It’s so much easier to play a trumpet without puffing your cheeks just tighten up the corners of your mouth and play and you can scream WAY easier that way because you get a more controlled buzz in the mouth piece
First off one of my favorite bands but come on trumpets if you’re supposedly a screamer hear the pitch in your head before you play don’t just blow and slide into notes sounds sloppy.

Viveca SU fan 4 life this has been going on for awhile like I said I enjoy seeing southern play one of my favorite bands but it’s some songs dudes slide into notes or either lay out skate for a while and come in and scream a few notes it’s not a every performance type thing but a band of their caliber shouldn’t be allowing themselves to perform on that level

Keep working man. Make sure you practice your scales, long tones, pedal tones and lip slurs. You can find examples of all of those on google and RUclips if you dont know what they are.
I dont know why but I dont get the same feeling I do when Southern use to do this in the 2000-10 era. It sounds sloppy. Maybe the talent pool is lower idk. This just didn’t give me the stank face
U couldn't hear all this on VHS tapes. The audio quality of now exposes EVERYTHING. SU also was under a completely different direction and the competition to be in the band was a lot stiffer because the bands instrumentation capped at a much lower number.

The quality of audio could be the case but from seeing Southern in person a lot in my younger days I don’t remember them sounding this sloppy & unbalanced. Thats just my critical opinion. It could be because I was 14-22 back then & I wasn’t as experienced in music compared to now or maybe those older bands were truly that good.
