It’s not just casualties tho it’s so much. Land taken, ships sunk, lend leases, aircraft shot down and so much more. If you don’t get a lot of war score it’s your fault. You didn’t do a good job macro. You probably only focused on army and accepted lend lease.
I remember that brief time you could get all the war score as Venezuela or Romania because you just lend lease all your oil to the other axis powers and do nothing else.

I mean, it not only looks good visually, but also conveys the shitty sides of the game mechanics very well (especially the after-war borders shown here are way too realistic to be just a joke). It would only be better if the video showed the Italian naval invasion into Norway or the Allied landing in Albania right in the middle of the ongoing mess without further strategic development.

As someone who has played HOI4 long enough to get the references, and studied the whole XX century in its littlest details, I didn’t know if to cry or to laugh during the entire duration of the video.
The Netherlands joining and Germany just absoluetly collapsing is also very accurate

On my first playthrough, I speedruned getting into the Axis becoming the second Axis member in like 1937 (then Italy, Hungary, my puppet Polish Lithuania, legionnare Bulgaria and Fascist Romania), making a puppet Lithuania but forgetting to annex it completely, somehow Japan creating its own faction, gettin to a World War with the Allies in about 1938 over czechoslovakia, getting the USA involved, fighting with the damn Baltic Alliance or something (Finland Sweden Denmark and Lithuania), fighting the Comintern on the soviet front in 1940 (they attacked me) and losing the African Front alongside Italy completely.
Truly a HOI4 experience.
In my first game as the Reich, I fought with Luxembourg for several years, after which I attacked Poland, justifying the purpose of the war, started a war with the Allies and eventually turned into a French occupation zone.

- Italy takes Luxembourg for some reason
- Finland takes Leningrad
- Germany declares war on USSR, instant regret
- US joins the war with jet fighters and Abrams tanks, quickly conquers German Rhineland
- US and Russia scramble to get the last German cities
- annoyingly long campaign to take Italy because no one has transports in place to go to Sicily or Sardinia
