Absolutely amazing. I was fortunate recently to be able to visit Letham and see for myself the venue of the Shand music that took place over the years. Another off the bucket list. Forever Shand, the legend.
Thanks for watching and your lovely comments this kind of show is a Legend in it,s own rights.Todays viewing broadcasts are trash compared to what we were offered in the 60,s 70,s and 80,s
I first became acquainted with the music of Jimmy Shand in 1978 when I was traveling in Scotland with my parents and we spent the night at a bed and breakfast in Auchtermuchty, within sight of Jimmy's house. (My mom and I are descended from the Gilchrist clan in the highlands.) The family we stayed with pushed the furniture back, rolled up the rugs, and we spent the night learning Scottish dances and getting acquainted with this wonderful music. I've been a fan ever since. I will never forget that wonderful night.
Hi thanks for watching and your comments.I used to holiday near Auchtermuchty in my youth on a family farm there afraid to say I never got the chance to meet this Great Musician. He was on many a New Year's Eve party in the 1960's
Absolutely 💯brilliant and full of fantastic shandism, a lovely line up of total nostalgia and will never be replicated ever, all of the line up ultimate magic
Hi this I did during 1st Lockdown I found the VHS tape among my loft rubble on a clear out.I remember making recording in 1986 TV a lot better then.I used to have summer holidays in Fife in my youth in the 60,s
Thanks for watching and your comments I will be watching this on New Year's Eve as this Pandemic has really killed all Celebrations completely in Scotland.
@@ianleiper I'm afraid it's killed celebrations in most parts of the world! I'm watching this for a second time today and I'll watch it again on New Year's Eve too from Johannesburg.
Absolutely brilliant, the classic sound of the box played by top men and the other members of this will never be replicated dunoon pier memories, clyde steamers to this was every day, superb
@@ianleiper The trash you mentioned above certainly is that today's "Celtic Confectionaries",as called by the initiated! And as for Sir Jimmy.....if there had been more of such persons,we 'd have had a better world!!!
Absolutely love this. Love all music such as cinema organ, glam rock, jazz, Country, hymns, classical, 80's 70's, 60's 50's 40's, 30's etc, prog rock, opera, musicals, the list goes on. Makes me think of my lovely parents. Lost Dad in 1980 when I was 14, and Mum 3 1/2 years ago. Put music like this on then start fo feel I want to cry.

Hello everyone. My name is Martin Mohan. I am from Donegal now living in the States. I lived and worked in Scotland a long time ago and learned about the Legendary Jimmy Shand. I posted that video hoping someone would like it. It is on You Tube. If you guys would like to hear some of Jimmy's playing over the years just Google his name a d it is there I have some of his albums and compositions since I play the accordion. They said there would never be another Jimmy Shand however there is a young man by the name of Brandon McPhee. He was a child prodigy. The critics and judges say he plays just like Jimmy. He plays the Shand Morino accordion the same type as Jimmy played.
