im cautiously optimistic Btw what really bugs me is the Xenomorph has such potential with its ability to take on traits of its host and that aspect has BARELY been explored in cinema, weve got a dog-alien. Thats it.
Well lets look at this with a more critical, objective eye from what we've already seen in the series. Female leads of course, the cast is usually people from all walks of life, usually they're everyday people like us just working as engineers, pilots, analysists, etc. It is owned by Disney so obviously we have every right to have a degree of cynicism with their current track record and over the years. I think this will be well received by us fans even if it is a B movie as long as there's no pandering, tearing down of male characters to uplift a female protagonist, Mary Sue if you will. Honestly the gay agenda can chill too cuz from what I've seen all over even most of them are getting irritated like Disney pandering comes off as patronizing to those intelligent enough to see it being done to them. No surprise I've called that years. They do the same with black characters in gaming as well and there's also outcry to quit treating them like they have a handicap or they need rich white people to give them a hand out. I think will do fine if they actually realize they're catering to an audience, if it exists at all, is too small to justify spending millions on an IP and risk losing it. No real, intelligent, self respecting person is asking for any of what they're peddling. The numbers don't lie even if they delete review scores lol. I'm rooting for this movie though!
Yup, if there is a gay or trans sub-plot then this movie will bomb. The ethnicity of the actors/characters won't make a difference as long as they are strong.
in the course of 3 weeks, I´ve watched all the 6 movies (Alien I, II, III, IV + prometheus and covenant). I´m confident to say they are all great movies, specially if you compare them to nowadays science fiction releases. Even Alien IV, which is always been know as the worst movie, is actually pretty good. It´s bizarre, Ripley is high on alien DNA, characters are great and special fx are very very good. The lowest point in the franchise, for me, is actually Fincher´s Alien III and the horrible cgi effects and bad writing (sometimes). Anyway, I really wanna watch Romulus and really expect that David character comes back in another movie.
Fun fact... in Alien 3, they didn't use CGI, but used a puppet and placed it onto green screen, hence why it looks CGI. And as for David, I heard he won't be back, but a sibling of the Ash android will make an appearance. This one will connect to Covenant as well as the original first two, so let's hope we at least get a cameo of David.
It’s going to suck: the franchise has no more horror left. The alien isn’t scary anymore, facehuggers give birth in minutes, negating the body horror. The growth/nest organism is perhaps more dangerous, an unstoppable mold that takes over an entire ship… that starts growing eggs. What would be interesting is a story where the alien becomes the hero, a rouge xeno helps save the last surviving crew. The real villain of course is the Company (which knew of an “organism” to collect before they sent the Nostromo); if there’s anything interesting in Romulus it will be how the company fumbles once again.
Am I the only person waiting for the 3re prequal film prior to Alien? Surely we have a whole amazing movie there to be covered on Acheron/ LV-426 prior to when Ripley arrived?
Using practical effects gives me hope. Honestly, no one does visuals better than Disney. Say what you want about episodes 7, 8 and 9. They were visually outstanding.
Looks great apart from this.....all the young looking cast ! Reminds of watching a made for the teen audience horror like Scream. Alien should be a thought provoking film, with a real level of intelligence running throughout and one that makes you want to discuss and revisit it over and over. Romulus looks from the trailer like its aimed at teens and slasher film fans.....if it gets a PG13 its absolutely game over
I was under the impression Ripley burned the original Alien to a crisp when she blew it out the airlock. Then proceeded to turn on the boosters/ engine when she saw where it ended up...
@@aurozappa305 We also don't know exactly when the film takes place, but I doubt it's him anyway. Too hard to find something that small floating around in outer space. Regarding the plot, the group is not a young space colonist stumble on the space station, but they are cadets of space flying or traveling academy looking for a ship or supplies to take them back to Earth
Will it be good? Theres a high possibility it might be passing or spectacular the only way is to go in with a level head Will it be one hell of a ride however? Definitely

It lacks the noise in the photography, everything is too clean and lights are too well designed, probably wont be good, just average and nothing new about alien
I think this will be pretty good, but I really hope they didn't do what you suggested and claim the alien in the first movie somehow survived and drifted to some random space station. I would really hope they could be a little more creative than that.
Big Chap doesn't drift to the space station but is found adrift in space by the company, probably dead but we don't know yet, and is brought back to the space station.
Get Ridley Scott away from this franchise already... we could have gotten Blomkamp's A5 instead we got Godawful Covenant 🤮 Alien was not HIS damn movie it was Dan O'Bannon's

For all the shit the movie gets, alien 4 nail the atmosphere of a claustrophoby enviroment waaay better than prometheus covenant or this movie, alien 4 was at least original in trying to continue the storyline and what dna experimentation can do

If this movie is a bust, I’m going to write an alien screenplay and pitch it to Disney as a true fan who knows what the rest of us fans want: a good movie, period. I hated Prometheus and Covenant. Both were horrid. I’m also tired of the 90lb teenage girls beating a magnificent alien species with their girlbossness (looking at you, Prey). Ugh. 🤮
Woman in main role, check. Black: check. Asian: check. For sure it’s a Disney movie. Probably it will end with two guys or girls kissing each other to promote tolerance, inclusion or whatever they call it. I’ll pass this one, as I already been doing for years now. At least Prometheus had a cast with renowned actors that can actually: act.
Alien: Woman in the main role, check. Black, check. Aliens: Woman in the main role, check. Black, check. Latina, check. Child actor, check. I understand the point that you're trying to make, but Alien has always been diverse, and to use that as your main criticism and leverage for it being a "Disney film" is brain-dead.
Instead of them making another crap fest like this, the simple solution would be to adapt the story about the fall of Hadley's Hope. This DEI nonsense has got to end at some point! Smh.
@@RoachsFilmReel The way casting usually works in Hollywood is that actors around mids 20 to early 30 portray teenager characters (Jennifer Lawrence was 22 when she played Katniss Everdeen which was supposed to be 16) there are more examples of but I think I get my point across.
Consider the environment of watching a theatrical release: For the inflated, ghastly expense of an admission ticket, then having to suffer through an ever-increasing amount of advertising...... you're bound to have high expectations. It won't take much to be disappointed. As in Liberal politics, Liberal Hollywood is out-of-touch with what the majority of Americans think and feel. Yet their Liberal egos keep them in denial of this understanding. Example: Kathleen Kennedy blames the AUDIENCE for her production's flops.

Alien and Aliens are fantastic. Alien3 and Prometheus bracket that legendary pair of movies with distasteful continuities I'd rather ignore. Fortunately there is Dark Horse Comics continuity to offer an alternative to all of the downsides of Hollywood's 'vision'. No albino body builders, David the fallen android angel, mutagenic Black Goo bioweaponry of the prequels nor the space prisons and stagnant world building found in Aliens3 and beyond. The Dark Horse Comics continuity is more hopeful and dynamic a future that that which Hollywood has brought to screen. There is a sense of Humanity reaching out to the stars and finding its place amongst despite the palpable Xenomorph threat and difficult neighbors we find out there.

@@rogerpowers3891 The movies after Alien 3 make Alien 3 look quite good in comparison
Nobody wants more remakes/reboots/sequels/prequels of things from the 70s-90s. Right now we are getting Alien, Dune, Godzilla, Fall Guy, Planet of the Apes, Mad Max (without Mad Max), comic book movies, etc. etc. etc.
I feel like I'm stuck in a perverse time loop. There are no original stories. Everything they are crapping out is just regurgitated stuff from 40 or 50 years ago.
WRITE SOME NEW SHIT, HOLLYWOOD. WE ARE SICK OF YOU RECYCLING GOLD INTO GARBAGE.
That is just the state of Hollywood. They only have confidence in known IPs and not good stories.
It's safer and less risky to recycle the old proven material. Money drives the decisions on what studios will green light.
@tomwitherby4348 money is at the job if you are able bodied
im cautiously optimistic
Btw what really bugs me is the Xenomorph has such potential with its ability to take on traits of its host and that aspect has BARELY been explored in cinema, weve got a dog-alien. Thats it.
Very valid point. If this launches many more films, hopefully that can be explored.
That’s really only a comics and video game thing.
What traits did the Alien pick up from Kane? Being a nerd?
Just wanted to note that 20th Century Studios is no longer connected to Fox and is wholly owned by Disney. Thanks for making Alien content!
You're welcome. Yeah I think it is called 20th Centry Studio now but is completely run by Disney?
Will always be 20th Century Fox to me because of the great Doors song.
Prepare yourself for disappointment. What hasn't been seen before that *alien 1979* already covered that this flick is revisiting again?
Have the "big chap" be able to speak and fly.
@@tomwitherby4348 LOL Why not?
@@tomwitherby4348 And twerk.

in the course of 3 weeks, I´ve watched all the 6 movies (Alien I, II, III, IV + prometheus and covenant).
@@abrimfulofasha nice info! tks
@gustavokoshikumo no worries, bud ;)
Disney should've let Ridley Scott finish what he started with Prometheus and subsequently, Alien Covenant.
Yeah, they could have done and still done this. His third movie was probably ready to go after Covenant.
Very valid points.
Hey, The Terminator changed from evil to good and that worked fine. Why not the Alien too?
Am I the only person waiting for the 3re prequal film prior to Alien? Surely we have a whole amazing movie there to be covered on Acheron/ LV-426 prior to when Ripley arrived?
Perhaps
Using practical effects gives me hope.
Honestly, no one does visuals better than Disney. Say what you want about episodes 7, 8 and 9. They were visually outstanding.
I agree that usurping practical effects and real sets makes a huge difference. Fede has said that having practical sets was key to him doing the film
Looks great apart from this.....all the young looking cast ! Reminds of watching a made for the teen audience horror like Scream.
Alien should be a thought provoking film, with a real level of intelligence running throughout and one that makes you want to discuss and revisit it over and over.
Romulus looks from the trailer like its aimed at teens and slasher film fans.....if it gets a PG13 its absolutely game over
Totally agree that if it gets a PG13 rating it will be disappointing. From the trailer alone I reckon it will be R rated.
Needs to be a hard R.
Probably not. They are using the same tired formula with young actors. They probably won't show the original Space Jockey as it was intended.
I was under the impression Ripley burned the original Alien to a crisp when she blew it out the airlock. Then proceeded to turn on the boosters/ engine when she saw where it ended up...
Xenomophs are tough
@@RoachsFilmReel Its that exoskeleton. Same material as Captain America's shield.
That would be crazy if Big Chap returned 45 years later and did it all again.
I would love to see it happen
It won't the life cycle of the Alien was rapid .
@@aurozappa305 We also don't know exactly when the film takes place, but I doubt it's him anyway. Too hard to find something that small floating around in outer space. They can also retcon that idea about the life-cycle. The ones from Aliens survived for weeks and perhaps months and showed no sign of slowing.
@@Leondrius they wrote it in the script.. the alien Was preparing to die right there... if Ripley didn't disturb it ....... it would have died off
@@aurozappa305 Right, but nothing about the movie itself confirmed that. They could too easily write it off.
They fucked up sooooo hard not letting Neil bloomkamp have his way with it, I genuinely think it would outshine all others in the franchise
Could have been cool yeah.
Have hopes if will be 'fine'. I think the upcoming series will be better.
Maybe the series will be better. Scott is involved in both
Regarding the plot, the group is not a young space colonist stumble on the space station, but they are cadets of space flying or traveling academy looking for a ship or supplies to take them back to Earth
Ah thanks for the clarification.
Alien Vs. The Space Cadets
i believe that romulus is going to be a good movie , not like prometheus or take me home country roads (covenant).
I liked both Prometheus and Covenant enough. Not sure which I preferred.
Will it be good? Theres a high possibility it might be passing or spectacular the only way is to go in with a level head
Will it be one hell of a ride however? Definitely
The first Alien only had a life span 48-72 hours ... the Alien was dying at the end of the movie !
Didn't know that. Thanks for sharing
After wasting time and money on Prometheus and Covenant, I'll wait for reviews of Romulus.
Only thing I liked from Disney the past decade was "The Mandalorian"....hopes maybe for this.,I love all the first 4 Alien films on their own.
I’ve heard the Alien has been made non-binary and participates in a particularly gruesome gender reveal party. Just a rumour 🤣
It’s black too 🙊😆
Can you imagine haha
I seen this movie, it was directed by the genius ridley Scott. To crap with everything else. 😂❤👽
Romulus was directed by Ridley Scott?
It will be fine if there's good characters development..10 minutes around a table talking...thats all it needs . .we need to cear and the characters...
Yep
Prometheus pissed me off as a wasted opportunity, and I saw what the covenant "xeno" looked like and I will never watch that movie and this looks like absolute shit too. If it's not Alec gillis and Tom woodruff jr, it's wrong. So all alien things since AVP do not count
I think Prometheus was it's own thing and then FOX made scott put the xeno in it.
Alien covenant is the worst movie in the franchise.
Yeah I do wonder how they will explain it. Maybe it won't be explained. If it is Big Boy I'm sure it will be obvious.
Not sure if Ridley or Scott Free productions hold the rights in some way
@@RoachsFilmReel not to my knowlege. Disney owns Fox (Alien Franchise)
The studio suits want him somehow involved in all the movies in the franchise just because of his name. Movie goers hear Alien and Ridley in the same sentence and they think "Ohhhh, Ridley Scott is making it!"
Space scenes look so fake, no feel, no care for detail overall. Seams like a money grab.
There could be time to fix it in post 😁

Just a tad
For everything that got canceled on Blomkamp this better be good. Im terrified this will fall flat and cliched
There is always the chance. I am curious about what Blomkemp would have done.
@RoachsFilmReel damn curious. I just need to see closure to Hicks and Newts story............aaaand maybe those robot turrets one more time 😆. Not to mention closing the story properly actually is what Beihn and Weaver really want. And they deserve it
If this movie is a bust, I’m going to write an alien screenplay and pitch it to Disney as a true fan who knows what the rest of us fans want: a good movie, period.
I hated Prometheus and Covenant. Both were horrid. I’m also tired of the 90lb teenage girls beating a magnificent alien species with their girlbossness (looking at you, Prey). Ugh. 🤮
Seems to be some decent reviews at the moment. But it may die down when more critics have posted. I'm hopefully seeing it this weekend
LOL. Spot on.
Instead of them making another crap fest like this, the simple solution would be to adapt the story about the fall of Hadley's Hope. This DEI nonsense has got to end at some point! Smh.
Yeah because an entire teenager cast makes a lot of sense within the Alien universe, 🤦♂️no wonder why nobody is going to the movies anymore
Are they teenagers? Or are they young adults?
@@RoachsFilmReel The way casting usually works in Hollywood is that actors around mids 20 to early 30 portray teenager characters (Jennifer Lawrence was 22 when she played Katniss Everdeen which was supposed to be 16) there are more examples of but I think I get my point across.
Is that you, Professor Snape?
Not sure what you mean
No it will fail.
I would love to be pleasantly surprised. I think many would rather see a new director take it on rather than Scott.
Great points
Much appreciated 👏
It's always hard to follow up on good films , doubt this will be any good
I just worry it will be a poor imitation of the first one or so similar that if offers nothing new.
Consider the environment of watching a theatrical release:
For the inflated, ghastly expense of an admission ticket, then having to suffer through an ever-increasing amount of advertising...... you're bound to have high expectations.
Alien 3 was borderline okay. After that, trash 🗑️.
Alien 3 was a satisfactory installment in the franchise. I found Prometheus and Covenant to be adequately enjoyable as well.
Even if its amazing you'll probably find something to moan about
They probably use Gaydar to track Lesbian Gayliens and the lead is probably Wonder Woman.
Blimey 😆
Its another Disney woke DEI box ticking exercise...
Could be.
Yes, they killed their franchise with their prejudism..
Potentially
It already looks like alien/aliens reboot
i suppose it does. i wonder how much it will actually lean into the first and second movie.

I'm sure I will enjoy it.
they could have made alien isolation
That would be more in line with James Cameron style than Scott. I know Fede has said it references both, I feel this is more in line with Scott's vision as he is a producer.
It seems we'll have another Ripley wanna be as the main charcater
Looks like that is a possibility
She is untouchable because of the actress who played her. Miss Weaver was one of a kind playing her. She was born for that role.
Why would the director take advice from ridley and cameron. i wouldn’t. They have lost their touch years ago. F them.
I do feel that they could still offer some decent advice.
Everything after ALIENS was and is utter dogshit and got progressively worse, especially prometheus and covenant.
It's just another version of marvel/disney drek!!
Does seem that they are milking the brand till it can give no more.

I still love Alien3....original setting, great characters, great music...after that - the rest....trash.
Some people see it has quality.
I know a lot didn't like the prequels but it's unfortunate we likely won't see a conclusion to that story and even more so that we likely won't see more of the engineers
Yeah it is a shame.
You will never get any better than Alien or Prometheus.
Probably not
You had to think too much with Prometheus. Alien was easy to follow.
I hope they dont mess up this ALIEN movie
So do I. Most people seem very pessimistic about it I the comments though.
Barbs instead of phalangic nails on the facehugger, big mistake.
Shame I guess
