  • Jeffrey Wessel, DDS, MS had an unusual case. An 18-year-old male patient came into his office after noticing his teeth were moving. After a thorough exam, the patient was diagnosed with aggressive periodontitis (gum disease).
With widespread destruction at such a young age, the LANAP protocol was the ideal treatment option. LANAP surgery is regenerative, regrowing bone and ligaments, as compared to osseous surgery which is resective, cutting away tissue to decrease pocket depths.
Healing and bone regrowth was remarkable and six years later, the patient still has all of his teeth.
