American Truck has the smooth, continuous tape OE flares for 18-20s. They come with 24 self taps for the underside lips. Drill 1/8" pilot holes after it's tape mounted, drive the screws then paint 'em black and Bobs yer Uncle.
This is why I don’t use the adhesive tape. I remove my flares 3 times a year to clean/clay bar/wax behind them. Using the tape,as I have learned, created a struggle when removing it.
Use self tapping screws on the underside with red thread locker.
Probably the solution is to get the flares from Ford/Bushwacker. Am looking at those, but seems like a lot of metal and heavy plastic, so
probably for a set of four they'd weigh a ton.
I ended up buying some Raptor style fender flares. Haven't installed them yet though. Been sitting in my truck bed for 2 years now I think 😆
@@darktoylord I understand, I have a grille in my garage I've yet to install. Meanwhile, I think I'm going to wait on the flares. I still am trying to figure out what else I'm going to do, or not do with my wheels. So wouldn't make sense to proceed with other things till I get that sorted out. But I liked yer vid, an example of trial and error a lot of us go through. It's all fun, and at least we're doing something that shouldn't get us in jail.
@@darktoylord OH BTW, have you looked into the EZ Flares...? When I get things sorted out, I might just try those. Probably the EZ Flares XL, but depends on my wheels situation.
@@donquixote... I hadn't heard of them before. I'll have to check them out. Thanks for the heads up.
I got the bushwhacker flares 👍🏻 from real truck , uses real mounting body clips and bolts
Try butyl tape.
That is the stuff that goes between panels on a pole barn..
It is used in some automotive applications also.
Great idea! It's also used on RVs to adhere edge trim and keep water out of seams. It stays sticky for years but doesn't leave residue.
Use 3M VHB automotive tape. It's super sticky. Even try a double layer in case it's not thick enough..
Christopher Boivin Hope it works out.
Use REAL 3M tape and it will hold. (There are actually fake listings for "3M" body tape and it is crap) The real stuff might even well with a dent puller (I just thought of that while typing) Get wide tape instead of using 2 skinny pieces.
Never use tape for body modifications. Tape is meant to be used in conjunction with bolts, screws, tabs, etc... Tape WILL ALWAYS fail.
So the moral of the story is don't modify products and have high expectations, got it 👍
I have those same sunglasses
But I agree, i don't like the side flares that stick out past the truck.
Self tapping screws and some black paint?
I agree with you .Why is this such a problem!
Why do you need your truck to look more aggressive?
Try self drillers 4 per fender should work
Sorry I didn't reply sooner. Totally missed this comment. I actually have Raptor style fender flares now. Not installed yet so that video will be coming in the near future.
@@darktoylord good luck I'm pulling for you
Just drill the holes. A guy with an f150 probably knows how to use a drill. My 2010 has the pattern of where to drill. Check yours. It may have the pattern already.
Have you found a solution since this video was posted? I'm in the same predicament- my '17 F150 didn't come with factory flares, I want the low profile oe flares, but can't seem to locate ones that don't require drilling into the body, which I'm also not down with. Thanks for the video.
3 years later did you find a solution?
Try VHB tape
