Thanks for posting this.. and not ignoring the factors that caused the accident. Riding on dirt needs LOADS of practice and sensibility. Speed on any dirt trail is asking for trouble. I think I'm sold on the GTR as my next ride, especially as I'm frequently on dirt due to where I live.
Glad you are ok (well as of this video, bet you were sore the next day!).
    Keep up the good work.

Yeah in still feeling a bit sore, but good enough to ride and film today. Hopefully new video out on Saturday!
Oh and if you do buy a GTR, the code GINGERONWHEELS saves you $50 and kicks back a few bucks to the channel also. 🫡 Good luck with your dirt rides.

I'm glad you didn't get seriously hurt. Who knows how long you would have to wait for help. You should never go out on those isolated trails by yourself. You should always have a buddy system. Even if you're a great rider, something could break on your ride and send you into a tree or rock. Don't take risks like that for viewers. We need you in one piece to keep making videos even if they're tame. You got lucky this time, so don't press your luck. You're not as easily replaced as that e-scooter.

    Great Video Ginger,
I hope you are feeling better and i am really glad you had your protective gear on, and helmet !
I just purchased a new wolf king gtr from voro motors in panorama city, yesterday, i like this scooter a lot! its been charging up and i will ride the scooter for the first time, very soon !
before riding my new gtr, i wanted to watch all of your videos of you riding your gtr and learn from you. and i am really glad i watched your video first, before riding my new gtr.
my last scooter was a wolf king gt pro, and now i know to give myself time to adjust to the physics/geometry/weight of this scooter in order that i may optimize my riding experience to the greatest fun factor !
    Thank you !

Hey DUDE! That was an epic video!! IT was soooooo great!! I mean I am, and I am sure the rest of everybody else is very lad to see that you did not hurt yourself that bad! I do hope that you didn't really damage/break any ribs as you haven't said that you did. But, seeing that crash in real-time like that is definitely NOT something that you get to see everyday. But, it really added an element of realism to your video. I rally appreciate that you kept it in the video. I mean you kept everything in there including the moments immediately after when a person goes thru the hurt, pain and figuring out exactly how bad they got hurt! In addition, why I think most of us agree that it was a mistake on your part, anyone who has braved the trails, especially on a new ride of which familiarization has not yet been established that we are all more prone to have accidents. So in that respect you made, at least I think, a common human mistake. But, you did it for the right reasons. First of all, you wanted to produce a great video which in and of itself makes one push the envelope. Then, it was just soooooo much fun that really makes it hard to hold back even though you know you should be taking it more easy until you get the machine your on and the trail you are riding wired.
I had a similar experience on a ne YT Tues DH mountainbike. I took a trip all the way from Texas to Utah at the trails at Park City. I was so pumped! It was my very first time riding my new bike, it was a full suspension primarily spring based and was way different in feel then my Giant Trance 3. SO it feels a great deal different then what I am used to riding. My center of gravity seems to ride higher, the way it reacts to the trail conditions, the new unfamiliar trail I have never ridden, which were much different then the trails I had only ridden once on a three day trip to Winterpark Colorado at Trestle Bike Park. I am in totally unfamiliar territory in all respects. So I take two trams all the way up to the top and I am coming down and I am having fun and I am going faster and faster thinking I am cool and I get to a double banked turn and I go into the first turn at an angle that makes the second adjoining turn more of a challenge and I am going too fast and before I know it I cant pull the bike into the trail exit and I literally launch at a fast speed off the trail and off the side of the mountain. I am 30 or so feet in the air, I ditch my bike downward and flyi thru the air. I roll in the air so that I land on my back, but fortunately the slope of the side of the mountain mitigated a great deal of force and I ended up stopping just before I hit a ten inch tree. I did the same thing you did for about ten minutes until I figured out I hadn't broke anything, and I could move. I had to very carefully work my way up the steep side of the mountain, manage to retrieve my bike and push it upwards in front of me till I made it back to the actual trail I was riding. I managed to get myself up over the edge and onto the trail again. I sat there for about ten minutes still assessing the extent of my injury and decided I was alright to ride the rest of the way down. It still took me like forever to get down to the first tram (not the whole MTB trail). I sat down again for 30 mins or so and called my wife and told her what happened and that I wasn't going to be able to ride down the rest of the way and that I would take the second tram down the mountain. BY the time I made it down to the bottom I was hurting so bad internally that I just put my bike in the vehicle and we went back to our hotel room, which was very nice BTW. My whole trip was a loss. I was too bruised internally to ride anymore. We stayed in the hotel for the length of our stay and drove back to Texas, which was wasn't easy as bad as I was hurting but I made it. So I totally understand what you were feeling. I felt really stupid. I got way too over confident and I paid for it. FOrtunately I was able after a couple of weeks to fully recover with no major injury, but it could have been a lot worse.
I think you exposed that if the GTR has an off-road weakness it is that the battery lock-in mech is not robust enough to hold the battery in the event that the scooter takes a roll, on or off-road. Kaabo definitely needs to fix the battery locking mech to make it robust enough to hold that heavy battery firmly in place because it is clearly lacking. I suspected as much when you cited the fact that it could probably be jerked out of its well by just yanking it hard enough due to the weakness of the locking mechanism. That was a great thing to uncover. I also think a great accessory for would be like a brake lever guard that can be installed on the handlebars to protect the handlebar braking parts in the event of a spill. They have them for Motocross bikes and that would do much toward preventing what happened to your front brake on that fall. In any case, the video was outstanding, in and of itself even without the wreck but it made the video even that much greater. Keep doing these off-raod videos as they are the best and most fun to watch. I would find maybe some better flowy trails that do not have as much of the technical stuff so that you can really take some trails at speed like in some of you brother videos on lesser scooters. It is really cool when you are ripping down those trails at breakneck speeds and I am sure it will be moreso on that badass trail killer the GTR. Also, do some more trails you can do more jumps on as well. We all want to see how well it takes jumps, and set up external vantage point cameras so we can really see the GTR in action from an outside perspective as well. That will really depict how well it takes jumps and the like!! In any case, just keep up the great work, your videos are some of the most exciting and fun to watch and your technical coverage is very helpful as well so keep on keeping on. You are definitely one of the top YT scooter content creators and that's with some stiff competition too!!! Can't wait until your next video, especially looking for more on that GTR!!!

Hope you're OK. The battery flying out is concerning, battery flying across pavement wouldn't be good. That said, maybe a nutty take, but because this scoot can do good range, speed and all terrain, even over some obstacles (pretty rare, would not attempt with any of mine) in the hands of an experienced rider it might be an ideal survival machine for after a storm or other disaster, as it can be recharged with pretty minimal solar. As an aside, I've seen little trailers attached to the Wolf to make them useful work horses. Pretty cool application. Hope they upgrade that battery latch situation, address possible water ingress with all the play and seams in that removable design. Wolf keeps improving...!

Ouch! Too bad you didn't geotag the crash site, so we could all leave virtual flowers there. On a more serious note, what gear did you have on that day? You might also want to add a pair of ibuprofens in your toolkit. If you take them immediately after a crash, before the adrenaline wears off, it will take the edge off the you-know-its-coming pain and inflammation. It definitely helped me when I crash landed right on my hip, though I still ended up bedridden for two weeks afterwards.

Off Roading on a scooter is really desperation stuff, (I use my Trek Rail 9 Mountain Bike for that!).
Off Roading even basic tracks with roots and rocks is not enjoyable, for me anyway, I've tried many times in my Wolf King GT Pro.
Smooth Tracks are great, but rutted forget it.
6 months later edit... I now have the GTR (and still have the GT Pro) the suspension upgrade is a big step up. In conjunction with the bigger tyres, and traction control it does give confidence off road. I like jumping off sidewalks now, It thinks nothing of them. Will head off road when I get the chance.

For audio I saw in a video that you use a Rode wirelss mic to record audio, is that what you use when youre riding around on the scooter as well? Also if thats what you use, is there any problem with wind or does the wind guard stop most the wind noise.
Also do you use a Go Pro to record? And have you ever used an Insta360 camera (Go 3 or X3)
Thanks again for the detailed content you post, hopefully I can do something similar at some point

I currently don’t own a scooter and am researching trying to decide on my first one and am heavily leaning towards the GT Pro since its cheaper and has longer range and can still off road. I also am liking the sounds of the Yume Osprey that’s coming out next month, its under $3K and has a 72V 40ah battery so on paper it seems like it’ll have wicked speed and range but I don’t see much content of Yume scooters on RUclips so that concerns me of their quality and reputation. It seems like kaabo is the way to go perhaps. Any input would be appreciated! Thanks for the great content, keep up the good work!

I just purchased my first scooter. I would recommend that you have local dealer support or somewhere you can take it to to have it fixed. That being said, the ability to get parts is also and can be a challenge, then knowing how to fix or replace things can and is a pain in the butt. I'd also think about how you plan on using it. Standing up for a while gets old quick on your feet and legs.

    • @GingerOnWheels
      @GingerOnWheels  Год назад +1

I'd guess the difference in range is 2-5 miles on identical routes. On the wolf's I tend to get around 1 mile range per amp hour I've found. If you don't plan to off-road much and don't need the traction control or the extra clearance then the GT Pro is still a great scooter, just make sure you get the rear suspension upgrade kit from PEVOutlet for it if you plan to bash it up off-road. The GT Pro has taller deck to bar height too so it's much more suitable for streets.

I read in the manual that i may charge this scooter with two 5 amp chargers at a time duration of 3.5 hours.
however, i purchased a “roger fast charger” which is very similar looking to your fast charger that you have shown before. with the ability to charge at up to 135 volts, at up to 15 amps, and it is required to manually control/adjust the voltage and amperage according to given battery specifications.
I recently watched a video of yours where you mentioned that the dualtron storm can accept two eight amp chargers.
this made me wonder if the wolf king gtr can be charged at a similar power (amperage)
If possible, please make a video showing fast charging the wolf king gtr with your custom fast charger. For example, 10 to 15 amps, at the correct voltage for this battery.
Also, i need to buy the charger side, plug, for the wolf king gtr, so that i can connect my fast charger to the gtr scooter. but i cannot locate the name of the plug that is being used on the wolf king charger.
Do you know or can you find out the name of the plug that is being used on the wolf king gtr chargers?
    any information would be helpful.
I appreciate your knowledge and all of your videos !
    Note:
Ginger, what is the absolute fastest charge the wolf king gtr can handle, if i’m sitting right next to the battery, monitoring temperature and voltage very carefully. or what is the fastest the wolf king gtr can be charged up to 80% capacity ?
if you know this, or can find out, this would be very helpful.
Have you read about gbatteries quick charging protocols? i wish that technology was available to the public. i spoke with the company years ago, and their dream is for the public to have easy access to quick charging.
surprisingly, the company agreed that only the public demanding this technology, can bring it out into the hands of everyone.
talk about this Ginger, please !

I've watched this crash over so many times and relived it in my head and I think I know what happened. I have a bad habit of locking up the rear tire and sliding the rear end of the scooter around corners. I don't have to slow down as much and it makes it a lot more fun. I tried to do the same thing on this corner (You can see all the dust in the air right after I crashed from the sliding tire) but there was a sharp berm to the right side of my rear tire. I was in a rut and didn't realize it so when I attempted to slide the rear out to the right side nothing happened. The scooter just kept going straight right into the corner. I made a last ditch effort to turn the scooter using traditional methods but the front tire got stuck in a rut off the trail. The scooter basically stopped instantly and left me with all the forward momentum. Instead of doing a flip over the front handlebars I opted to literally throw the handlebars to the ground and jump over the top of them. I tried to tuck and roll, but we also saw how that worked out. Basically just face planted right onto my forehead.

The bars are going so crazy that without a thumb wrapped around the bar your hand is liable to pop off. You got one thumb off for the throttle, a finger or two covering the brakes and you're left with a ring finger and pinky holding on for dear life.
