So relaxing! 🌙 I am loving this game so far, and watching you play, I can tell you enjoy it too. Your commentary is so spot on, and I really dig how detailed it is! Doesn't hurt that you also have an amazing whispered voice. I share your frustration with the ladder/door placements in ship building. I hope that future updates/mods will allow us to change the weird way that these decide to show up. But I've put tons of hours into the game and have a few tips that I'll put below 👇 These tips come with the caveat that your ship will be bigger, but ladders and doors will be where you want them. I also use my boost pack to go up when in the ship instead of interacting with the ladder, and that saves me time. For ladder placement, I add a 1x1 hab above the correct side of the hab where I want my ladder to be, and then add my desired hab on top of that. (Like making a sandwich of 2x1 breads and a 1x1 filling) That way, there is only a hab above the correct side and no ladder can spawn on the 'wrong' side. It does mean that you have to go up and down more floors, but with the jetpack, to me it is worth it. It also means that on the outside, your ship is 3 units tall instead of 2, and there is a small gap now next to the 1x1, but it works out pretty well to put a cargo module there. For door placement, there is actually a pretty elegant solution. In the Valo system, on planet Polvo, there is a settlement called Hometown. Inside Hopetech, you can talk with the ship saleswoman at the counter and modify your ships. This vendor offers Nova habs that are essentially hallways (- and | are sold, but no + variant exists). Using these will make your ship wider or longer, as they are 1x1 for both versions of hallway. But it guarantees that a door will be placed wherever the hallway connects to another hab!
