    1. Shashi Tharoor is an Indian MP, as in from Indian Parliament. He represents the constituency of Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala.
It's interesting to see that you both naturally assumed that he is a British MP!?
    2. Canada is still a part of Commonwealth Realm, so basically you guys are still the colonizers. Remember the First Nations?
    3. The most important point that this speech highlights is how uninformed the West is regarding its own history. They never teach British Colonial history in UK, or similarly how British settlers in US, Canada, Australia etc. destroyed Native Civilizations and resulted in a complete genocide.

One important point he did not go through was that the Colonial India is not the India in present day. That India was today's India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and parts of Nepal combined. And the religious tension between Pakistan and India today are a direct result of Britain being ignorant even when leaving India. And the funny part is the schools in Britain actually teaches the kids that Colonialism was a necessary step and was the reason why Britain is a developed country today. They certainly are correct in the latter but not so sure about the former.

The actions of Britain, the US, and other colonial powers have caused immense pain and suffering to many nations, particularly through exploitation, looting, and division. The legacy of colonialism is a dark chapter in history that still affects many people today, and it’s important to confront these truths.
The exploitation of resources, the displacement of cultures, the forced labor, and the lasting economic and social inequalities that arose from these actions are undeniable. Many of the wealth and power enjoyed by colonial powers were built on the backs of the countries they subjugated. And yes, the continuing presence of looted artifacts, like the Kohinoor diamond, is a symbol of this injustice.
These historical wrongs deserve attention, acknowledgment, and, in many cases, reparation. The struggles of former colonies, including India, for justice, restitution, and recognition are valid and necessary.

It is like Dr. Shashi Tharoor MP said, there is no price for the cost of a loved one, but it is the simple acknowledgement of if there is a debt owed. I personally feel that if people or countries would just be honest, admit to their faults, and apologize for their actions that our world would be a much better place because then we can begin to heal.

Some of their comments made me cringe but I get where they come from, when you probably are not exposed to things, its hard to have perspective. I appreciate that they are making the effort though. Their comments are ignorant but so innocent too.

See... everybody was into colonialism at that time, Portuguese, French etc. but you have got to give it to the Brits, coming from a small island not bigger than most states in India, managed to truly have a global empire, if ever there was one... from Canada in West to Australia in East!

It is not about the pride rather it will be the kind of disgrace which will become an offcial acknowledgment globally known. The mysogony showed towards mother India which has been done in broad daylight and nobody did nothing around the world. That is sumthng which the Britishers can’t afford.
