The NX and RX JUST got redesigned and the TX was likely designed alongside this so I think this look will be uniquely to the GX unless the refresh LX picks up some of its design language
I’ll preface with nice review and I enjoyed it. No mention of headlights, high beams, fog lights… hardly a “nighttime” review. I’d change that title to “I made this video at night” instead.
We have a 2017 GX, love the side opening rear door😊 we call it our adventure vehicle. Very intrigued by the GX550, awesome overviewnof the model offering, just excellent.
Overtrail for me. That extra cargo space is very important for me. I carry a lot of stuff and long items frequently. my 4Runner 89.7 cu ft was just enough to be acceptable with the roll down window to carry lumber this weekend. But that luxury trim is tempting tho.
@@MarkPharaohthe thing with leases are that people seem to be a little hard on them since they know they are returning it anyways. See if you can find one that’s not a lease
@@NanJa-hi7dl this just isn’t true. from my experience of buying off lease luxury vehicles for just under 20 years now, they are typically in immaculate condition. Only exception I tend to see are sport sedans.
The 2024 Lexus GX is the most handsome Lexus I've ever seen! The design is absolutely perfect! Too bad the Luxury's Dynamic Plus panoramic sunroof doesn't slide open and the Overtrail's sunroof, while does open, only covers the front passengers. Also no option for 2nd row ventilated seats on all trims. I hope Lexus offers them on the next model year (even as options) like in the new TX!
Will Lexus have a showing in NY or Connecticut? I went to a show in Conn. about 18 years ago on a horse farm and drove the new LX at the time which was amazing.I would love to go to a new showing of the GX550 to decide which one I should buy. Thank you for any info you can provide. Also thank you for your great video's keep them coming.
Toyota has always had what I call deep-squat rear seats where for tall people, your tailbone sits at lower elevation than your knee. Looks like this one has been slightly improved but not as comfortable as other manufacturers.
Great update and they will sell a lot of them BUT, I have one gripe that seems like an obvious poor design choice. The upper inside door trim (driver window sill) has got this pointy design to it that is just absolutely annoying to rest your arm on. I come from a 4x4 with a nice flat low wind sill to rest your arm on, it's fantastic by comparison. Why would Lexus design something that is purposefully annoying to rest your arm on? it makes zero sense. Minor issue I know, but it's those daily touch points that really make you comfortable in a vehicle.
Thanks for showing the colors! Very helpful . Too bad they don’t still offer a red. I’ll be curious to hear what you think of the interior visibility out the back window , it looks a little smallish ?
I am disappointed they got rid of the rear HVAC controls. We have one and my kids use that. I do want a new one but that’s a bit of a shame they removed it
Do you know if there will be an f-sport variant available later on? Love the look already but I can imagine how much better it’d look with the fsport treatment.
I am going from a full akrapovic Ti Exhaust to this exact set up. My F80 has a BM3 tune that allows for open valves in sport mode from dash. How can this be persevered with the new valvetronics, is it still just plug and play with the oem actuator?
Just depends on the buyers needs GX is a body-on-frame full time 4wd SUV with a only-useable-for-children 4rd row (if non-overtrail) TX is a larger (longer by ~10 inches!) unibody SUV with roomier 2nd and 3rd row for families. also comes in hybrid if efficiency is wanted
Pretty sure all Lexus vehicles have been tuned for premium since the early 2000’s but it’s not required on any modern vehicle. The engine will automatically de-tune the engine. I run regular in my LX everyday.
Kirk, thanks for the video! Any idea when they will start selling these at dealerships? Also, which color do you personally like more, atomic silver or incognito?
10:55 The two teslas w/ the BMW tucked in. Hiddious. All three are ugly, i have strong opinions about their design. Then you look at the GX and I simmer down. Serinity now...
Thanks Kirk for the lineup review. I know there’s a lot of hype about the design of the new Prado and GX but I really would have preferred if they left that styling for an all new FJ and JX. When you’re soo used to the Prado and GX supposed to being more premium looking design and a bit like the Range Rover Sport is to the Range Rover… for me it’s a lot of change. I guess it’s not feasible for Lexus to have a JX (Defender), GX (RRS) and LX (RR). The 2850mm wheelbase limit probably also limits having 3 models… the LX should have been 3050mm so the GX could be 2950mm and JX at 2850mm so the latter still perfect for off roading. The two-tone interior is also not my preference for the Premium and Luxury grades
This is really nice! However, it's way too boxy for my tastes and it looks like a refrigerator on wheels! Also, the rear space isn't really more spacious than a sedan! And the mpg isn't that good! although it is a SUV but 17 mpg combined is bad when a Tahoe can get 20!
This rear door are not designed with mall car park in mind they designed with LC Dakar trophy in mind, easy reliable, always working 👍 that's what you want from LC, Lexus after parting with 70k ish of your hard earned cash 👍

Put me in the hate camp when it comes to the barn door in back. I also hated the built-in 3rd row in the 460. I've got no need for a 3rd row and the built-in 3rd row in the GX uses up a ton of room, even when collapsed.

Don't know why everyone is so excited about the 550, it is so bland, can't tell if it is a Toyota or a Jeep from the rear. They had to spell out Lexus so you didn't think it is a Toyota Grand Highlander. Come on, this is a huge disappointment, no KDSS, no distinctive styling and to add insult to injury, they did away with the V8. Twin turbo because the 6 cylinder is too weak to power the car without the boost from the turbo Glad I bought the 460 in February, distinctive, no mistaking it for a Toyota or Jeep and I won't have to replace the turbos at 100K miles.
