This is by far the best and easiest explanation on the RODE wireless mic set up . Your channel is very underrated. Thanks for making this process easy to understand.
THIS VIDEO WAS EXACTLY WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR -- THANK YOUUUUUU!!!!! I watched so many just to find this video and you showed EXACTLY what I was looking for, no time wasted on your channel. THANK YOU!
Really liked your video. Would have loved to know more about the actual settings on the A7iii, how do you set up the audio levels showing on your screen etc. Thanks!
Best straight forward and to the point with clear and precise info. Thank you. I wanted to know if the audio would be automatically synced to the video so i can save time in post production and you answered that clearly for me. Cheers happy new yr.
I was looking for a simple video how to set it up and this one was just perfect, easy and to the pint, no fancy language and faffing around like others. So, thanks a lot. Really appreciate it.
I got it from Wex for around £170, it's a great bit of kit I use to get feed audio out of a PA and into camera for a scratch track, and also into an external recorder so I can hit record from camera position. The in built mics are also pretty decent in a pinch, but I mainly use it as a small lightweight transceiver system when filming and live streaming. I really like them!
DUDE my mics were not working & shotgun mic also, this whole time I had it plugged INTO THE WRONG PORT😂😂I just found out theres another port dedicated for mics on the a7iii🤣thanks LOL
@@Brooklyenss Yes, I did! User error - my cable wasn't plugged in the correct jack. I didn't see the small flap underneath the shoulder strap hook. Good to go now. Thanks for asking!
You'd have to use an external recorder for one of them - I actually use a Zoom H1 for the second Rode unit, and then I have a scratch track on camera and can sync the two together. There might be other ways but not to get 2 discrete channels into a mirrorless camera, internally, and simultaneously.
@Y0ung8lood You can... For an iPhone use the dedicated Rode SC6-L which lets you connect 2 mics to 1 phone (its a lightning connector for iphone) You can also use the SC6 which is 2 TRRS inputs and a headphone jack for Android as its a TRRS jack but it can connect tot he iPhone lightning to headphone adapter also. Each reciever needs to be connected to the SC6 or SC6_L using the SC7 as it is TRS out from the receiver and needs to be TRRS to the splitter. I use 2 Rode Go's connected to an iPhone 12 Max Pro using the SC6_L and SC7 cables. Works fine.
Great demo mate, I have a wireless go sat in my Amazon wish list, just hoping the price will come down a bit. I want to use one on my Gopro hero 8 for vloging hooked up to the media mod. Looking forward to watching your unboxing/reviews etc. Best wishes Jon.
You and me both! I've just relented and bought a second one (a white one this time!), I really am impressed with the first one, I'll get some sample audio up as soon as I get some editing time. I'm finding more and more uses for it, the only thing that worries me is the amount of faulty ones you see being sold on eBay, hopefully it doesn't mean they're not up to the job!
Odd that the transmitter jack for a mic is trs out and not trrs out. They should make it trrs out and ship the SC7 by default. This means that the lav Pro cannot be directly connected to the transmitter but an additional SC4 is required to use the lav mic. as most modern pcs are not single jack trrs this makes more sense.
Yeah, although I don't use it with a lav and I'm thankful that I don't have adapters to deal with when i'm setting up in a hurry - usually i use it to get a feed out of a PA via XLR-TRS and send it to the camera position to get a scratch track with quality audio to sync to my other sources, but yeah if you're using it with a lav you're better off using regular trs lavs.
if you can connect the audio signal between the Rode and the camcorder, via a connection with a digital recorder, that would be ideal.. you would have two audio tracks... :)
If You've got an old entry level dsl like my Nikon d3100 it DOES NOT have a mic so this WILL NOT WORK. Just in case anybody with the same caera as mine is wondering why the mic doesn't work. That AV out jack is NOT a mic jack, so it won't work. You have to either record sound with an external recorder and sync in post (pain) or but another camera (expensive). Yay !
Your explanation very good but you should add B-Roll so audience can see the details what you're trying explain.

I have connected rode wireless 2 with Sony a73 but sound not coming in video .... when I check on laptop footage
Did you ever get the sound in the video

where are you looking to monitor the clipping/audio levels? on your camera or on the rode receiver?
Hi 👋
I have a Canon eos m50 Mark 2... what setting on the attenuator please when I have the rode wireless go?
Best straight forward and to the point with clear and precise info. Thank you. I wanted to know if the audio would be automatically synced to the video so i can save time in post production and you answered that clearly for me. Cheers happy new yr.

How much? Where did you bought this product? And how is it?

why do you need the transmitter if the receiver is plugged into the camera directly?
I need help with the set up for the canon camera
I just bought mine and have no idea how to use this rode mic setup. thanks for this helpful tutorial
Is this mic compatible to panasonic lumix s5? Plz somebody answer. Thanks

Awesome thank you!
Is the hotshoe clip plastic?
Thank you! the other videos were all 30 minutes and I don't have that sort of time. Thanks :)
Thank you for the video! very helpful!
Did you get a buzzing noise? I can't get rid of it when I have the receiver plugged in to my Panasonic Lumix GH5
Thank you, Fairclough Studios! The only thing I had to find is where exactly is the volume, but following your setup made it work. Many thanks :)
DUDE my mics were not working & shotgun mic also, this whole time I had it plugged INTO THE WRONG PORT😂😂I just found out theres another port dedicated for mics on the a7iii🤣thanks LOL
This comment helped me more than the video lmao
I set up exactly as you did, but with a Sony ZV-E10. But when I recorded and played it back, I hear no sound. Did I miss a step? Help, please.
Did you end up getting it to work?

I can't set up right quality with my Canon 700D :(((
I don't see in menu any option with volume panel.
You're not alone, I just got this mic and I'm using a canon EOSR
Also don't see any volume panel.
Do you start out with the db set to 0 on the receiver for the lav mic and adjust camera volume accordingly?
Thanks for this, saved me a lot of time.
Thank you. This was so helpful
Can I use this on a Sony a7c
Great video! Thank you!
Does this work with any camera
Does this work the same with dslr?

Thanks, wasn't sure how to mount into hot shoe, they don't show you that.
great job with the break down!
Helpful video, but a B ROLL was necessary
Hey great video. Do u know if the ride wireless go is compatible with the canon 90D?
Rode*
WTF just realised there is another Fairclough somewhere else in the world that is a photographer haha.
The video is good but the background is a bit disgusting
Really helpful thanks
Thank you!
You're welcome!
Good video, but my sony won't recognize this device. :( Frastrating.
should have showed an example of the audio
yeah, i'm going to do a side-by side with the Zoom H1, instamic, and Rode VMP straight into the camera to show the quality.
Audio still won’t work for me…
Thanks!
I couldn't see anything :(
