I'm gonna have to go back and play through it
@@austinwilkinson2208 Nice. Be careful as some of these are can be locked if you advance too far in the story before getting them
Libra The beautiful War Monk at most one is locked off permanently
I didnt even manage to finish this game because it became too hard for me near the end back then...
I think i've only played The Lost Age, but this one looks cool.
You HAVE to try it 😄 not only is it a good Golden Sun game, its also one of the best looking and one of the best RPGs on the Nintendo DS.
Catastrophe: We tried it the nice way, now we do it the hard way.
There was a comment once that said, Judgment was shown to do his job professional with knightly restraint and honor.
Catastrophe is when he finally clocks out after a tiring day only to get mandatory overtime.
6:42 Star Platinum
It must be a Golden Sun remake for Nintendo Switch!
Well, Catastrophe & Iris are still cool
There is a video of a nuclear reactor being started up elsewhere on youtube. Parts of it look an awful lot like the Tiamat summon.
awesome
I find it interesting that some summons seem to have technology themeing than ususal fantasy themes.
Well, Golden Sun has alchemy, which can be considered to be a mix of magic and science, so why not?
Marvel got it wrong. Mjölnir is just Thor’s ride, the real weapon was his trusty giant Sparkplug
Anyone notice how Coatlicue here looks so much like the Ply animation and the statues in Mercury Lighthouse?
Pretty much most summons are like WMDs while looking fly as f***. Had these been summoned in another world like, say, a Fire Emblem one, armies would've been obliterated in seconds by the sheer awesomeness or gorgeousness and utter destruction that these primal beings had shown.
While this game has some problems, I still enjoyed it quite a lot.
All this summons are different than the original duology mainly because of Alchemy release and it's been 30 years so they grow up and getting older.
That remind me some Pokemon moves.
Idk if it’s just me but I think the Demon in Catastrophe is the same Angel in Judgement but corrupted
The funny fan interpretation I saw went like this:
Judgment: Start his work shift.
Catastrophe: When he about to finish his shift and the manager tells him he's got mandatory overtime.
Megaera best girl
3:20 Thor from golden sun for WWE please
Me: Ulysses, I summon you
Safer sephiroth: you summoned me?
Azul = Rasengan
Note: if you are playing on drastic, it really becomes really choppy
Only on low-end devices
@@cguzmanxx i + this dont attempt to play on a smartphone that costs only 300 bucks
I really miss beating saturos and menardi. I wish they are still alive in series 4
they won´t come back, they are dead and you killed them!
They died in the first game
Judgement was a let down. For a nuke it sure looked like an energy ball moving closer to the target than an explosion moving closer at all. Depth of feel.
Just grow the sphere until it looks like a wall hitting them rather than a ball the size of a small house.
Those look cool but i somehow like the animation from the old ones more
Encounters a mole rat:
Matthew: “with this treasure i summon…”
Now why couldn't they make summons look this good in Final Fantasy? LOL
Definitely needs a switch remake or something
The entire series should be remastered for the Switch.
Man the golden era of rpgs
MAGAERA BEST INVOCATION !
4:42 GOOD LORD! What is happening in there?
i miss there one
This thing is under rated RPG, but it's like other games on 3ds but more cooler
Meteor be like, here, a pebble
I really thought i had all the summons.........😅😅😅
I need a remake for switch!
Dare tell me there was no effort put on theses cutscene, from the Genesis, passing by the Sega Saturn and the GBA to the DS, Camelot RPG games always featured awesome battle cutscenes !
Why are you talking about Sega here?
@@velvetbutterfly Oh hum because Camelot software planning who made the Shining series on Sega consoles also did a fantastic job on the battle scenes, and I was just saying that from the first RPGs they made to Golden Sun 3, the battle scenes / cutscenes were always awesome !
7 fache Lieferung meine lieben ist doch mal ne Prüfung wert
I feel like some are missing
Bad mention of the actual gods, but props for the effort.
golden sun 4 dark realm in switch please TT
Cybele and Coatlicue are hot.
Were these weopons and Gods really extraterrestrial technology? Ancient Aliens theorists say yes
Summoning mommies was never this cool.
I had a question how do you summon Iris? I never had her as a summoning. Were do I have to go to get Iris.
On a super secret dungeon, and to beat Dullahan, a Super Boss in GS.
@@alistairestamo1633 Thank you I 'll try to find it. 👍
Anton Tomas any luck?
@@velvetbutterfly No is it on the island?
Anton Tomas in Dark Dawn, after beating the final boss reload your save, I don't know if you need to do the other secret areas first, but to get to the boss that guards Iris, get on your boat and sail to the southernmost part of the map. There is a little peninsula type part, a whirlpool will be there if you meet the requirements.
Sail into it and you'll appear in a new part of the water. There is a single island in this part, go to it and enter the dungeon.
Iris awaits at the every end.
Please Nintendo Mao wit to the swtich

wasn't the world flat in GS2 ?
I'm not sure if the world itself was flat, all I remember is that there were waterfalls on the edge of the map.
@@DeltaSilver88 the north part of the map was falling apart, that's why saturos and menardi needed to activate the lighthouses in order to stop the end of the world, but also doing that would cause the Golden Sun to destroy the world in a few decades
you really should have added a balck bar in the middle, it really, makes it hard to watch as they dont lineup
Sieht man sag mal wer ist brennen
Might be nostalgia goggles but golden sun 2 did it best, these just sound like some stock sound effects you could find on google in minutes.. Kind of glad i didnt get this one even if I am a huge fan of golden sun.
You’re like a medium fan tbh
@@howisthatgay4275 I'd like to think i upsized to Large fan, tbh.
It's actually a lot better than you might see it. Though it may not be as awesome as its predecessors, Dark Dawn is still a great game overall. It just goes way more in-depth into the story than the last 2 games. Honestly, if you are a huge fan, I'd recommend playing it. Just some friendly words :D
They're literally the same sound files from the GBA games though?
Judgment = Shovel Knight
They're lacking in oumph... The attacks don't carry the same weight and impact as the gba versions.
yup they're so well done and detailed but they feel weak af to use compared to the gba ones.
yeah because with the gba, it feels like your handheld gonna break because of the fps drop and particle flood during the impact part, cant get more ooomph than that hahahahaha
@@toparky2470 lol 😂
Wtf? Boreas is supposed to be an ice shaver machine. Boo.
😆
why r people impressed by these graphics? the 2nd and 1st had better graphics
How is it possible that they made them look worse than in TLA
It's really a shame that these amazing graphics were stuck in a horrible game
I'm 2 years late, but how exactly is GS:DD a "horrible game" ?
@@Luragon9876 From what I remember, this game's story was just littered with plot holes, loose ends and the characters just weren't compelling imo. For an RPG that's a death sentence.
And the gimmick of Jinns (or whatever they were called) was also pretty lackluster, since pairing each character with only Jinn of their main element, was always better than trying to mix them, because the stats were significantly higher and the variety of a mixed class' movepool didn't mitigate that weakness enough, when you could always just swap to a dedicated, pure-class character instead. There might be some specific combination where that isn't true, but without a guide you probably wouldn't know and you wouldn't need it either, since this game is pretty easy anyway.
It looked amazing though
@@heinokunzelmann8967 Thx for your response and yeah i understand your points. I also remember that there were multiple points of no return in the story which can be annoying as well.
However, i think saying it's horrible is quite the over-statement. I might be biased because it was one of my first RPGs but i replayed it fairly recently and the game is not that bad.
Perfect ? Hell no. Enjoyable ? Definitely. Also a lot of the story's issues stem from the lack of a sequel that was clearly supposed to happen but didn't, so it kind of gets a pass for me.
@@Luragon9876 When I finished the game I felt like I had wasted my time. It was extra bad since it was the first time that had happened to me. There's really nothing worse a game could do to you, so I don't feel bad calling it horrible, personally speaking of course
Not saying they look bad, but they just don't have the same charm as the GBA ones.
yeah, but some are bad or at least worse, like Thor, Boreas or Charon
Thor is weird because 1. he Surfs in the sky on his Hammer an 2. i don`t know what he throws at the end, but it is not the mighty Hammer
Boreas just turned into a Transformer
and Charon is not that bad, but in the beginning he looks like he is sweeping the floor.
@@tthetlp3733 I think Thor turns his hammer into a jet engine, for some reason...
In all of things they can choose, they use a spark plug to represent Thor's power?! Why not just use a normal thunder or his hammer? I wonder what are the animator thinking
