I recently traveled from San Francisco to Paris on United polaris class. The Polaris Lounge at the San Francisco Airport is excellent, way beyond my high expectations. On my way back from Paris, the senior cabin crew came to our seats to thank us individually for flying United. I definitely will fly United Business again.

It’s reassuring to see that the usual gaggle of United haters is alive and well. My last few flights in Polaris on the airline have been a pleasure. Enthusiastic crews and a decent hard product.

I flew United Polaris on 777-300er, first time ever. From Newark to Rome. It was a blast. Food service Polaris Lounge in Newark all fabulous. I'll be flying Polaris again April of 2025 to Sydney. I can't wait!

I live about 20 minutes from EWR, so I fly United all the time, domestically and internationally. No airline is perfect, but on the whole, I like United very much. My longest voyage was a trip to Singapore.
I cannot afford Polaris (I tend to save up and spend on experiences at my destination), so I speak from an Economy Class POV.

    • @oldporkchops

How did you like Singapore? It seems like an expensive place.

    • @get2dachoppa249
      @get2dachoppa249 4 месяца назад

Yes, it is expensive. It’s comparable to NYC, Tokyo, Hawaii, & London in that respect. However, I love the place and visit once a year. The street food is cheap and plentiful, Orchard Road has all the malls and all the shopping you can handle. The people are nice, there are several places to go like Gardens by the Bay. Sentosa Island is like a nice resort island with Universal Studios, beachfront entertainment, golf courses, and a Hard Rock Cafe. It is hot and muggy year round though since it’s only 80 miles away from the equator.

I’ve enjoyed my United flights. It is worth the extra money to travel in business class for long flights and at least extra legroom in economy on shorter flights, especially if you’re tall.

I fly regularly to Europe on business on United and always look for a polaris long haul flight on a 777 or 767 as the accommodations are far better compared to Lufthansa A330 A320 business class. Pro tip for Polaris = always pre-order your entrees online as the good stuff (beef and halibut) tends to sell out quickly.

Over 47 years, I have flown often with United. In the past two decades, the frequency has decreased significantly. In my view, from 1990-2015 or so, the quality of service, the cleanliness and experience of the aircraft, and schedule reliability were well below average. In recent years, I have flown with United (initially because other flights were not available) and have found the airline to have vastly improved in each of those areas. Depending on cost and schedule, I would definitely consider flying with them again.

Always nice to see you on my side of the pond, Doc. ;) As an aviation geek, by far the best part of any flight for me is just looking out the window. So, in general, I'm not a fan of business class seats, since they tend to be too far from the window and/or angled away from the window. However, the seat that you had was actually one that I wouldn't mind. Not angled and right beside the window. I still would rather save a lot of money and just get a window seat in economy. But, as always...to each their own. :)

United's profit for 2023 is pre-tax income of $1.5 billion. But they only offer PJs in Polaris Class on flights over 14 hours? Words escape me. The food was beyond revolting. Served all on one tray. And United wants Polaris to shine? Try polishing it a little bit more, kids. Excellent travel report, as usual!

After 2000 flights on 65 airlines, I suggest not to worry about cabin crew as in a dire situation they will help you for sure and some crews great and some the opposite and just let them do their job.
Too many influencers want to chit chat and then state they were dutiful but not friendly.
Many people travelling want peace too, a decent meal and sleep.
Most airlines similar premium so depends on where you want to go and what choice.
I flew many premium Chinese Airlines because of my work location but then due to understanding of Chinese airspace delays went back to NH and KE and nothing to do with how nice the crews were.
We are fortunate now we can fly around the world safely with generally good service and lounges but sometimes you maybe unlucky and find many frustrations but most people do their best I never pressure.
I find staff upgr 0:11 added the most annoying with demands but Sam Chui is the worst behaved passenger of them all.

United needs to return to serving meals as courses in business class. I get that airlines stopped this during the pandemic, but they seem to be hanging on to it and it makes the FA’s seem lazy for a stupid corporate decision.

Polaris lounge looks modern and clean with good selection of food. My abiding memory of Dulles Airport was an intended flight from Washington to London in 2002. On engine start-up, huge plumes of smoke started to come from the port engine and we were forced to return to the stand. All the passengers were bussed to a Holiday Inn for an overnight stay, and I can recall eating slightly warm pizza at midnight. Happy days! 😎

I don’t agree. I’ve flown Air France, KLM, British Airways, SAS, Sabena and Olympic (long ago, now defunct), and Turkish across the Atlantic. Delta and United are comparable to all except Turkish, which has a better catering service than the others. Not entirely sure what ‘lesser’ product for price you’re referring to - airline prices (particularly within airline partnerships) are similar. Perhaps economy class differs, but I don’t think so.

I agree with pacman. I also fly Qatar QSuites on the regular to Asia from the ME, but when it’s time to fly transatlantic to get back stateside, I go with UA because the overall value for the price is better than paying the substantial increase in airfare charged by QR, EK, & EY for the same destination.

I'm looking at the safety video thinking how unnecessary the theatrics are in light of the JAL collision this week. Safety videos shouldn't be set in any other environment other than the type being flown on with no comedic and humorous words. Yes, it sounds boring but theres absolutely nothing funny about an evacuation. Should actually be written into operating laws as a matter of urgency.😑

What a lovely video. Again, smooth, visuals, nice audio and informative sub titles. The UNITED AIRLINES needs to get their act together. On one of their screen displays, they showed air speed in miles per hour (mph) but they failed when they showed KPH. This failed attempt at conversion from Imperial measurement to Metric measurement, means NOTHING AT ALL. In the metric system, the symbol used to represent kilometer(s) is lower case "km". Metric notation does not take any plural forms. This is stipulated in the statutary design of the Systeme Internationale. The SI Units for speed are therefore "km/h". So, any representation of air speed would be "xxx km/h". There is no other alternative. There are no house styles. This is the legislated symbol. I'm not surprised, as the USA could never get its mind together when it comes to the Metric System.. SPEAK to them. Damn their isolation.
