Tbh would like him to add some basic vehicles and a map for exactly that would be fun to drive around to make new guns to use and to have a tp point to go between the 2 spots for those who dont care to drive that much in a shooting sim
Transit zones should be subway train, sometimes if you're running from the police you'll have to bunker down and fight or hide until the train shows up
I love the idea of having to hide and run Alien:isolation style. After you finish a mission, the game should spawn some super sausigs that you need to evade while reaching extraction.
Yeah, I like the idea of a time-gated exfiltration. Would make the anytime exits more special. Like maybe you steal some car keys and can leave in the enemy's cool car at anytime, or maybe you open a door to the sewers and it takes you 3 hours to sneak home that way but you don't have to wait for the sewers to show up.
"maybe they made trees out of plywood because all the old trees are dead" is even sillier than you probably intended in the moment; the cyclical logic of using the now limited supply of wood to make decorative version of the things that would have been able to supply the wood is so goofy silly and i love it.
At the same time, you could justify it as making everything in the world as artificial and processed as the sosigs that live in it. Would fit well with existing things like the meat grinder death-maze, the grillhouse scene being a showroom town, or rotweiners being a large-scale artificially created disaster.
Having the sosigs have lines about you trespassing if you're perceived as not a threat might be more immersive than them just shooting on sight immediately
Yeah, with how retaliation will absolutely tank your reputation it makes sense to have a system where they warn/escort/detain you before forcing your hand. I do like the idea of some factions staying shoot on sight though... makes keeping a good reputation when dealing with them harder.

So if you screw up bad you have to go find a manhole cover to sneak out of the scene, or pay a sausage smuggler to help you get out of there.
Fun idea, IDK if you have a way for hotdogs to conceal a gun, but have random civilian hotdogs have a self concealed weapon that they pull when you start being too crazy in public could be fun.

I got the game yesterday 3 years ago on my birthday. It's my favorite vr game of all time and I've sunk 800+ hours into it lol. Thanks for all of your hard work Anton!
I have waited nearly a decade now, watching these devlogs hoping to get the chance to play H3VR. Now I’ll be able to play it within a week. Can’t wait to see what else you have in store for us!
4:32 Case in point; sr/gm_fork absolutely *chugs* my rather beefy GPU that handles other scenes really well, not helped by the day/night cycle in that mod. Also, the blocky trees and geometry is giving me serious early ROBLOX vibes with Armored Patrol coming to mind.
I've been enjoying the the streams and it was a lot of fun watching you block out the warehouse district! Great to get to ask little dev questions I've always wondered. H3 continues to keep me happy and enjoying VR in a way other VR content fails. Thank you for the continued things to look forward to 😊 we all greatly appreciate it. It's awesome to see you excited about working on this new mode.
You know, it’s really awe-inspiring to see your favorite dev get excited about implementing something they tried and failed to years ago due to a lack of experience. I haven’t seen the light of excitement in your eyes for quite some time, Anton, and I’m really happy for you.
Hell yeah! This looks amazing, I love the trees you made, they honestly dont look out of place cause of the years of exposure we have had to minecraft and im more than happy with getting better performance! Thank you Anton!
One idea for the Cameras (I haven't watched the dev streams, so I don't know what you're thinking for now) - Made of metal. Immune to weapons fire, but make a nice sound when you shoot them. - Mounted to a pivot. This could be used to make them sweep over time, but it might be more interesting if they can only be moved by being pushed by something (such as weapons fire). - The drone would follow the same idea. Can't be damaged, but can be temporarily knocked out of the air. Maybe a player could catch and trap a drone, but this would cause a response to recover or replace it.
I love the hired guns idea that will hunt you as bosses, would be a great way to loot or unlock unique guns / sosigguns! Also how about mixing the urban realistic setting with some travels to institution-inspired, sentinels heavy areas? or snowy dakotaesque military base? It could be a good way to tie all your work together.
"Something about a world of a of hot dog people having fake trees made of plywood because all the real trees are dead or something just feels kind of right for this game" Couldn't have said it better myself.
This looks awesome Anton! One idea I had, instead of the camera drone just flying to you seemingly omnipotently, maybe you could have the lore be that a civilian sosig who lives/works/is in a near by building, could “call the cops” on you. Also, could we get some garbage trucks or forklifts in the warehouse area? Would be really funny to have a forklift sosig
I remember back in hitman blood money after every end of the mission there would be a newspaper clipping detailing how many shots were fired and how many people got injured, and the news article would give you a flavor text way rating the player as either a silent assassin or psychopath murdering hundreds of non target kills
Glad to hear the streaming has been fulfilling! It's been great to see how the Sausage is made, proverbially and literally! Very excited for this gamemode and to see how you keep evolving and meshing the systems together.
its really great to hear how fulfilling it has been to work on this new-old gamemode. honestly it bleeds through your speech in all of the recent devlogs. your enthusiasm is very contagious and I cant wait to see how this continues to take form!

You're one of the best game developer's currently. You consistently make updates, and keep the community updated 👍👍 Keep it up, I look forward to playing this game for many years to come!
definently love the concept of a slower, open world type of gamemode. TNH and the modded supply raid is fun, but I always wanted something like this. props!
i have a idea that might be good, it would be funny if you made it so if you grab a civ sosig they scream which would alert the other sosigs around you, but if you grab there head they wont be able to scream, like if you were covering there mouth so they couldn't scream so it adds a stealth way to snap a sosigs neck. i love what your doing so far, I'm excited to see where this project goes
I think if you'd had a suppressed pistol when hanz 57 showed, and you both were just shooting back and forth at each other, with the meatizens continuing as normal, it would be just like that scene from john wick lmao
Think it'd be cool to have the rep influence restricted areas, though not sure how easy/tough that is to code. Say, a negative rep means they shoot on site, rep 0-99 they'll tell you to leave and try to push you out, if you resist they open fire. Rep 100-199 they allow you in unarmed (or concealed weapons). Rep 200-299 they let you in as long as weapon is holstered/not fired. 300+ rep and they let you kill a target, but it costs 50 rep (so you can't abuse it). Only for gangs ofc. Either way, love what you're doing and how it's turning out!
I'd love to see your authority bots from the take and hold facility do a Job when assigned to finding you. Also metroicide did a great job with the camera drone idea I'd reccomend checking it out to see what kinda patterns and gameplay loops occur there. I know you're pretty well covering this stuff so it's not that I expect this to be super helpful.
Anton I know this is probably a big ask, but I would absolutely love love _LOVE_ a nice breakdown gun added along with this mode. Especially if it comes with a nice case and everything, and it could work double as a threat suppressing container (i.e. when the gun is broken down and properly put away it's not seen as a threat). Or at the very least having some kind of way to transport larger firearms without arousing suspicion. You could build these containers just like the backpack items, with slots for guns, magazines, attachments, etc. The containers could be things like a Guitar case, briefcase, toolbox, suitcase, pistol case, rifle case, so on and so on. Even if not, I'm still super excited to give Contract Grillers a try.
Even if we don't get a disassembled rifle to the degree that Hitman has, even just a more traditional "takedown" gun would be great for strategic ambush use. Pop the front and rear halves apart, maybe stow it in a backpack or a suitcase, then set up at a vantage point and slap 'em together, and go wild! It'd be a lot simpler on the physics and such than breaking something down into 4 parts or more, the old Modul mods were hell on performance precisely because of how many discrete parts they were using.
@@Mightylcanis takedown, that's what I meant. But yeah you got the idea all the same. Of course even if Anton doesn't feel like taking on all that extra work (which is totally understandable) I suppose modders can always fill in the gaps.
@@Beefyrulz If it could be optimized for performance, I'd LOVE something to the degree Hitman has, where it's like 6 parts (not including the mag and scope) or something like that. But with VR and physics being what they are, I doubt it'd be efficient for the gameplay benefit you'd reap. And though "there's a mod for that" isn't really an answer/rebuttal for a request for a vanilla game mechanic or feature, a mod to fulfill a role that isn't (currently) covered by the game is certainly doable for most users. If I had a nickel for every time something "impossible" was made into a mod, and then integrated into H3VR..
Well… consider the people with shaky VR legs here. I personally do not get *any* VR motion sickness (be it from playing VTOL VR or Boneworks, or H3). I play on Quest 3 and use joystick movement, and I can twirl the joystick while sprinting and move in a tight circle in place without being nauseated by it. But, I think it’s unhelpful to assume most people can tolerate it, especially considering the game has always given you teleport options if you can’t tolerate smooth locomotion. Now, I’m not saying it wouldn’t be cool, just that it would be lame to gatekeep anything with it, as some people wouldn’t be able to play it.
@@jakint0shThey could always shrimply have an option to vignette your vision on a hoverboard. I think there's a similar setting for rocket jumping in h3
To be fair, we already had the currency in RotR, and the "factions" thing in SR is really just an enemy pool to choose from in most cases. The sosig team thing has been in for a while, you can mess with sosig IFF in Proving Grounds, though I'm not quite sure just for how long that's been a feature.
I'm super excited for Contract Griller, I like Take & Hold but I love the more strategic, Hitman-type gameplay here! I've been living the Agent 47 dream by spawning sosigs in Grillhouse and sneaking around taking them out, but this is on a whole nother level!
I really hope that we get the same sort of low-poly trees that we have in the grillhouse scene, or even just keeping to these silly square ones and adding a bevel to them. This looks like it's gonna be a vibe for sure
it'd be cool if there were a rare event where if your rep goes down enough then your safehouse gets raided, and you would have to defend against waves of enemies attacking your safe house.
I am so hype for whenever this becomes playable, this is the H3 gamemode I didn't even know I needed. I find take and hold a little too frantic but I think a more chilled out and sneaky hitman-esque experience would fit my playstyle perfectly.
Ok, I've a weird question : Since the friendly 45 range is inspired by Hickok45's one... would you implement any kind of easter egg related to Paul Harrel as a tribute ?
I like the square trees! Would like to see the gun store function like the sauce system in the dynamic target shooting game mode, but with the money cartridges
i think it would be a good idea if a griller were to find you when you're near a camera you could pull out a gun but very close to your hip so its "hidden" under a jacket or concealed in a way kinda like that one scene in john wick when hes having that suppressor fight with another hitman in public
Man you're nailing this, the mode already would be a fun few hours and honestly more fun for longer than most VR games. Which really is quite sad, VR games are so far behind flatscreen games in terms of general game quality, but games like H3VR are what keep me interested. I just wish more games like Into The Radius existed, there are several like it but they're either in super early access or generally terrible compared to ITR.

The bit where you teleport about made me realize how badly this game needs a hoverboard
I really like the idea for the game mode, keep up the good work
Something tells me that we're going deeper in the lore about these trees and such.
Anton made a whole area inspired by the new Minecraft movie trailer, wow!
This is really neat. It feels like a logical progression from the "Supply Raid" mod, honestly. More so with the sosig factions and currency.
To be fair, we already had the currency in RotR, and the "factions" thing in SR is really just an enemy pool to choose from in most cases. The sosig team thing has been in for a while, you can mess with sosig IFF in Proving Grounds, though I'm not quite sure just for how long that's been a feature.
I think Anton is telling us to to either get lost in the woods or to touch grass and I’m here for it
I'm super excited for Contract Griller, I like Take & Hold but I love the more strategic, Hitman-type gameplay here! I've been living the Agent 47 dream by spawning sosigs in Grillhouse and sneaking around taking them out, but this is on a whole nother level!
Dude this stuff is so cool!!! Keep up the work anton youre killing it!!!
love the direction this game is taking, please dont burn yourself out Anton!
Transit zones could be a train station, or a bus/tram stop, or maybe something like a getaway car or taxi
idea: “RSOsig” who becomes hostile if you fire more than once a second
I really hope that we get the same sort of low-poly trees that we have in the grillhouse scene, or even just keeping to these silly square ones and adding a bevel to them. This looks like it's gonna be a vibe for sure
I love seeing this 'in progress' type of stuff
it'd be cool if there were a rare event where if your rep goes down enough then your safehouse gets raided, and you would have to defend against waves of enemies attacking your safe house.
oh man, Hotdog, Horseshoes, and Cruelty Squads, hell yeah.
Hey Anton. Just wanted to say that I've been having a rough week, and this cheered me up a bit. Thank you.
I am so hype for whenever this becomes playable, this is the H3 gamemode I didn't even know I needed. I find take and hold a little too frantic but I think a more chilled out and sneaky hitman-esque experience would fit my playstyle perfectly.
Ok, I've a weird question :
Since the friendly 45 range is inspired by Hickok45's one... would you implement any kind of easter egg related to Paul Harrel as a tribute ?
I’ve never been more excited for a game mode before in my whole life
Can't wait to play in these modes and areas. Good, good stuff.
I like where this is going. This is what the game has been really needing, some different game modes.
"can't accept that" *presses accept*. how does he keep getting away with this
Love to see this coming along well!
You should make the "evergreen" trees, or some of them, literally just wooden cones
Even better, make them giant upside-down pinecones
I think an option to have other "factions" attack your target and risk you failing the mission could be a fun gameplay feature
The idea of needing registered finger guns when you can buy a gun at a pawnshop with no paperwork is super funny, absolutely love it
To think that this started as some random plane with two guns made on a lark.
I like the square trees! Would like to see the gun store function like the sauce system in the dynamic target shooting game mode, but with the money cartridges
i think it would be a good idea if a griller were to find you when you're near a camera you could pull out a gun but very close to your hip so its "hidden" under a jacket or concealed in a way kinda like that one scene in john wick when hes having that suppressor fight with another hitman in public
you should have buildings you can climb on top of to snipe people as well as gun cases to hide them in so you don't get instantly spotted
