2025 Honda Civic Si: Spanish for "Getting Pricey"

- Опубликовано: 17 янв 2025
- Let’s test drive and review the new 2025 Honda Civic Si! Thanks @homefieldapparel for sponsoring this video!
The Honda Civic Si generally sits in the middle of the Civic lineup. It’s like a sport-lite model that slots in above the base models and normal commuter car, but below the 315-horsepower Type R hot hatch. The Si and Type R look and feel like Civics, but they’re sportier and cooler and only come with manual transmissions. No automatic here!
The Civic nameplate is in its 11th gen. Just like last year, the stock 2025 Civic Si has 200 horsepower and 192 pound-feet of torque from a turbocharged 1.5-liter, 4-cylinder engine. Each Civic Si builds upon the last one, so this new model isn’t a revolutionary change from 2024.
The Si has a pretty quiet exhaust and engine sound, but driving the car is a blast (and comfortable enough for a road trip). The current model is also sedan-only - no coupe - and it’s finally crossed the $30,000 base MSRP mark.
This raises really important buying questions, mainly due to the existence of the $34,000, 276-horsepower Hyundai Elantra N. Which is best to buy? Sure, the Si is cheaper, but the N offers 76 more horsepower for $4,000. The N generally competes with the $46,000 Type R - not the Si - despite being closer in price to the Si. To truly rival the Elantra N, the Civic Si likely needs a power bump or a price drop. A power bump feels more likely.
So, should you buy a 2025 Honda Civic Si? That’s for you to decide. (If you do, it’s a great choice.) I hope this video shows you everything you need to make that decision, and I appreciate you being here.
Thanks for watching my RUclips channel. Enjoy the drive (and the video)!

This is our first video with our NEW DRONE! Let me know what y'all think : )
Drone shots where pretty good, looking forward to see new shots with it. Also liked the a-pillar shots too.
Looks epic
Nice addition to already outstanding reviews
Who’s Our???
Were all the exterior shots done with the drone?
The cinematography is on point. The production values are very good.
Thank you. New drone! Yay!
@@AlanisKingjust one small comment: when you're commenting about how much free there is in the engine bay you should include a b-roll shot of the engine bay itself, not you standing in front of the car pointing inside the bay we can't see. I'll add the timestamp.
EDIT: at 4:00 it would be great to get a top view close up of the engine bay to show the layout and space as you speak about.
I love the way you interact with your audience. I know when this channel gets bigger that it's going to be hard to do, but I appreciate your humbleness ❣️
Awww thank you. I’ve always tried to do that on all channels, even if it takes time - it means the world that y’all are here and you watch
Totally agree. Alanis is the real deal.
Hi Alanis! Sorry I got to watch this video late today, but it's still the highlight of the day!
I was like "Omg! I haven't seen Francisco yet! I hope everything is okay!" It's so funny how we get in routines of seeing people online : ) Thank you for always being here!
I didn’t get a chance to watch the video in the morning before I went to work like I usually do, but thank you for looking out for me Alanis, very much appreciated!
I really like how you briefly explain the history and just about the car in general. Adds significant amount of interest in the car and the nameplate it carries. Love the review and the report card summary xD
Thank you so much 🤠🤠 appreciate you watching
I’m a gearhead. Watch automotive videos everyday. Great informative video. You got a new subscriber!
Ahhhh thank you! Wow!
This was SUCH an enjoyable video!! You have an amazing eye for this and it shows. I can’t wait to see future videos and your channel grow!
This means a ton. Thank you. We were up all night making sure those drone shots and b-roll clips were perfect, and I’m so glad you enjoyed it
Yet another stellar review from Alan is King!!
From the cinematography to the content and POV it’s all great … loved the comparison to the Elantra N. 👊🏻🤠
Ahhhh thank you! We really appreciate it : )
So informative, with the historic video and specs. Keep testing those manual trans cars. Your reviews just draw one in and make one feel very involved. I get a similar feeling with some of the “Grand Tour” reviews of the past. So well produced on your part.
This means a lot. Thank you so much. I really appreciate you watching!
@@AlanisKingit’s the elevator music combined with the voice over for me!
Every shot of the car beautifully highlights the pearl paint. This is the only review I've seen do this right! Love how informative and thorough you are ❤
Ahhh thank you. I appreciate this so much
Production quality /cinematography is going up through the sky 😄😄
Thank you 🤠🤠🤠
Good informative channel. You really drive these cars and give feedback about it, not just talk endlessly about design, screens and materials as many auto reviewrs do nowadays.
Thanks!
Omg! Thank you Jorge!
The footage from the new drone is very nice, and you're doing fantastic with the audio and cinematography. Those of us with headphones and big TVs appreciate that.
This Civic Si is way too expensive, but so is everything to me because I love cars from 20 years ago. I just wish for the days of a hot hatch 3 door Si. It may be the color, but it looked like the panel gaps were funky.
I love that paint though. My 2012 Scion TC has a very similar color with a dark cloth interior that gets very dirty extremely easily.
Great video Alanis!
Ahhhh thank you so much : ) We love the drone! We watched this one on the TV to quality-check it before publishing too. Appreciate you being here
Being a current owner of an 8th gen Si, I look forward to when I graduate college I hope to get one of these or maybe a type R! Loved the video production quality as this is the first time I've seen you on my homepage, just subbed and hope to see more :D
Ahhh thank you so much! I appreciate you being here. We try to make them this well produced every week 🤠 good luck with the new semester!
Great review as always. And the video production and editing are exceptional.
Great stuff!
Cool video as always. Always appreciate the operatic music. The drone shots add another layer of artistic flair to the video.
As far as the comparison between the Si and the N; well…the build quality and shifter/clutch action definitely favor the Si. But, the N really brings a fun package in a different way with all the power and noise. It’s a nice problem to have in deciding between them.
Totally. I do not love the shifter or clutch on the N, but wow is it a compelling package as a whole. Thank you for watching 🤠🤠
I will forever wish it were a hatchback, I could even forgive that massive rev hang in 1st/2nd for an Si hatchie
The trunk is big, at least!
@@AlanisKing a big trunk is nice but not gonna fit an upright bass!
@@alexandram9477 I'm fine with the sedan. One less window and wiper motor to worry about. Besides, I'm not a pack rat. If I need to pack stuff. I would have gotten a compact SUV in the first place.
Video looks awesome as always Alanis! Looks like a solid and fun ride too. Manual transmission team unite!
Thank you Eric ❤️ appreciate you
i own a 9th gen Si and i have been kind of salty on the new gen but this video actually made me very proud of the Si. considering the current car market. it's just such a fun daily driver
It's such a good car. Thank you for watching!
Excellent review, as always. The new drone shots are looking awesome!
Thank you 🤠🤠🤠
Great video! Love the enthusiastic vibe. Liked and Subscribed❤
Ahhh thank you. This means the world
The porridge analogy is top tier journalism!!! 🐻 🐻❄ 🧸
Awwww thank you 🧸
I own a 2022 of this car and have put on just about 60k miles. Honestly a great car for getting around and all though it doesn’t have a lot of power it handles great, the steering is great and the manual only adds to it.
Heck yeah. Great choice!
it amazes me how the US buyers are so numb to horsepower numbers that other places would consider "big". I live in Argentina and 200hp is for performance cars. Regular cars are between 90 and 140hp
It really is fascinating how our regions determine a lot of our opinions about this stuff. America is huge on “more, more, more”
America has a lot of regulations that make cars really heavy, 200 HP is merely good enough modern for a sports car. It Amazes me that Argentina has such weak cars 😂
@@ForzaDriven weight and power makes car expensive and inefficient. Stop doing that 😂
@@aguruattapiano and safer. Argentina must not have safety regulations, what a shame.
@aguruattapino. My first car had 147 horsepower. My now current car, which replaced my first car, has 276 horsepower, with 6 speed manual. From 2022 to 2024.
Hi Alanis. Another great review and now with the added dimension of drone shots. Channel is going from strength to strength. Package looks cheap compared to prices here in the UK 🤠
Thank you 🤠🤠 I love the drone!
This was an excellent review! New SUB!
Ahhh thank you! I appreciate this
@ watched a few more, love your perspective on things….
I drove an Si coupe, 2017 model and 2020 model. Only have 1 young kid for the back seat, but no matter what, she never caused any wear and tear to the back of the seat. Even salt on my kid's winter boots would mark up the back of the seat, but it just wiped clean with a soap/water cloth.
Also, last gen had adaptive dampers. Didn't make a huge difference, but it really made you feel like you were getting a lot of car for the money. Nothing in that price range had adaptive suspension.
GREAT to hear. I'm always worried about that cloth! I'm so glad it lasts well!
Maroon seats look amazing
They’re really nice
I have a ‘22 Si and it’s the best daily. It shifts like my FK8 so it feels like home. On trips I regularly see 44 mpg with 4 people and luggage. In the mountains that drops to 40 mpg. Wish mine had the heated seats, shift lights and really miss a temperature gauge. Glad Honda addressed the initial downgrades m.
as a 9th gen si owner, I give a "si"(yes in spanish) to this review
Thank you 🤠🤠
Excellent review, the new camera shots were great! Just curious, I've heard the Si and the Type R have fake engine noise pumped through the cockpit. Was that noticeable at all while driving this one?
GREAT question. I actually cut this part out because it was so confusing! The Si has a new feature for 2025, where you can cut the fake sound in Individual mode. I cut the sound and … didn’t notice a difference. In case it was a user error, I just cut it from the video!
The actual competitor is the Elantra N Line. Price and equipment about the same, except the 7 speed DCT but no LSD.
You're right, yes! But my argument here is that the Elantra N is a good enough price to challenge the Si
Wait wait wait… you mean “Type R” doesn’t stand for Roller Coaster? 😂😂😂
RIGHT?
Another important factor for me with this vs the Elantra N was practicality. Si gas mileage is much better, and it doesn't have that crossbar where the seats go down. I will use that extra space for work, and I drive a lot on the freeway, so this easily put the Si above the Elantra for me (But tbh, I didn't test drive the Elantra because I was worried I'd fall in love with the power)
Incredible points all around. Congrats on the Si!
I always consider the Si the ultimate compromise. It’s just enough of everything. Personally I’d leave the stable for anything more.
Sporty: Actual Sports Car
Space: SUV
Fuel Economy: Hybrid
Lower/Higher Cost: Elsewhere
A decent mix of these combined though is the Civic Si!
Doug: You’re fired.
Alanis: Ever heard of production quality?
This made me smile ☺️ thank you. And thank you for watching!
Ever since I was a kid, I always had a soft spot for Civics and especially for the Si's which I dream of owning one. I currently own a 9th gen and I eventually want to upgrade to either a 9th Gen Si or the 11th gen
Great car to love. I hope you get one and love it someday!
@AlanisKing I should put it on my vision board
@@vithursan.bi ended up with a 2019 Type-R via something like that. I had a running list of “next cars” and the type-r was the only one i had listed out a year and color, and low and behold i found the exact car i wanted just down the street. I’m not much a believe in manifestation, but that was a wild coincidence at the least
@@dasmg right moment, right time situation. You sure were lucky. However, I never done manifestation but we will see how it goes. I will just save up my money and hope for the best. Another next car I want is a Lexus IS350 so im torn between both cars, even they are different categories
@ i consider myself very lucky, but i also say go for it, write that car down and work towards it!
Love the jacket Alanis, just need a Kellogg's terry lebonte one for the Texas connection.

I have a 2022 Si, I used a Hondata base map tune increasing torque up to 250 lb-ft. It’s just the warranty you’ll be throwing out the window.
This sounds awesome
Great review of a car I'd consider if it came in a hatchback. What I'm curious about (i.e., Alanis, have you driven or will you be driving the car I'm about to mention?) is how the Mazda3 hatch with a manual transmission compares to the Si.
Ah man, I wish I had more experience with it. I only drove it for a few seconds in 2019, I think
Speaking of Honda, can you, at some point in the future, do a video about the Honda, Nissan, and Mitsubishi merger?
I’d love to! Just not a ton of time lately. Maybe I can make some
I would have gone for it if was a hatchback. Went with GTI SE instead hehe
Also would love to see your thoughts on the refresh of GTI and R 😭
I swear there are so few VW press cars in Texas! I’ve never gotten one, aside from the Arteon
dangggg that’s crazy, would have thought there would be lots in Texas. But I definitely recommend if you could review it, as it is so much fun to drive especially in corners (if you can ignore the infotainment system which you get used to 😭)
Neat!! A new channel to sub to!! 👍
Ahhh thank you so much! Yay!
I'm currently in the market and I am finding that there is a Ford Focus ST-sized hole among the current offerings that has yet to be filled. I bought my 2016 ST new and it had 252HP/270lbft. At the time this was a sub 30k car (28k msrp in my config) and I got it for 25k OTD. The closest I'm coming to this is the current WRX and even then I feel like I'm making a compromise since there's no hatch option.
So fair. And the WRX just feels a little older, tbh
Get a GTI with a stick while you can. I've seen S trims under 30 and i got my se for @$35k
I love that they added heated seats and the full digital dash but why did honda decide to not include Sirius Satellite Radio because that's all I listen to what a bummer.
Love the Jeff Gordon “rainbow warrior” jacket 👌
Thank you 🤠
I want these shots on loop as a background :.)
This is a fun idea. Car ASMR
Awesome car video!😊
Thank you 🤠
Went and test drove one, very well grounded but a Toyota Camry was faster. Problem with the Hyundai N is reliability-the stories(fubarred) on the forums are brutal.
So fair. That’s the fear with a less-proven car
@@AlanisKing If I remember correctly transmission case failures and trying to duck out on warranty-just like the drama on their engines and "authorized" oil changes. You either pay up front or pay in the rear...
@AlanisKing - what was that music piece when you were sitting in the interior?
Ohhh I know where I heard it before - @geodesaurus ' Spooky Lake Month!
I honestly was underwhelmed during my time with the current gen si. That being said, the resale was insane. I basically lost no money to deprecation after my 18 months of ownership since I paid cash and got it $100 below msrp.
I remember in my 2010 Si I used to remove the shift knob in the summer cause I burned my hand once.
Omg. I would have too
@ amazing video once again Alanis. What would be your preference Civic Si or GTI?
GTI would have the manual transmission as well.
needs 40 to 60 more hp to justify the price
Hmm, I'll be interested to see what used prices on these do. I'd like to own one some day if the price came down
Totally. It would be a really great used car too
Love me some honda and Alanis
Thank you 🤠
I think the hp is actually around 220 when on the dyno but honda downplayed the hp for marketing or something.
I'll have to look this up! Thanks for watching!
That 1987 Civic Si only had 91hp but it only weighed around 1900 pounds. 2025 model needs that extra 109hp cause its lugging around around 1,000 more pounds. Back in the day we didn't need no stinking airbags and computer screens😅
How is the cabin noise at highway speeds?
I find that all modern Civics are a bit loud at highway speeds, but not the worst
RIP EP3 :(
RIP 🙏
If i had to buy a car right now I would get an Si. They should really put back the manual handbrake for manuals. Hyundai hasn't worn off it's bad reputation yet.
The Si is soooo good. I love Hyundais!
30K + markups for a Si is hilarious considering I picked up a 2.0T manual accord. With a tune and sway bars, it carves harder and faster than the si.
I had a Lyft driver in a manual Accord a few years ago! It was so exciting!
@@AlanisKing Its definitely under rated. Previously I had a coupe v6 manual as well, and you really feel the "honda doesn't make them like the used to" vibe.
Think about it guys, accord wheel base: 111", the Si? 108". The civic has gotten bigger too.
Love the reviews.
Hi Alanis. Another high quality review and now with the added dimension of drone shots. Going from strength to strength. Honda seems cheap value compared to the prices here in the UK…🤠
Why not keep the Si at 200hp and drop the weight below 3000 lbs? :) Price doesn't bug me so much; adjusted for inflation, it's essentially the same as the 1999 Si Coupe I drooled over back in the day.
Totally. It’s in line with inflation! The Elantra N is just sooo tempting with the Si at $30,000
Hell yeah!
Hell yeah!
Crazy we dont get this in Europe this is the most European like car and no at all American kinda car
Hahaha fair
I think the craziest thing about this car is Honda is still requiring 93 octane, and it is only 200hp, and doesn't rev high lol
Recommending 🤠 they’ll let you use regular!
@@AlanisKing True, but it does further reduce the already low horsepower
downside with the Si is the Honda dealerships, Type R markup i understand but $3-5k markup for a Si no thanks. ended up getting a BRZ under sticker
BRZ is so fun too. Nice choice! Sorry you couldn’t get an Si!
which area are you getting the gr86 under retail?
@@McDzySubaru VIP program, dont have to deal with Toyota markups and Subaru actually allows you to put in a factory order built to the exact spec you want
It’d be a budget Type R if it were available as a HATCHBACK & had 230HP
The R in type R literally stands for racing.
It does not! You can watch my last video on the TLX Type S to learn that. Here is a quote directly from Acura, published by The Drive:
“While there is no set meaning to the ‘R’ or ‘S,’ historically Type R has been reserved for track-ready models and Type S, while tuned on track, are more geared towards spirited, winding road performance. If you wanted to surmise them as ‘Race’ and ‘Sport,’ we wouldn’t correct you.”
@ Thanks for your reply. I’m watching your type R video right now as you type this. Awesome videos.! I’m pretty sure I will be owning the championship White type R in the next couple of weeks. I’ve been in the market and I am almost at MSRP with no silly fees or add-ons. Subscribed.
I just can't... How can the Si and even Integra compete with the Hyundai Elantea N?!
They're so overpriced for what you get. Where's the performance?
They aren't tho
The Elantra N (compared to the market, which is really impacted by inflation) is just such a price undercut
@@AlanisKingFirst, let me say, GREAT video! Watching the Type R video now.
And yea, it really is. I heard it was because Hyundai uses Korean steel for their cars, which prevents outsourcing/importing prices and thus, lower costs. Not sure if it's true.
But I agree, the civic/integra should come with more power. BARE MINIMUM 228HP AND 258TQ.
Or atleast extend the arranty to a reasonable custome tune.
Orrrrrr Honda can create a new reasonable tune and either do an "update" or sell it to us from the dealership. Something, ANYTHING. Lol
I want this so badly but the honda dealer near me marks it up $10k.
No way! Wow
I don't like red. I would get the Urban Grey Pearl, since like the HR-V Sport, is not available in Boost Blue Pearl, or Aegean Blue Metallic.
Still the most affordable priced car for the money in the U.S. for its standards.
However, Honda can no longer stay stagnant and rest on their laurels going into the 12th gen Civic for the 2026 calendar year for the 2027 model year.
The next gen 12th generation Civic Si is going to have to become a performer and it starts with a better engine. Retire the 1.5T and use the old B Series engine from the DC2 Integra Type R and do a lot of in-house rework and slap a turbocharger on it and there's a new 1.8T. Bring back i-VTEC, and push the performance to at least 230-240hp and 215-225lb-ft of tq. If I'm being honest, I'd like a manual transmission upgrade. If they want to continue being the best selling manual transmission brand in North America or the world, it's time to retire the 6-speed manual transmission and upgrade to a 7-speed manual transmission for the 12th gen Civic Si (and the 7th gen Civic Type R).
After that, they can do whatever they want when it comes the interior, the wheels, the infotainment system, the fit and finishes, etc...
Its a handsome car but its power is underwhelming, maybe if honda added 15 more hm it would make it more appealing.
Yes! Totally
As a native Spanish speaker, the title is completely true, not sure why some are having heartburn about it :)
(No but seriously, at least here in Mexico, Honda and Toyota are definitely upper-middle or lower-top tier brands, Nissan and other brands are a notch down with some Chinese brands looking at stealing their lunch).
Hahahaha I think one person misunderstood. The other is a regular joke/troll commenter. I think the title is cute too! Thanks for watching 🤠
I thought the Civic would be competing against the Elantra N-Line which I think is cheaper, has the same horsepower, buuuuut it does not have a differential.
It does, by definition. My argument here is that the Si and top-tier N are still too close in price, and the Si needs to close that performance gap a bit
@@AlanisKing I get where you're coming from now. If the Si was priced in the sub-$30k range, then it would be a totally different story.
Pretty big trunk considering this is the sedan and not the hatchback. 😮 🚗
Yes! Huge!
This car does not compete with the Elantra N... It competes with the Elantra N-Line.
You're right, in terms of being the middle-tier of performance! My argument is not about exact market segment, it's that the Si is not enough of a price undercut on the top-tier N
@AlanisKing I guess that's exactly why I'm saying it doesn't compete. It doesn't compete in power or price. It's apples to apples with the N-Line
Vw GTi is the OG hot hatch! Stop it! Lol
Nice Jeans Alanis love the style
I really wish Honda would offer more customization opportunities that don't force us to go the aftermarket route. Offering four colors with very few options is pretty sad.
Totally agree. Blue! Gold! Orange!
Instilling the fear of God on the kids/rear seat passengers help keep the rear seat clean.
Still a deal at 31-32k
I agree! The Elantra N just encroaches on its market foothold
Yea, but the Elentra N , is well...really ugly, especially the rear end. I have a 24 Si and I really love it. I wish it had a little more off the line grunt, and that 1st gear is so short.
You say lots of room to work under the hood but I can’t tell, you never showed under the hood 😤
You can see my arms fitting in there!
Nice jacket too
🤠🤠
fuel injected engines had been around since the 1950s they're not a new invention also the engine in the 1986 civic was less than 2 liters 1.5 to be exact due to tax rules in Japan it was the top selling car in the compact class in the US last year with 242,000 units sold #2 was Toyota Corolla 233,000 though the later has been on the US best sellers list since 1979 first Japanese car to make the American top 10 at #8 257,000 units
I said all of this! The video says the 1986 Civic Si was the first fuel-injected Civic engine (Civic specifically). The video also says it was 1.5 liters
Getting pricier with less power, less reliability, less engagement. The civic Si is a disappointment compared to what it used to be! I’ve owned 8th and 9th gen si’s and they have been some of the greatest cars I’ve ever owned but ever since the 10th gen I wouldn’t consider or recommend these cars to anybody. That 1.5 liter turbo was the worst mistake Honda has ever made! 🤷♂️
What do you have now?

What is your point? And maybe a car in 1887 cost a nickel. Everything gets more expensive every year.
Time sure flies
Honda Sivic
too bad Honda reliability has gone down significantly.
Not enough to match the horrible reliability of the rest.
Lol
FWD cars are just so lame. I can’t do it.
Lots of people say this! I actually don’t mind. I think FWD cars have a lot of heritage, and it’s kind of fun to have those FWD quirks (wheel hop, torque steer, etc.)
I thought si meant yes in Spanish
It does!
It’s just right!
not spainsh it's Japanese. i like automatic put in drive then go. civic came from 1970s.
The joke is that “Si” is pronounced “S-I,” but written as “Si” (“yes” in Spanish). Civic Si is a specific trim, which began in 1986
Beter than the 2005 Civic Si, due to 2005 position on the engine Spark Plugs were under the Wingsheild Wiper.. A girl asked me if I could change her Spark plugs then I said maybe.. Popped Hood and I said the Dealership wanted $460 + she said yes.
