- When you check into a hotel, you expect the room to have been thoroughly cleaned, especially the bathroom. To see if hotels meet customers' expectations, Inside Edition painted a harmless, washable fluorescent gel onto the toilet seat, sink counter and shower floor, and then checked back the following day to see if it was still there. Of all the hotels Inside Edition checked, the dirtiest bathroom award goes to a Homewood Suites by Hilton in midtown Manhattan. #InsideEdition

MSP it was probably the chemical they used to clean it off. i worked for hotels for a long time and some chemicals you use can damage toilet seats. thats why they use a special cleaner for counter tops and toilets. its softer on the surface so it doesnt eat away at the coating of the toilet.

no, the chemical basically burned the coating off the seat. it washed off while they wiped the seat. they used a regular cleaning spray i am guessing. not what the hotel used maybe? just saying from expierence. if you buy a cleaner from walmart and use it on a toilet seat it can eat thru the coating. hotels use a special cleaner.
I worked in hotel housekeeping for years. Our only job was to make the room “look” clean, but often times we had to implement shady/insanitary tactics to do so. Why? Because we would have lists of 20-30 rooms to clean per day we were expected to have them cleaned at record speed so there was no time to give a genuine effort. Not only that but we were payed $7.25/hour and given the false hope of tips supplementing our income. Know how often we were tipped? Rarely.

With the first hotel the manager was actually really nice, she didn’t argue and walk away like some of the others. I like how she handled it
I am a housekeeper and this is so uncalled for, we take pride in our work, and when we have people staying over we still clean there sinks and tubs and toilets ..no matter what! These employees were just flat out lazy and did not want to do their jobs. What a shame :(
The thing here is that they do not use the bathroom at any time... so when the housekeeper comes in the room doesn't seem to be used ... everything's exactly how it was on the day before when she cleaned so she knows what she has done that's why she won't clean it again... also, what many people do not know is that in many hotels, maids only have 15 min to clean a whole room and you can have up to 26 rooms to do in a shift of 7 hours ... of course that is not guest's fault... but honestly in this case, it really seems that they did not touch anything they just put the signs ... and no one will clean something is clean... its very easy to understand when things have been used or not ...
