Thanks for the compliment. Thanks also for the plug on your food costs$....we are putting up our greenhouse plastic today! Hopefully this helps on food costs later in the year 😊
Oh that's good to know I have never had anything from there...!! At least they try to carry fruit there! That's always great... Good customer service as well there at Town Site😊
We have brown crispy grass here in Florida. Rain desperately needed. First time viewer. It’s myself, husband, and 21 yr. old son residing in Florida the past four years after spending via NY.
Oh my, well that makes sense! It seems like all the joint aches and pains get worse for my husband and I in the winter here. It's been forever since I have worn shorts!! Like 8 years? Crazy
Live in Willow, not an incorporated town. Quick stop, Gas station and Hardware store. If you need lumber Doyle at ace has reasonable prices, if have what you need. They are opened year round and depend a lot on the tourist money: Winter snowmaching, summer camping and fishing. Most people go to Wasilla which is 35 miles away, 3 Bears at Pitman road or Big Lake 3 bears 1/2 hour away or take a 2 hour drive to Anchorage. These people have not been here very long I think so...I have been here since 1997.I lived in Bethel for 20 years where milk is now 12 dollars a gallon. We had to plan our needs mos in advance to get stuff on the barge. We have a senior center in Willow that gives rides for senior. This reminds of the bogus Brown family. Gas now at Newsman 3.64 a gallon. which is cheaper than Anchorage (except Costco) but not than Wasilla. Pitman is cheapest at 3.48 a gallon if have rewards and pay cash 3.59 without rewards and cash. Lots of people work in Wasilla or Anchorage (75 miles one way did that for 3 year. 5 days a week now just go to Wasilla sometimes daily to babysit grandkid. 45 min away) I guess to get the numbers people make things more dramatic. If don't work or low income have pantry in town to supplement. I am retired on fixed income so.. The Friday Farmers market is truthful.
Thank you....it's a super small rural town. No Lowes, no Safeway or Fred Meyer (yet)... however we don't care. We actually prefer this old fashioned style of living and community. We have lived in larger cities in Oregon and we prefer this hands down. The kids also enjoy meeting their community and participating in events. Thank you for watching! The snowman finally broke in half I think! We have been tracking his melting on the community posts. It's been fun
Ha! There James is...yes you are correct. Plus PFDs are nice too. We usually take all of that and prepay our property payments for the year. Thanks for watching. Hey guess what, it is sunny today!!! I have not checked on snowman yet.. what a resilient thing. Lol
Yes I literally can't believe he is still hanging out in mid April!... But it's Alaska, ... everything is extreme here - apparently even the snowman! Lol
Mowed green grass 4 times, garden planted by March 10, picked my first spring onion yesterday. Nite temps in low 50s and day in low 70s to high 70s. Prices for regular gas is $3.09/gallon and Spam is a $1 cheaper. Inflation has hit us hard. Baloney sandwiches are coming back! Lol.
Oh yes she was dressed up for town! It's nice to see all the kids shed the "winter gear" as temps warm up... You really do feel like gumby in the middle of winter with all the super thick gear!😊 makes it difficult to move around
I bet you do. I bet the truck stops hike up prices pretty good. The cheapest way to purchase bulk food here in my opinion is Costco. It's a trip into Anchorage for us ( so 4 hour drive total) but hey, it saves a lots of money $$$
I can already tell you would probably like it here Lots of space to do your own thing Choose wisely where you want to live Different places here offer different experiences and conveniences Houston/ Willow are smaller towns but still connected to road systems. Talkeetna is great if you won't be needing to go into town much Wasilla and Palmer are pretty busy, that's why we moved out of there
@@Alaskan6pack thank you for your wise suggestion. I am working on it. You're right, once you make a decision to relocate, it becomes difficult to move somewhere else.
Yes and very expensive... Especially up here. Hire folks for services up here after you get word of mouth they are good people. That's another tip Ask a friend, neighbor about people before having them help or work for you. It will save you lots of headaches! Lol
Welcome! To be honest we didn't live here 4 years ago in Willow area , so I can't say .... But good question and I have a feeling probably a bit cheaper...? I have another shopping video coming out soon where we travel to Wasilla and shop. Thank you for watching!😊
I am actually reading a book that is very interesting about that right now... Under an Ionized Sky by Elana Freeland Highly recommend. It's eye opening and disturbing. We try to focus on detoxing. We use activated charcoal, benonite clay, oregano oil, etc... part time job learning how to detox from all that stuff
We have talked about that to be honest. We just need to build a barn to be able to winter a milk cow. I have heard Jersey cows are one of the better ones to get? Good thought and we would love to do that. Oh the homemade things I could make with the cream, etc....😊
The prices didn't seem to bad except for the milk & eggs. Thanks for the drive around tour 😊
