  • This dark coaster tells the story of Disney's "The Black Hole" Movie. Blast into space and explore the derelict USS Cygnus orbiting around a black hole. After a fly by, land inside the Cygnus to meet up with the explorers from the SS Palomino including their trusty robot V.I.N.C.E.N.T. Then journey to the bridge to meet the suspicious Dr. Hans Reinhardt and his robot companion Maximilian (Max). Dr. Reinhardt is also assisted by a crew of humanoid shaped robots. Explore the ship further as you and one of the Palomino crew see the robots curiously holding a funeral for one of their deceased. The Palomino crew member runs back to the bridge and pulls the face plate off a robot revealing its a human! Dr. Reinhardt orders Max to attack. While evading him the ship is hit by asteroids and starts to break up. A panel falls on Dr. Reinhardt. The Palomino crew fights off Max while you make it to the escape pod and blast out of the ship. The damaged pod spins wildly out of control, weaving in all directions around the ship, until finally getting pulled into the black hole. Will you survive?

    Brad, this was really cool, and very imaginative. I call this a loving tribute to The Black Hole! Well done! (Heh...I could only imagine if Maximilian had killed Dr. Durant with THOSE cutters. LOL!)

    If I was a billionaire, I would give you the 50M it would cost to build this. Really top shelf man...

      Thanks - I bet it would cost even more than that to build!

      Actually, that might not be true; Considering Space Mountain in Disneyland only cost $18 million to build.

      That was in the 70's! The Jurassic Park ride at Universal Hollywood cost $100M and its relatively small. :)

      Yeah, if you look at the Efteling's new Symbolica ride, it's cost was €35M euros

    So dope! I love all the elements that you included and you quite literally told the story of The Black Hole as the viewer goes through the ride. Truly artistic and awesome.

    This was amazing! Everything was right on point, the mid ride part on the ship was great! Trick them into getting calm and then thrust them into the crazy part!
    Would love to see it with lights on

      Thanks - If you have the game, you can download the track at the Steam link above and play with it (such as turning the lights on).

    BRILLIANT ride! I loved this movie as a kid. (even had the action figures. Ha ha) VINCENT and MAXIMILLIAN! Faithful recreations here. The ship looks phenomenal and I loved all the dark ride parts telling the story. Downloading now!

      It is incredible. Much more compact than I expected. And I was surprised that your starry background was just the ceiling and walls of the cave with little lights. Looks great...like real stars in space. I'm also impressed the whole darkride portion is actually inside the ship!

    • @BradHamiltonVideo
      @BradHamiltonVideo  7 лет назад

      Thanks - I got the idea for the starry background from a star wars planet coaster posting on Steam - Search for "Star Wars - Death Star Strike" on the Steam workshop - That person further enclosed the cave with black panels but I was too lazy to do so. The cave works well enough assuming you ride at night (and might possibly have worked fine during the day if I buried things deeper underground). The original concept for the ride was going to be to have people walk down into the ship and the launch the ride from there, but I changed my mind and figured that was a very large space inside, so I figured I'd try to fit a dark ride in there and it actually worked out! :)

      I think it took about a week elapsed time with a few hours each day - it was much simpler than my later rides

    Dam, that sation and spaceship looks amazing. I was like: pls, can we go into the ship? and luckily it did. But the best part was the broken part and the outside of the ship.
    Music could be louder even. I'd rather hear music than people screaming, but it's a nice addition i guess.

    • @BradHamiltonVideo
      @BradHamiltonVideo  7 лет назад

      Thanks - Yes I was really happy with the way the broken part turned out. The music is adjustable in game if you download the map. I guess you are suggesting on the video. Due to numerous suggestions to cut the "screaming" I've filmed my newer rides in test mode so there is no screaming. Look at my BladeRunner video for an example (go to my channel or just search for "Blade Runner Planet Coaster"

    Looks like a great ride and a lot of effort went in to it but where was the actual Black Hole?

    • @BradHamiltonVideo
      @BradHamiltonVideo  5 лет назад +1

      Yeah I couldn’t figure out a way to make it very visible - if you look straight ahead before entering the Cygnus you can barely make it out - look for a slightly dense halo of stars around a black disk

      3:05-3:07, on the left; it's lit from above and behind so it looks like the black sphere it would have to be. We might be able to do better with CGA holography, especially in the dark; you could even fly right into it for the big finish.

    Awesome coaster! Did I miss something, or was the asteroid crashing through the ship omitted?

    • @BradHamiltonVideo
      @BradHamiltonVideo  7 лет назад +2

      There is a small asteroid that crashes into the ship, but yes I had to skip the large one that rolls through the main area of the ship from the movie - The ride is definitely a simplification of the movie :)
