I bought a old pawn shop 12ga. single shot about 40 yrs ago, $50. I've taken countless squirrels, rabbits, ducks, coyote, quail, even deer, plus every kind of snake and varmints. The most versatile, useful gun I ever owned.
keith moore, at least know what you’re talking about before you make absurd claims. 1) $458 is the MSRP, and MSRP is always quite a bit higher than what you’ll actually pay for something. Most of these guns can be had for about $350. 2) Chiappa isn’t even an American company, they’re Italian and regularly subcontract out stuff to Brazil and Turkey. 3) The fit and finish of the Henry is far better than any competitively priced Weatherby or Benelli. The only reason Weatherby competes is because they manufacture their guns in Turkey, and Benelli’s Nova pump is a pretty crude gun for more money that the Henry. 4) If you want a single shot in that ~$150 price range, you can have it in something like the Steven’s 301, but then you’re getting a mass produced gun made in China. If you want a hand fitted, hand finished single shot made in the United States, that’s more than a fair price. I’m sorry you can’t afford one, but I’m sure there are plenty of of videos here on RUclips on how to save for one.
I have been basically begging them to build an Over/Under like the old Savages. Something like a 30-30 over a 12 gauge would be so cool. I have the Henry single shot 243. What a great little rifle. real tack driver too.
You're one of the few people that I have seen who move their thumb over to the side of the stock so that it doesn't slam into your face under recoil. Good work!
Love the old single shot shotguns. I had several as a kid, seems like they were plentiful then, with several manufacturers. Glad Henry is making one today.
So glad Henry is stepping up to the plate to produce single shots. After h&r , at least to my knowledge, no one made them. They're a great woods running gun.
I have a old single shot Stevens i think. I screwed a side saddle shell holder on the stock and put a small rail up front for a light and its my go to shot gun
I have something quite similar...a “Wyco”, which I think was made by Stevens as well. 16 gauge, same action as this Henry here. But, mine was cut down quite a bit, it’s barely legal and I too have added a shell holder. It sits by my bed, like an old sentinel ready to go as a last resort lol. But, I’ve actually practiced with that old bastard through the years, I can shed some shells rather quickly from the holder with the ejector throwing the spent shells about 10-15 feet backwards...
I'm really impressed with my 12 gauge Henry Single Shot. I admit that I'm a sucker for single shot shotguns in general, but THIS one is on a much higher level. Like a lot of enthusiasts, I started with a single shot and couldn't wait until I could buy a repeater. I own/have owned SxS, O&U, pumps, and semiautomatic shotguns and rifles. I've come full circle, in a sense. For years I sought out mint condition Winchester 37s and a few others, but wished for someone to start making high-quality single shots other than trap guns. Boy am I a happy old man! As a bonus, the walnut stock on mine is gorgeous, and the Rem-Choke feature is super nice. Thanks for your review.
They make a black powder muzzle loader adapter for break actions that is like a brass from a shell where u can change the primer and load from the muzzle. It allows you to use it during muzzle loader season. They also have adapters for smaller calibers like 22lr or 9mm or other sizes of shotgun. A break action with a 22lr rifled insert is super versatile

Ran an entire box of 20 1-oz 3" mag slugs one day in the Topper. Had some surface blood bruising on the ol' shoulder. 5 pounds shotgun with a minimal recoil pad really does hit stupid hard.
@@41magfan Hahahaha Like he said, single shot 12ga really do eat every kind of ammo made, and yes they do teach good marksmanship. Side effect is there is no action on the gun, so the barrel isn't sticking out another 5-6" beyond where it does. 28" barrel even seems short.
I recently purchased a Henry 410 single shot from an on line vendor. The weapon had been in the box for years, and one side of the recoil pad had begun to dry rot. TheBlackB0X. That’s pretty sick. I actually attached a mouse to the top of mine to sniff out the enemies. I also decided to put a hairspray can on the bottom for a flamethrower. Last thing I did was put a rubber band on the end of the barrel connecting a home made sling shot. It’s pretty good

When Henry builds a single shot with a 18 1/2" barrel I will buy 5 of them. Right now the top single shot is the Midland BackPack. What a lovely gun. Even comes with Mobile chokes.
Henry should take this action, and make it a SXS double barrel, both in shotgun and rifle calibers. In fact, the thought of a $600 .45-70 double rifle is pretty exciting. I can only hope.

I'd love to get my hands on one of these. Finally, an American company stepped up to the plate to fill the void left when H&R quit making single shots. Remember back when Walmart sold H&R Pardners...made in Gardner, Mass....for $95? They must've sold millions of those guns.
Since H&R and NEF are no longer around, thank goodness Henry is making single shots. I have NEF rifles in .45-70 and a heavy barrel .223 and they are great rifles. My H&R 20 gauge works really well.

I want one badly but the ejector is what's holding me back. I shoot mostly brass shells and I hate havi g those fly over and away, be nice if you could turn it off and go to extracter. Better for reloaders, Inserts, etc.
This is why i watch hickock 45. "You never quit on a miss"
It’s awesome Henry makes all their guns in America 🇺🇸
