About me: I decided to jump on an opportunity to buy a school bus for $1000. After 2.5 years of building and a couple summers doing bus life, I sold the bus and began building a tiny house boat from scratch. My hope is that with a couple years of practice building under my belt, I can do a bit better of a job this time and build something that actually floats 🤞

Kudos on the epoxy coating. One word of caution - while the epoxy protects the wood from moisture, it does not protect against UV. If you want to achieve a great protective coating, like the old, classic boats with twelve coats of spar varnish, you can add another coat or two of epoxy on your wood surfaces and then apply three coats of spar varnish, allowing each coat to be dried and sanded between coats. It will look deep and last a good long time.

When you re-stained after sanding, the wood probably had a different texture than when you started. That can cause it to absorb more stain than normal.

Some serious headway. Congratulations. Not sure what Roy calls for on the plans, but if you layer the deck with fiberglass make sure you run the fiberglass up the walls at least a few inches. Also on the roof. Fiberglass all the way to the end and down on the edges. My builder didn't bring the fiberglass down on the edges on the roof and I have cracks at the joints. Something I had to temporarily fill. later, when I refinish the decks with white nonskid I'll probably apply some more fiberglass over the edges of the roof. The stuff is very easy to work with, sticky but not complicated. Be thinking about the electronics you plan to have in there. Get some good quality LED overhead lights, and some remote controlled led lights that you can change to red at night. Freaking bugs can be unreal at night. Alexis, my daughter, was covered up by them boating up a creek to stay the night.
