As you said Josh these fish do not belong in the aquarium hobby, In fact most of the fish you have to rescue don't belong in the hobby!!!! Keep up the great work 😉🐟🐡🐠👍
You did an amazing job Josh! Great video. Never seen a fish actually puke before!😳 The rec pool pond looks absolutely beautiful at night. Lovely footage. Love to your Mum and Dad ❤️
I'm crushed about the Leporinus, but as a long time hobbyist myself I know it happens. I love watching your videos and y'all do amazing work in helping this hobby with the care and dedication to these monster fish. I wish stores would stop selling these catfish and other big fish for the home aquariums. I learned my lesson way back in 1990 when I bought a Bala and 2 Iridescent sharks. Stores back then really didnt school the public and there wasnt Google to research. When mine were 15inches I donated them to a 5000gal tank at a feed store where they loved out their lives. When I'm out I try and school buyer's at the local fish stores on what not to get and why. Thank you for all that you do in educating the unawared public about proper fish care and proper tank sizes that are a must for maintaining these beautiful fish.
Some of these comments smh.... you did amazing Josh! I remember when one of Matt’s monster fish ate a tank mate so big it actually poked outside the stomach! And he lived, the eater not the eaten. Shit happens! You guys do phenomenal work for America’s fish 🐠 love everything you guys do! Tell your Mom she’s in my daily prayers and I look forward to seeing her back on the channel!! Much love ❤️ Kymberly
It is amazing to see the challenges presented by housing so many predatory, and other, large fish in one aquarium, even if it is 4400 gallons. Thank you for sharing this video with us. We are all glad that Ohio Fish Rescue is around to provide a safe environment as possible for all those fish.
You're totally right, Paroons, like Arapaima, should just not be available in the hobby at all, or have a license so expensive it would put off all the people who couldn't provide a real home for them. Love and prayers to your family and your mum, mate, you are all in our thoughts daily and we wish Tracy swift healing.
@@MrZachgonz I agree on red tail cats and pacu, I'm not so sure when it comes to shovelnoses and similar which are smaller and already command a decent price which keeps the numbers lower. Again, licensing for a significant amount of money would dissuade the newbies and the big box stores from selling them to the newbies.
I had a good chuckle when josh said “i cant believe 2 things, 1) he was able to catch the other fish... and B) he was able to each such a large fish lololol. 1-B. Lmao
Sad that the lep got eaten! It’s all part of the hobby. Importantly I wanted to share the filming you did for this video. The angle and camera placement to show the 4400 gallon tank while u were catching the paroon shark was awesome. I guess you placed the camera on the Koi tank or something. I could actually gauge the real size of the of the 4400 with that camera position. It looked like I was looking at a very large public aquarium. Probably you guys should use the same camera placement in the future to show the 4400!! Good luck my friend. All the support and Prayers to Tracy!!!! Staying fishy Joshie!
I’m glad I watch this channel (not that I wouldn’t do research anyways). This one time my mom decided she wanted to come with me while I was picking up new fish at the lfs. She found these cute little stripy fish and was like “oh get those!!” I glanced at them and was like “Noooope. Those are baby leporinus.” Thankful I don’t often see baby monster fish for sale around me but it really irks me when I do see them. All of us here know: you don’t need a pacu!!!!!
Some of these big fish, even 2 foot and up were in extremely small tanks before OFR where they could barely even move around. They are lucky to be there.
Really sucks about the leporinus, he was one of my faves in that tank. But after a week tearing my hair out over various fin ripping and bullying in my tank and feeling like a failure because I can't seem to put together a " live and let live" tank... I feel better knowing it's not just me. Even when everything looks like a go, some fish will get hungry, act up, assert dominance or decide to bully their tankmate. It is an ongoing process in nature so I don't know why I think it won't happen at home. I hope that shark doesn't terrorize the pond.
Here I am thinking my little angels are getting big haha. Love you guys' videos, and love your dedication to the hobby despite what's going on in your lives. Massive respect to you all
Don't you have a video of the fish that got eaten? It would be nice if you could show us in this video and we don't have to search and watch another one to know about the fish.
boy that was a good netting then he got away and he puked after you thought he wouldn't puke but anyways that was a good ketch Josh you're such a good guy anyway stay fishing my friend
I had one many years ago not really knowing about them, he basically tried to eat and was sometimes successful every other fish I had except my Pacu's. I always wondered how you guys managed to keep them without any in incidents. Do you think he will last in the big pond. Love your videos and continued Prayers sent to your family.
I got one 15" paroon shark aka the "kong ming" last year into my 5 ft tank without knowing the terror of this fellow. Just within one hour after introducing it into my tank, it swallowed the head of my 10" flowerhorn! I quickly took a long stick to hit the kong ming's head and managed to save the flowerhorn in time
Wow. That's really sad. I was so excited when I watched the rehoming of the Pacu in a previous video and got so excited when I spotted the banded leporinus in a tank in a back ground. Stunning fish, cant get them in Australia. Rip little guy. 😥
A couple of months ago I found a small blind cave tetra with the tail of a guppy hanging out of its mouth in my 40 gallon community. That's when I decided he was big enough to go in my rainbow/synodontis tank with his 2 much larger blind cousins. That was annoying. Luckily he outswam the synodontis long enough to be out of lunch size.
You have to be REALLY careful with picking tank mates for the lung fish or he'll get out competed for food, they are slow and chews the food and spit it out several times no matter what food it is. So other fish can snatch it away from him even if he actually is able to get some food in the first place. And they are almost completely blind and locate food by smell IIRC. Definitely choose other slow fish like plecos or maybe put him in with Pittsburg? Since they wont compete for the same food...
Catfish hunt at night when regular fish like Leporinus can’t see so being fast doesn’t matter if you can’t see it coming. You should already know this.
Can you please create a list in a downloadable PDF file with pictures and names of fish that grow that big so that we can spread it in groups and pages so that people stop buying them in fish stores. It's sad for fish and for owners. Thank you for your education and your great work rescuing those giants.
Nice one josh dealing with it on your own 👍 shame about the fish I find sometimes a fish just enters lower in the food chain than expected. sending love to your mom from the uk
Could you spell the name of the fish that was eaten? I wanted to search it to see what it looked like but apparently I cant spell it from just listening to you say it. Sorry for the dumb question.
That's what came up in my search, I just didnt think it was right because I didnt realize Leporinus would be a hard to tackle prey item for a paroon shark, considering how large the shark's bodies and mouths are. I've heard Leporinus can to a decent size and can be bullies. But I learned something new, they're fast, they're big, but not for a paroon shark 😬
Can not believe the paroon shark!! For nothing to as he brought it back up!! At least he didn't explode like that glooper cat fish eating the shovelnose! Thoughts to Tracey and the family in these times.
I'd be pissed off and shocked, too! 😤😮 What a fucking nightmare this turned out to be for you. Damn! Maybe the reason they are called "sharks" is not only because of their fins? Hang in there, buddy!
I'd love to win the lottery and be able to buy a property and facilities to start keeping fish on this scale, I'd never get bored of keeping huge monster fish like these.
I think I used to have 1 of that. It swims the fastest and it gets rattled pretty easily. I put it together with gold fishes and it wasn't aggressive at all
I would be interested in seeing a video show casing the price of some of those fish if you were to buy them. I imagine you've got 250k just in fish, the size of them is huge.
@@jimothyj2638 is it tho?because prople here cultivate em as most of palembang dishes are made from that fish. Actually the paroon shark is the substitue for another fish that already difficult to find, which science name is "chitala blanci".

Josh the Fish Whisperer, yelling at the paroon shark to stop puking. Aquaman would be proud lol
😂
I love the transparency on this channel 🙌
The best part was the “oh my god pacu get out of the way”. Lol the pacu’s expression is “hey I’m just chilling here.”

Your whole demeanor changed when he puked 😂😂😂
😂😂😂 glad you can tell, I know the danger of a fish puking. But luckily we have enough water that it didnt do damage

T H I feel like Tiger Shovelnose catfish and Red Tail catfish as well should not be available.

T H yes Pacu for sure and even Bala sharks get pretty large. My local petco sells Pacu only for $3.99 and they sell fast!
my paroon shark took down a Chinese wels that even LONGER than the shark itself
by somehow he just pushing out the wels and tears it into peaces
Paco is like a child just walking around into people's conversations.
@1:18 "oh my Gah, pacu, get out the way" got a lil laugh from me.
Thanks again for another vid, Josh.
Way to take care of things! You are making your parents proud!
Peace, Love and Health to all of you! 👣 Prayers for Tracy. 👣
Ditto that! Nice job Joshie! Shame he ate his tankmate -- but shyt happens.
Your dedication to the hobby is appreciated and you guys are all amazing! Stay strong OFR

Haha I didn't catch that 😂.
That's so sad, but it does happen with predatory fish, I'm glad you made a video, people need to know this.
You yelled at him like a dad yells at his kid😂😂😂
They are my kids 😂
Please add a screen shot of deceased fish when possible...in memorial. Thx for keeping up the good work, ignore the trolls.
Thanks for still putting out videos with everything you have going on with your parents ofr is awesome
From seeing how much you guys do I’ve been inspired to start a betta rescue. I’m saving to start with ten 10 gallon tanks
1:19 "Oh my God Pacu get out the way" hahaha I don’t know why, but that cracked me up
(Edited to add the time stamp)
All fish are predators, even the smallest ones, so things happen, just another day at Ohio Fish Rescue. Keep Fishy Josh!

Comparatively maybe still seems on the small side for the amount of large fish he has
Very nice job working one handed!
This was a wild video! I cant believe you managed to film all of this by yourself! Good job Josh!
Good job man, eventually you're gunna be the one to carry on this legacy, make sure it's as great as you're already making it. Bless.

They call them "Dog eating catfish" in Thailand for a reason!
I didn't comprehend how big the fish and the tank were until josh set up the tripod.
Crazy he caught and ate that those fish are fast... Thanks for the video. God bless you guys

HE SHOULD BE GOOD, BUT EVENTUALLY WE MIGHT HAVE TO REMOVE A COUPLE SMALLER FISH BEFORE HE GETS WAY BIGGER
Never a dull moment with the monsters...

Getting the fish out of the first tank... just pure chaos. Subscribed.
That shark looked pretty calm and confident despite what it had done :D

That is a huge fish. Will to help in the organization by I’m far away from the area. But will love to stop by and see those monsters.
Damn Josh, now you gotta clean that tank.
Beast mode with the dedication, badass job josh
I love seeing you guys add fish to the pond it’s unfortunate that this had to be the reason why

What about the other shark fish in the tank? Are you concerned they will eat the fish too?
We are hobbiest we make mistakes.🙋
Praying for tracy.
That big of a meal would definitely take longer than a day for it to digest
sean Okami @josh with the amateur mistake on that one.

Omg!! 😱🤯Insane bro... hope he wont go beserk after the cichlid colony in the pool... good one joshy... 👍👍
