you see that I have not installed ffnx but only 7 heaven and everything works perfectly! indeed first I installed the game from steam then 7 heaven and then I chose the mods to use and everything works !!!!! why in your video you explain to install ffnx when in truth it's useless!!!?????
this game is really becoming a yearly thing for me again, last year i played it with my kids and translated every dialouge to our native tounge and did some VA for the kids as well. This mod really made me happy, now i get to get the voice acting done for me and it's a real treat so far.
had similar experience, come back to it once a year or every other. im waiting to play with my kids still. too young to read, 5 years old. soon tho, very soon. (i want them to know how to read so its like a reward playing the game and training to read faster, like a book). wont be playing with voice audio with them.

I used the HD models up until Esther came into the story, and her model next to Cloud's was so absurd that I switched to Chibi. Much better overall experience.
My whole thing here is that while your character models look nicer, the rest of the game still... doesn't, by and large. The inconsistency pulls me out quite a bit. Hyper-detailed cloud fighting a blurry texture monster or talking to a block man on the side of the street.
So clear and easy to follow. Just got mine up and running with this mod list, thank you! Only thing is that I couldn't find a mod for "ninostyle minigames" and "ninostyle vehicles" like you have in your mod order. But I think those are covered already by other mods on the list. Thank you again for this awesome video!
It's wild to see all the hate echo s is getting because of translations and added lines. To discredit a fan made mod, the time everyone put in, and all the hard work is asinine. Everyone sounds amazing I think even the take on cloud surprisingly grew on me.
@BltzZ every community has its toxic side but the things I was seeing was crazy. great video tho man! If u haven't checked it out yet look up project edge (think it's called final fantasy 7 HD textures in 7th Heaven). I've been running that over syw v5 field textures and it's really well done so far. Just not 100% sure if every field is done.
My favourite game of all time, but I've always played it vanilla. Most of the graphic mods always looked jarring/out of place to me, not fitting the original aesthetic. But the last time I looked up mods was years ago...now it seems like its at a place where they fit in nicely with the original design of the game! I might have to give them a try.

Great video BltzZ! FF7 was one of those games I played religiously as a little kid when the PS1 came out. Can't wait to boot it up again! For anyone doing this now, and only have 2 paths in settings; devs removed movies and textures path selection. No need to worry about it.
yep you should release a more current video of current version of 7th heaven because im having trouble. It's not detecting the file directory and when i manually choose the ff7 steam version it says it says steam version is not supported on 7th heaven so this video is now irrelevany. take it down please

In General Settings dialog, I don't see entries for "Movie" or "Textures", and I'm unable to find the "Library" path to ".../mods/7th Heaven". Do I have to create both folder "mods" and then "7th Heaven"? By the way, after fixing everything, ff7 does not longer work!!!! 🤔

I got og FF7 for Xmas as a kid the year it released. The chibi models always piss maxed me. The battle models should have been used instead throughout the game.
i get so annoyed trying to look for a modern tutorial for the mod because everyone is just talking about echo-s. i wish there was an updated install tutorial because these instructions aren't working I get stopped at the 7th heaven settings I don't even have the movies or textures section in my general settings and the "mod" folder we're supposed to be able to select just doesnt exist for me. giving up.
Started a new fully modded playthrought with ambient sound, textures, improved chibi models, etc... I can't believe how good it is. The dark mood is awesome compared to the comedy the remakes are. I still enjoy Rebirth.

hey i dont know why but ive followed your steps up to the point where i have run the 7th heaven .exe and when i do it just says "this action is only valid for products that are currently installed" and ive tried everything to get it to work and there's nothing on the internet on how to fix it and i did buy FF7 on steam. i was wondering if you knew anything about that?
I get a message when trying to update the FFNX Canary option: "Something went wrong while checking for FFNx update. Please try again later." Is this just because There are no updates available, or is this an issue?
Let’s admit folks, If we are here is because we love the original FFVII, and although we fans APPRECIATE the remake we know down deep they shouldn’t had made so many changes to the story. These mods are the closes we’ll ever get to a remake of the only from 1997. Thank you for your video and the clear instructions. Cannot wait to replay it and try all these mods.
Never leave comments but got to say thanks for this video. I did all the steps and am replaying my fav game of all time now. The voice acting, graphics, added lines, everything, it's awesome! Once I put the FPS on auto due to it being insanely slow, everything else was smooth. They did an amazing job and it'll be a whole new experience now. Thanks again!

I wanted to tell you that I finally bought FFVII on Steam and moded it as you indicate in this video; fortunately, I managed to download the Echo-S mod the night you livestreamed anouncing about its release, so I was able to install it, manually, following your video too for this purpose. The thing is that FFVII, with all this mods, is the remaster we deserved from Square Enix, but they didn't give a s*** about, so f*** them... thanks for sharing this information and God bless.
Been waiting 26 years for something like this! Currently playing Final Fantasy VII Remake on PC (just built a new gaming rig, old one was at the end of it's life cycle), but nothing beats the original!
I followed this entire guide and setup all the mods exactly as the same. Only complaint is enemy attacks or when using limit breaks(like clouds braver) the sound is really dull, or even just regular attacks with clouds buster sword. Its missing the typical FF7 heavy hit noise when hitting some one with clouds big sword!
i reccomend to stick with the chibi style models, it takes away too mutch immersion to run with the hd style since a lot of the charm the game had to offer revolves arround it, and no matter how well the backgrounds etc look like in hd, it simply feels like your charackter is ten times taller than he should be in certain areas, espacially when you run into npcs wich dont have the same sort of scale. maybe one day, they manage to remake the enemie models and certain npcs too but till that day i cant actually reccomend the hd style models. i tried out new thread 2.0 since its the only playstyle that allows you to save Aerith instead of loosing her but i gotta be honest to you.... it is way way way, way way way way way way way, way way way way, way way.... waaaaay.... too hard. you're litterly getting 0 xp , multiplieing materia for the Ultimate 7 times knight of the round wombo combo is a wet dream that never ever will happen if you choose to play this mod. so dont get mad if you attempt to play the mod without ever feeling like tripple sayajin goku lol this gamemod is mean and scales up with your teams abilities, some say it makes the fights consistant interresting, i say, it breaks immersion since the og ff7 gave the grind as an option to the players, this mod, forces excessive ammounts of grind just to progress, so i actually gave it up before the aerith rescue part, i was stressed out once i reached Junon in this mod, and that alone took like a week of everyday gameplay. it just never lets you breath easy, every encounter feels like a bossfight you barely survive. it changes a lot, and i realy do like the changes that it makes in some areas wich completely allow to alternate the outcome and the ways you might be choosing at some points of the game. i caught myself laughing my ass off multiple times cause of the charming way they indroduce these changes to the player but dont ask me if it was worth the hustle... and i realy did like the 70 - 80 days grind the og game had in store for me in order to beat everything in one attack and have all the chocobos in the world in store, but this is grind on an other level, some people wont finish this mod as it is right now, before they go to retirement. i have not jet messed arround with the eso voicelines and i can imagine they add a lot of immersion to the game where it was lacking before. but modding the game and keeping everything updated, at least once or twice, forced me to reinstall windows in order to make space on my harddrive lol i experienced issues with steam in cooperation with the savefile and modfile location, steam wont allow you to choose any other location than your harddrive C, that alone ment, i had to rearrange my entire savespace just to make enough space for the game and its mods. so make sure, you start with a clean Local C drive, make backup copies of important savegames of other games you might want to play later on, cause that makes it way easier to realy have a clean local C Drive before you start with the installation shinanigans. once it runs, it runs buttery smooth and realy is a remakes worth for the old game title who still, up to this day, has one of the most engaging gameplay and story elements, you'll ever encounter in a rpg.
Use the remake music instead of the old one and that's basically the remake we all wanted... But no, they had to go full 3D action superproduction instead...
Great video ! I’m actually having issues last night when I was using 7th heaven, the loading speeds whenever transitioning back to world map after winning a battle and entering someone’s house took extremely long time. Is there anything I can do about it ?
@@leonchong391 that might be the case. Even tho it's an older game, some of these mods are intense with machines. Try changing to direct X 9 or direct X 11 and see if that helps.
Yeah and if that does not work. Try disabling all mods except echo s. Then one by one turn them on and try going in and out of towns to see which is the culprit
7th Heaven program has made things even easier. You don't even need to do a lot of these early steps. For example it handles the FFNx and folders for you. Even manages mounting the discs if you still have the original 1998 PC disc ISOs
I've done everything you mentioned in the general setting. Also, i don't see the path to time or other path. I tried to play but keep having a pop up and said, "game file not found". I do have FF7 on steam. Any suggestions??
I get an error message about a missing registry when I try to play and the only advice I can find online is to uninstall FF7 and 7th heaven, clear the related registry files, reinstall and try again. Do I need to move the FF7 files or do anything special to make sure Steam FF7 is compatible with 7th Heaven?
Why is the remastered PS5 version from SquareEnix so much worser than that? I understand that wouldn't have used those new character models bc maybe people disliked them, so instead they just updated the old models... but only the models. so compared to the background they are like FULL HD and the background is 240p which is just stupid WHY are fans... just fans! so much better at this?
Bro great guide but one question, when I turn off the music from the Echo-S configuration it just shuts off the music entirely instead of switching to the original. 17:20 UPDATE: for those that want to the voice acting and keep the OG music you need to install the FFNx FF7music mod found in the catalog.

Everything works wonderful for me, except the battles are always stuck at 15fps but everything else is good. Would you have any suggestions. And yes, Vsync is turned off :)

SQEX is such a disappointment, this is what players want but everytime they do a remake they always change so much things in game and this time with ever crisis they included first solider (failure imo) and ff13 gimmicks to it which spoils the whole game. Trust me EC will be fine for the start but it will fail eventually.
I prefer the bad graphics etc for nostalgia but I'm behind the modding of these classics 200% It's such a catch to help us relive our youth and maybe new players fall in love with these old games
The real remake! The remake is such a mess tbh. It's like they don't get what the og game is about. And this cutting up an old game in three parts but changing the story is just fucking dumb
I keep getting the error saying 7th heaven does not support the steam release. It created a new Executable in the Games section on my PC but that just crashes every time 7th heaven tries to open it.
Modding this game is stupidly unstable. Pretty hard to mess up following this guide yet the game still crashes. Picture freezes but the game still continues in the background. Followed everything exactly. Freezes in combat, saving, running around, etc. Super upsetting. Was very excited to play the original FF7 with voice acting. edit: uninstalled everything, reinstalled only with echo s and 60 fps, still freezes/crashes. What a terrible experience.

Thank you for everything you do, been with you now since the FF7R Combat guides back in the day (spoiler I went on to speedrun the game lol) One addition you may not have been aware of: As you explained, the mod order is very important, there is a listing in red on the 7th Heaven forum page outlining the correct order. However I recently found out there is an "up and down arrow" button the right side of the UI which Auto Sorts Mod Order! I was happy to find that and I think it will save a whole lot of hassle for people.

@@BltzZ Ey it's the least I could do if I could show you something you didnt know! it depends on the category and difficulty as to whether they utilize Syngergy, for example I run NG+ Easy & Normal where it is not needed as bosses get melted anyway and syngergy would be unneccassary roughness lol. It is however used a lot in NG+ Hard mode (and presumably NG Hard unless it is too far out of the way to obtain) There were also big differences between Vanilla and Intergrade which was like a fighting games buff and nerf list, and that made Synergy actually worth using in the first place as it sucked in Vanilla (Limits could also be cucked in vanilla which now they have I-frames galore) If you ever wanna learn a run or some strats etc then shout me and i'll break down the whole game for you (Or Yuffie as it's 45 mins)
I think 7th Heaven installs FFnx. At least I did nothing manually when installed mod yesterday. I just installed FF7 first and run it once. Chrono Trigger music in background; Echo-S mod for that would be amazing as well.

Yea. All the environments were scaled for chibi. It's so weird to see proportional models next to strangely big furniture.

hey i dont know why but ive followed your steps up to the point where i have run the 7th heaven .exe and when i do it just says "this action is only valid for products that are currently installed" and ive tried everything to get it to work and there's nothing on the internet on how to fix it and i did buy FF7 on steam. i was wondering if you knew anything about that?
Make sure 7th heaven and FF7 are on the same hdd
I get a message when trying to update the FFNX Canary option: "Something went wrong while checking for FFNx update. Please try again later." Is this just because There are no updates available, or is this an issue?
Let’s admit folks, If we are here is because we love the original FFVII, and although we fans APPRECIATE the remake we know down deep they shouldn’t had made so many changes to the story. These mods are the closes we’ll ever get to a remake of the only from 1997. Thank you for your video and the clear instructions. Cannot wait to replay it and try all these mods.
Never leave comments but got to say thanks for this video. I did all the steps and am replaying my fav game of all time now. The voice acting, graphics, added lines, everything, it's awesome! Once I put the FPS on auto due to it being insanely slow, everything else was smooth. They did an amazing job and it'll be a whole new experience now. Thanks again!

Put borderless then hit F11 or the full screen key then.

I wanted to tell you that I finally bought FFVII on Steam and moded it as you indicate in this video; fortunately, I managed to download the Echo-S mod the night you livestreamed anouncing about its release, so I was able to install it, manually, following your video too for this purpose.
The thing is that FFVII, with all this mods, is the remaster we deserved from Square Enix, but they didn't give a s*** about, so f*** them... thanks for sharing this information and God bless.

I followed this entire guide and setup all the mods exactly as the same. Only complaint is enemy attacks or when using limit breaks(like clouds braver) the sound is really dull, or even just regular attacks with clouds buster sword. Its missing the typical FF7 heavy hit noise when hitting some one with clouds big sword!
You can change the sounds back to vanilla that's what I do. Double click Cosmo memory and chance battle sounds for vanilla
Turn the music volume down and the sounds will be louder. Cosmo Memory says right up front it recommends music being at 60%.
i reccomend to stick with the chibi style models, it takes away too mutch immersion to run with the hd style since a lot of the charm the game had to offer revolves arround it, and no matter how well the backgrounds etc look like in hd, it simply feels like your charackter is ten times taller than he should be in certain areas, espacially when you run into npcs wich dont have the same sort of scale. maybe one day, they manage to remake the enemie models and certain npcs too but till that day i cant actually reccomend the hd style models.
i tried out new thread 2.0 since its the only playstyle that allows you to save Aerith instead of loosing her but i gotta be honest to you.... it is way way way,
way way way way way way way, way way way way, way way.... waaaaay.... too hard. you're litterly getting 0 xp , multiplieing materia for the Ultimate 7 times knight of the round wombo combo is a wet dream that never ever will happen if you choose to play this mod. so dont get mad if you attempt to play the mod without ever feeling like tripple sayajin goku lol
this gamemod is mean and scales up with your teams abilities, some say it makes the fights consistant interresting, i say, it breaks immersion since the og ff7 gave the grind as an option to the players, this mod, forces excessive ammounts of grind just to progress, so i actually gave it up before the aerith rescue part, i was stressed out once i reached Junon in this mod, and that alone took like a week of everyday gameplay. it just never lets you breath easy, every encounter feels like a bossfight you barely survive. it changes a lot, and i realy do like the changes that it makes in some areas wich completely allow to alternate the outcome and the ways you might be choosing at some points of the game. i caught myself laughing my ass off multiple times cause of the charming way they indroduce these changes to the player but dont ask me if it was worth the hustle... and i realy did like the 70 - 80 days grind the og game had in store for me in order to beat everything in one attack and have all the chocobos in the world in store, but this is grind on an other level, some people wont finish this mod as it is right now, before they go to retirement.
i have not jet messed arround with the eso voicelines and i can imagine they add a lot of immersion to the game where it was lacking before.
but modding the game and keeping everything updated, at least once or twice, forced me to reinstall windows in order to make space on my harddrive lol
i experienced issues with steam in cooperation with the savefile and modfile location, steam wont allow you to choose any other location than your harddrive C, that alone ment, i had to rearrange my entire savespace just to make enough space for the game and its mods. so make sure, you start with a clean Local C drive, make backup copies of important savegames of other games you might want to play later on, cause that makes it way easier to realy have a clean local C Drive before you start with the installation shinanigans.
once it runs, it runs buttery smooth and realy is a remakes worth for the old game title who still, up to this day, has one of the most engaging gameplay and story elements, you'll ever encounter in a rpg.

Use the remake music instead of the old one and that's basically the remake we all wanted... But no, they had to go full 3D action superproduction instead...

Great video ! I’m actually having issues last night when I was using 7th heaven, the loading speeds whenever transitioning back to world map after winning a battle and entering someone’s house took extremely long time. Is there anything I can do about it ?

@@leonchong391 that might be the case. Even tho it's an older game, some of these mods are intense with machines. Try changing to direct X 9 or direct X 11 and see if that helps.

Yeah and if that does not work. Try disabling all mods except echo s. Then one by one turn them on and try going in and out of towns to see which is the culprit
7th Heaven program has made things even easier. You don't even need to do a lot of these early steps. For example it handles the FFNx and folders for you. Even manages mounting the discs if you still have the original 1998 PC disc ISOs

I've done everything you mentioned in the general setting. Also, i don't see the path to time or other path. I tried to play but keep having a pop up and said, "game file not found". I do have FF7 on steam. Any suggestions??
Is this applicable to Emulators such as PCSX android version¿🤔?
I get an error message about a missing registry when I try to play and the only advice I can find online is to uninstall FF7 and 7th heaven, clear the related registry files, reinstall and try again. Do I need to move the FF7 files or do anything special to make sure Steam FF7 is compatible with 7th Heaven?
Why is the remastered PS5 version from SquareEnix so much worser than that? I understand that wouldn't have used those new character models bc maybe people disliked them, so instead they just updated the old models... but only the models. so compared to the background they are like FULL HD and the background is 240p which is just stupid

Everything works wonderful for me, except the battles are always stuck at 15fps but everything else is good. Would you have any suggestions. And yes, Vsync is turned off :)

edit: so i followed all this to a T and it doesnt work at all. nothing is connecting had to uninstall and reinstall just to play it vanilla. I've modded games before but this just isnt clicking

Great mod but not perfect. Still has lot of bugs on it and sometimes some actions will not sync.
SQEX is such a disappointment, this is what players want but everytime they do a remake they always change so much things in game and this time with ever crisis they included first solider (failure imo) and ff13 gimmicks to it which spoils the whole game. Trust me EC will be fine for the start but it will fail eventually.
I prefer the bad graphics etc for nostalgia but I'm behind the modding of these classics 200% It's such a catch to help us relive our youth and maybe new players fall in love with these old games

The remake is such a mess tbh. It's like they don't get what the og game is about. And this cutting up an old game in three parts but changing the story is just fucking dumb
I keep getting the error saying 7th heaven does not support the steam release. It created a new Executable in the Games section on my PC but that just crashes every time 7th heaven tries to open it.
Too bad SquareEnix couldn't do this rather than going for a money grab with the new game of FF7. Why mess with perfection but they did.
Replace the canary thing with the stable version and it will work perfectly. Canary works with linux only.
Modding this game is stupidly unstable. Pretty hard to mess up following this guide yet the game still crashes. Picture freezes but the game still continues in the background. Followed everything exactly. Freezes in combat, saving, running around, etc. Super upsetting. Was very excited to play the original FF7 with voice acting.
edit: uninstalled everything, reinstalled only with echo s and 60 fps, still freezes/crashes. What a terrible experience.

One addition you may not have been aware of: As you explained, the mod order is very important, there is a listing in red on the 7th Heaven forum page outlining the correct order. However I recently found out there is an "up and down arrow" button the right side of the UI which Auto Sorts Mod Order! I was happy to find that and I think it will save a whole lot of hassle for people.

it depends on the category and difficulty as to whether they utilize Syngergy, for example I run NG+ Easy & Normal where it is not needed as bosses get melted anyway and syngergy would be unneccassary roughness lol. It is however used a lot in NG+ Hard mode (and presumably NG Hard unless it is too far out of the way to obtain)
There were also big differences between Vanilla and Intergrade which was like a fighting games buff and nerf list, and that made Synergy actually worth using in the first place as it sucked in Vanilla (Limits could also be cucked in vanilla which now they have I-frames galore) If you ever wanna learn a run or some strats etc then shout me and i'll break down the whole game for you (Or Yuffie as it's 45 mins)
I think 7th Heaven installs FFnx. At least I did nothing manually when installed mod yesterday. I just installed FF7 first and run it once.

Yeah you can its the ninostyle chibi models, I just used the taller models in this one but they are totally there and can be used in this ones place.
The characters look awesome especially cloud i even like this better than how they look in ff7 remake.
