Live in Willow, not an incorporated town. Quick stop, Gas station and Hardware store. If you need lumber Doyle at ace has reasonable prices, if have what you need. They are opened year round and depend a lot on the tourist money: Winter snowmaching, summer camping and fishing. Most people go to Wasilla which is 35 miles away, 3 Bears at Pitman road or Big Lake 3 bears 1/2 hour away or take a 2 hour drive to Anchorage. These people have not been here very long I think so...I have been here since 1997.I lived in Bethel for 20 years where milk is now 12 dollars a gallon. We had to plan our needs mos in advance to get stuff on the barge. We have a senior center in Willow that gives rides for senior. This reminds of the bogus Brown family. Gas now at Newsman 3.64 a gallon. which is cheaper than Anchorage (except Costco) but not than Wasilla. Pitman is cheapest at 3.48 a gallon if have rewards and pay cash 3.59 without rewards and cash. Lots of people work in Wasilla or Anchorage (75 miles one way did that for 3 year. 5 days a week now just go to Wasilla sometimes daily to babysit grandkid. 45 min away) I guess to get the numbers people make things more dramatic. If don't work or low income have pantry in town to supplement. I am retired on fixed income so.. The Friday Farmers market is truthful.

Thank you....it's a super small rural town.
No Lowes, no Safeway or Fred Meyer (yet)... however we don't care. We actually prefer this old fashioned style of living and community. We have lived in larger cities in Oregon and we prefer this hands down. The kids also enjoy meeting their community and participating in events. Thank you for watching! The snowman finally broke in half I think! We have been tracking his melting on the community posts.

I can already tell you would probably like it here
Lots of space to do your own thing
Choose wisely where you want to live
Different places here offer different experiences and conveniences
Houston/ Willow are smaller towns but still connected to road systems.
