Well done and excellent review. I am a Badlands Pro (Jacket & Pants) owner. When I need to replace the lot (if ever), I can be confident KLIM has what I need standing by.
Stunning products. I have an older badlands pro and have had it 8 years and visited 30 countries, from Norway to central asia to Morocco to the Himalayas and umling la at 5800 metres. Epic. Negative comments are from cheap charlies who dont appreciate quality and design.
Great review!!!! I’m looking at options for my ride next year for key west to AK. I have the marrakesh but want something water proof. Having to stop put on shell ain’t gonna work. Wow is that $$$$!
I have previous generation and I have to say, it’s excellent. I have ridden it in a week of torrential rain in Scotland and 10 days in Morocco and every thing in between. The vents really work, so much better than my Knox urban or RST with its waterproof lining removed. I would love to upgrade but price makes me wince.
Gently SUGGESTION: it is one of the most expensive since it is AAA and 3 level Gore-Tex. I think people expect it to be complete and final purchase, included myself. From people's review on youtube they all ask the same thing, add stripes or something to shape on the person's body the jacket at waist level, similar to arms stripe. (For example Revit Defender 3 GTX). I keep postponing my purchase. Collar, as well, It should be higher for the wind. Same for the pants, I would like to have 2 stripes at knees level, adding one the knee, so knees protection cannot go upper, or down in case of accidents
Thanks for highlighting. I wasn't aware of this jacket. Being KTM branded I believe you can only get it through KTM dealers so I've not seen many around. - Andrew
Yes.. wide & low collar. Why???? U need Klim Torrent storm collar (or Eska balaclava) . But Torrent has problems on it's own. I have Badlands + Torrent (or + Eska) Does your sleeves miss 1inch in lenghts? Test Eska for winter rides. Best on the market. Put it on the UR shelves.
@@AdventureRiderMoto I will tell to Klim guys @ Milan 😀 Will u be there? I buy a coffie in sweet place, by the main passage, after entrance on the upper level.
While I understand the metrics and the moonshot of simply choosing to implement the best of the best for every single aspect possible, the return on investment for buyers is concerning. The John Doe shirts we love to wear in the summer use Kevlar and also have a CE AAA rating. Throw on a decent (10,000mm column) rain jacket and we're at the same level of waterproofing and safety. Sure, the individual features (fitment, features etc) are what differentiate it all but how hard could it be to implement them in a decent Kevlar jacket for half the price? If we're insistent on going "premium" then why not implement that Ballistex stuff that Pando uses as the innermost liner (AAA rated again) and anything on top of that would just be feature upon feature, with whatever wizardry 30,000mm waterproof and breathable membrane Leatt is using as the inner-outer weather protection (which, by the way, can be had for 2/3 of the price if you just buy the mountain biking jacket instead of the motorcycle one). Playing top trumps is a game of diminishing returns at some point.
Yeah, lately I’ve been championing buying a mesh jacket with the pads like revit proteus or adventure spec super shirt and then adding what you need on top from the store of your choice. Want a high tech water proof shell? Even the best gore tex pro jacket is gonna be cheaper than a jacket like the Klim. But yes, unlike the integrated waterproofing in a jacket like the badlands pro the regular gore tex shell will rip to pieces if you fall at speed.
@@simulacrae This is a weird one where I'm not entirely sure where the value lies. Leather is the king of slides and can be reused nearly indefinitely but needs to be cared for. 400 denier polyester has only one slide in them but are super cheap, 600 can take about two long/hard slides and ripstop about three. Then comes the whole "600D here 400 here" or "Superfabric here, reinforcement here" stuff. Most waterproof membranes are not abrasion resistant or simply conduct too much heat even if they are. If Leatt has managed to finagle a 30k/30k membrane from some manufacturer/materials science lab, why not sell the 7.5 DriTour with it integrated as a 2 layer laminate? Since waterproof membranes can be replaced why doesn't someone make one with all the pockets and venting of an outer shell that riders need? Either there is a massive void in the market or I'm missing something technical that doesn't add up (beyond the obvious "every zipper is an entry point for moisture").
Reply to myself because apparently I can't read. The HydraDri membranes from Leatt don't have any abrasion resistance so they would need to overlay some sort of polyester on top of the membrane in the Dritour anyway.
There is simply no justification to £1600 for a jacket other than the brand name and that the buyer wants to pay for it. These jackets offer nothing better than jackets less than half or even a third of this price.
Wrong and expensive direction. Try wearing something like this in 85F + temps! All vents open will not make it tolerable. That means a 2nd jacket for hot temps, then costs soar even more. How about a Knox Honister AAA or Klim AA Marrakesh that’s wearable in the summer, and for winter, layers, heated liner, GoreTex rain outer that work as well as the Badlands, is more comfortable, and at a fraction of the cost.
I was in an accident last friday and the badlands pro a3 was a lifesaver.

Take a look at KTM's Terra Adventure Pro. Should also be AAA! :)
Great reviews! You're my favorite so far!

Thanks for the feedback. What are the issues you've found with the Torrent collar?

Just try a badlands on. And feel the qualand desfeatures simply ooze out. Stunning. Buy yes, pricy. But I am worth it
Fantastic return on investment. 8 years, 30 countries and still going strong. Get saving
