I have a great admiration for Paul. I love how he has expanded his playing by getting deep into the blues genre. You don’t see many guitarists change or add to their styles especially later in the game. Paul just plays whatever the hell he wants or whatever fits the narrative of the song or backing being played. He has fun with whatever it is. A true master of the instrument.
Paul is a monster player - adding that slide to his repertoire the past few years has been amazing, he can shred, tap, scorch and burn up the fretboard, and his slide work is so precise, yet soulful, as to have made it another amazing tool in his bag of tricks. I've also been a huge Steve Morse fan for 40 years as well! Paul's also a really nice guy, took some lessons from his rock school at Artist works, and even though I am well past the beginner stage, I learned some useful tips from him.
Professional guitarists, who really work hard at their instrument all of the time - a full time job for both of them - hence, masters! I am always inspired by such talent and skill, so I don't let it get me down. I have to feed the family and put kids through college, and am not nearly good enough to do that playing guitar, but I still have fun! When I retire, I can put more time into it!
Even the greatest guitar players have so much fun while playing with Paul. Everybody respects his skills and knowledge yet he's also humble and never wants to outshine others. Amazing playing by both of them.
I like how Steve gets a kick out of Paul’s playing! Must be an incredible feel to have some as iconic as Steve watch in admiration. . . Hard to believe but Paul’s play gets better and better!
I always knew Paul was a great player but I love that he gave up the 3 note per string melt your face licks for how he plays now more soulful and just kicking ass
Saw Paul Gilbert at a club in Pittsburgh when he was 17 just killing Cathedral on a homemade Mighty Mite guitar. Next thing I knew he was in LA doing the Racer X thing. I like his playing now, even more!
Both these guys are Fricking Incredible. I wish I could pick like either one of them. I lean towards Steve Morse a little more though. I don't know why just so much crazy feeling.
Paul's slender figure helps him to wear anything He likes or feels like wearing that day, and still look great, both blessed with that "mojo" few artists have.
Steve Morse with that blue Ernie Ball, he's worn the paint off that thing playing those mind blowing licks. What can you say about Paul Gilbert, the man is the student and teacher of the guitar. Always learning & adding to his catalog, while teaching others what he's learned at the same time. Both are amazing musicians.
I thought the Singer of Greta van Fleet is special for sounding exactly like Plant but apparently a Slide will get you even closer 😂 Also Pauls transitions between Slide and normal playing are so damn seamless, it's crazy!

Much like Randy Rhoads was. It's 100% about the MUSIC/SONG, not about showing off the Lydian Mode ( Joe Satriani... cough..cough... lol )
Totally agree!!!! So cool that he did what he originally did and can now play through some chord changes!

Hank Marvin retiring and getting into french acoustic gypsy jazz (and sounding great) is similarly cool to me.
Steve Morse has been playing great guitar since I was a baby, and I’m 60
Watching these two masters reminds me of how good I'm not.
But you have great taste

Just play & enjoy don't look down on your abilities let them be your inspiration ok?
I'm sure you are a good guitarist, your humbleness is sign of it!
What a great combination to see jam!

Imagine that - it’s not a contest, just two greats having a lot of fun!
Paul Gilbert the Jeff Goldblum of guitar
Lol so true
Not fair . Paul Gilbert is talented.
Hot damn that was FUN!!!
And I dig Paul's Elvis Costello costume
Paul is the "yoda" of the guitar community. I love him and wish him all the best!
Paul can really enunciate with that slide. I mean you can literally hear each syllable of the lyrics in your head when’s playing.
That slide work is rippin!
Paul removes the slide faster than any note he ever picked - amazing.
He seems to enjoy it more than anyone I can think of. Paul is a trip.
That feeling when Steve Morse can be John Paul Jones and Paul Gilbert can be Page and plant
eric dye Hearing Gilbert mimic Plant’s sung parts (including the effects) gave me 😁
Right on!
The pairing of Gilbert and Morse really works. And Paul as always plays something interesting.
IT DOESNT GET ANY BETTER!! LOVE YOU BOTH. STEVE, I CANT STOP SWINGING MY HEAD WHEN YOU SOLO. YOU ARE JUST AMAZING, AND SO ARE YOU PAUL
I like how Steve gets a kick out of Paul’s playing! Must be an incredible feel to have some as iconic as Steve watch in admiration. . . Hard to believe but Paul’s play gets better and better!
Blazing Guitars
I see the FUN written all over these Smilers.
Bravo!!!...
When you're crushing a Jimmy Page part and Steve Morse is second fiddle, you're the king of the world.
I always knew Paul was a great player but I love that he gave up the 3 note per string melt your face licks for how he plays now more soulful and just kicking ass
The best NAMM 2020 video I’ve seen so far. Thanks for posting it!
Two of all-time greatest guitarists having fun. It just works🥳
All smiles while watching. PG with the slide for the vocal part is awesome.
Best thing I've seen all day
Saw Paul Gilbert at a club in Pittsburgh when he was 17 just killing Cathedral on a homemade Mighty Mite guitar. Next thing I knew he was in LA doing the Racer X thing. I like his playing now, even more!
I was there, it was epic. Steve Lukather was digging it in the audience too.
Wow! Fantastic - two of my favorite guitar heroes ripping it up to Black Dog!
Both these guys are Fricking Incredible. I wish I could pick like either one of them. I lean towards Steve Morse a little more though. I don't know why just so much crazy feeling.

@Aloha Wahoo After 9 million Deep purple, Dreg + solo stuff, its kinda hard to remember how to play zepp.
Wow!!! I could listen to these two all day.
Paul's slender figure helps him to wear anything He likes or feels like wearing that day, and still look great, both blessed with that "mojo" few artists have.
These guys are great! Bonzos beats are so heavy, you can still feel it under all of this.
Great job shooting this, thanks!
7 is the number of perfection.
How could you not like Paul Gilbert?! He and Mr. Morse are incredible. Both are Masters of the trade, and one of a kind Artist's!!

This was awesome. Would love to hear this with full band....doing a whole night of Zep.
Two cool Guitar gentlemen heroes!
PG looks like a very straight insurance salesman who in the privacy of his own bedroom has picked up a guitar 🤣
Awesome job!
They needed to have Luke, Petrucci and the Ball family there to do another " what's your errand " NAMM video.
I really wonder if Lukather got offended by that "a clean old man" phrase done by Paul :D
Wicked Paul and Steve!
Two guitar masters jamming at NAMM.
Excellent!!! I am not worthy!
These guys kick ass.
Awesome
Mestres 🙌🏼
PG wow. Nice accompanyment. And taking turns calling and replying. Having a blast! Thats a lesson.
Paul is infectious.
Paul is a magician..suddenly the slider disappeared...half second
Paul has really mastered the slide and gets it to sing
I thought the Singer of Greta van Fleet is special for sounding exactly like Plant but apparently a Slide will get you even closer 😂 Also Pauls transitions between Slide and normal playing are so damn seamless, it's crazy!

Paul is a "Modker" rad jam!!
I love how Paul has morphed into Elvis Costello
@H Kay Loved Paul’s playing since Racer X and his progression in the guitar, but if he did a Costello cover I would lose my mind 😂😂
