    Good clear instructions in your video, a good tip is to take a marking pen and number the heads of the bolts in the order that you will torque them, so you can be sure not to miss any or you can mark them individually once they are torqued. Do not over torque bolts because you actually begin to weaken the threads, torquing is just a measurement of how much pressure you are putting on the bolts, hence to avoid from under or over tightening them.

    Start at 20lbs of torque on all bolts, step up to 40, the 50, 60, 70, 76. Takes time. But completely necessary, you can still put it on crooked, also put excess stress on the bolts, and the mount point, which will weaken over time. Also. Don't over tighten. Factory specifications are specific for a reason. This was quick and dirty. There's a time and place for that, but its not very... Wise. If you can, take your time, take pride in your work, and take effort to be extremely thorough. You are doing master mechanic level shit. Time to act like it.

    I don't know anything about transmissions, but I do know a lot about fasteners. Do not over-torque your fasteners! They are designed to withstand a certain amount of clamping load and over-torquing your themwill cause them to fail when they are pushed to what would otherwise be their normal operating limits!

    Its also recommended to torque in stages for the flywheel bolts instead of going straight to 76

    I resurfaced my old flywheel because it wasn't so damaged beyond repair. The bushing was given to me by the shop. You could either get one installed or you can ask for one to install yourself. If I needed a new one, you can always get a new one from any parts store. But make sure it is OEM or close to OEM brand.

    When you are using a torque wrench you should not be holding onto the silver portion, despite what you may see in videos. Check the owners manual such as Craftsman 13919: "Holding the wrench BY THE GRIP ONLY*, apply SLOW
    AND STEADY pull until a momentary release impulse or ‘click’ is felt. Release tightening pressure immediately
    when the release is felt.

    Hey mate just an enquiry regarding the dowel pins on a flywheel,are they for strenght as well as location for the pressure plate,reasons being a friend of mine has a lightened fly wheel which has been machined and there is no area left to fit the dowels, l myself have been a mechanic for 34 years and have never come across this.Any advice would be appreciated.

      The dowel pins are mostly used for ensuring proper placement of the pressure plate onto the flywheel and to hold the pressure plate in place when spinning

However, a bit of a reality check - clutch jobs at diy level often do Not have the tranny out - engine and tran are unbolted and separated a bit, and the gap is all a parking lot mechanic can get ... could you make a video of that please? I have had a clutch changed like that in an accord, but wasnt watching.

    Hey Man. Great Videos I actually think you do a better job than many professionals out there. In explaining and showing. But I got a question. I own a 97 Base Prelude with a H22a4 Engine, and my transmission works great, I believe. Its a 5 Speed Manual. When I put it into gear no matter which, it kinda pops in there, and that does not sound right to me. But the part that worries me, is when I'm getting in the freeway. Going about 50 MPH, at 3 RPM. And ready to switch to 5th, it goes into the gear, but it sounds as if it grinds a little. Not on my transmission but on my Shift Lever. Please reply if you heard of this before or anything. Thanks.

    • @winstonbuzon
      @winstonbuzon  9 лет назад

      No way of knowing for sure without removing the tranny from the motor. Sorry...
      If it pops out, check for the clutch fork. See if it freely moves too much. As far as the grinding sounds, it sounds like a pressure plate problem... But like I said, there's no way of knowing for sure until you remove the tranny from the motor to inspect. If there's enough room, you won't need to remove the tranny completely to see...

    where can i buy that grease you put on the spline? and also do i need to do the flywheels at the same time as clutch? i only bought the clutch and didn’t realize that the flywheel may need to be replaced too

    • @winstonbuzon
      @winstonbuzon  9 месяцев назад

      The grease usually comes with the clutch kit. I would attach the flywheel first before the clutch but the clutch & flywheel should be done together because of you just change the clutch without ensuring the flywheel is still in good condition, you'd have to do this twice, so why not do it together? The flywheel may or may not need to be replaced depending on the condition of the flywheel. If it has minor hot spots, you can just resurface the flywheel. But if you're going lightened performance flywheel, you might as well do it now while the housing is off the engine

    Hello! Can you please help me regarding the following situation: Today i went to an enginner for my car in order to put out the oil pan, clean it and put some paste on it to avoid oil leaking. But he made a mistake because he put a screw in the wrong place and it came in contact with the flywheel. We figured it out after we start the engine and heared a squeaky sound. He moved the car a little bit in order to elevate it and to find what happened. (The good thing is that i didnt drive my car, just a little as i described above). My question is: Should i be worried if any damaged occured to the flywheel while it came in contact with the screw? Thank you in advance

      Nikos Chatzinikolaou You should be worried when your driving experiences has changed, like more noises, vibrations, and other weird or unusual behavior from your engine or transmission. If you're really concerned, you should get a second opinion from a professional like a transmission shop. As I have stated before, I am not a mechanic or professional. I'm only sharing my experiences with folks...

      @winstonbuzon  7 лет назад

      Laurence Rilling If you're looking to do an in-bay clutch job, you would just have to still get anything that gets in the way of the Long block and the Tranny housing bell. Why? Because once you are able to remove the bolts, you will need to separate them as much as possible to remove the clutch and flywheel bolts. Trust me, it's going to be extremely tight spaced

    • @winstonbuzon

    Do you know what can cause damage to the flywheel? because my car makes a loud rattling sound and I took the starter off and noticed that the wheel had been damaged, I replaced the starter and it didn't help, my friend took the trans off and the wheel was dent and it was making contact on the base but he bent the base straight and replaced the wheel and it still didn't go away.

      It depends on what materials were used to make your flywheel. Usually made of steel or cast iron, if it was made of other materials, that is usually a factor on why they would be damaged... Find out who made and what materials were used to make your flywheel. Also, turning the key on the ignition while the engine is on could contribute to that problem.

    Torque in steps not in one go. Hand tight, then next step and then final step. It is similar to a head gasket in that way and don't over torque, Honda bolts aren't torque to yield and can be reused providing you haven't stretched them by over torquing.
    Good video though.

    Hi, thanks for the video, will this work with the 2002 5 speed accord coupe? I just picked it up for my son and bought from a friend that told me he replaced the clutch 3 months before then clutch went again.. Problem: car does not go into gear at all. when clutch is fully out you can still change the gears with no problem as if holding the clutch. I asked around since that was kinda stange and someone told me that they think clutch or flywheel is stuck in the pressed position and thats why clutch is also not working.. any advise? if I change the clutch and pressure plate will that correct my problem? I checked rods and eveything seems to be working fine on transmission side?

    • @winstonbuzon
      @winstonbuzon  9 лет назад

      Only way to find out for sure is to take it apart and inspect. If they replaced the clutch, it shouldn't be a problem UNLESS they ride the clutch a lot. If it will not go into gear at all, there's a possibility your gears may need to be inspected and/or replaced. But like I said, you won't know for sure until it is disassembled and inspected.
