Many, many, many years ago, my mother would sing this song when she sang in nightclubs along the Florida coast line. I was just a teenager back then, am now 70 years old, and I now wonder what her dreams must have been when she started singing in nightclubs. I am sure she thought she might one day make it "big"..., but she never did. she was an excellent singer, sand in some of the swankiest places when we lived in Cocoa Beach during the "space" years. But, she got hooked up with an alcoholic piano player, who could play the piano wonderfully when he wasn't drunk, but he was drunk 99.99% of the time. I'm sorry she never "made it big".... RIP Mother. Hope to see you again because I miss you...

Singers NEVER die. I'm a non-professional singer too.
My Dad made a working living at singing in the early days (1950's-early 90's) , and I chose a different profession to make a living.
We are ALL important, as was your Mom.

A Master Class in NY Sarcasm.
    "Let's get really "unplugged".
"Can we turn off all the microphones? Thanks..."
Then, Maestro Bennett proceeds to draw upon US musical history, from the 1940's through his present, to belt out one of the most poignant of renditions of "Fly Me to the Moon".

*edit - I spoke in haste. I should have said - 'He TAKES IT TO THE MOON ON THIS ONE! : ) which was the real sense of 'WOW" I was trying to capture.
Original comment - "He destroys Sinatra's version. This became the quintessential rendition." I spoke in haste, I didn't mean destroy, it's about the beauty of building and they were all apart of that in their own time, own ways, and we're lucky to be able to appreciate the best where the best is. (I will add this - his timbre got more pleasing imo when he aged)

Oh I just love this man. Singing Fly Me to the Moon just takes me to another level. A talented man in many fields. But his voice, his kindness, his expression of song...his songwriting, his smile, his cheeks... His class. His class, his class. Thank you...for enriching our lives in song. ❤

This is my all-time favorite song performance, of any singer, of any genre. This will always be my #1!
Tony’s voice was a gift from God and he never took that for granted. He was classy but not stuffy, always remembering his roots. He was a gentleman but no pushover. He was kind and generous, but knew where to draw the line and how to protect his privacy. He never acted the fool. Every celebrity should take a lesson from Tony Bennett.

Nobody can sing this song in so many different, lovely ways as Tony Bennett. You don't sing along with Tony, you just listen, because he's that good.

The parts i love the most are the "let me play among the stars" and the "let me sing forever more".
