I just re found your channel and I must say, I'm completely addicted to watching your content, you put so much effort and quality into your videos! It's inspiring me to go and metal detect my hunting land as I know there's probably some cool stuff there since it used to be farmed and I think there might even be some other items from long ago. Thank you for the amazing content! And I wish you nothing but the absolute best!

You are right, the amount of stuff I accidentally dropped over the side when I was in the Navy, would definitely keep an underwater rover busy, wrenches/ Marlinspikes, pocketknives, etc.

@@WW2HistoryHunter You need to get a small neodymium magnet and attach to the grabber arm. Will make the compass useless, but will allow you to go trawling for stuff. Bigger magnet with an attached line to drag back would also work, though with that you would be limited unless you attached a float.

Interesting to hear your were a Sonar operator on a U Boat.
My wife's Grandfather was a Asdic (Sonar) operator on HMS Keats (K482) during WW2 which was accredited with sinking U-1172 & U-285.
He spoke of the duels with the U boats playing cat and mouse waiting hours / days for the U Boats to break cover to try and escape.
When Germany surrendered he shared that he went with the ship to one of the U Boat pens to escort 3 surrendered U Boats and their crews to British waters.
As his role was no longer required he was part of the armed guard detail sent onboard one of the U Boats to ensure the crew did not scuttle the vessel.
He managed to get some small souvenirs from the crew including a typewriter!
    Keep up the great work.

Nice work. Couldn’t you drill holes in a strong bucket, weight it down, then drop it straight down to the to rest on the sea floor. Then the RUV could dump the finds into the bucket, and you could safely pull up the bucket with the finds.

German U Boats have always fascinated the hell out of me. I grew up around Chicago and I have seen and been in the Museum of Science and Industry U-505 exhibits more than a 100 times. It used to sit outside on Lake Michigan shore and now the stunning indoor exhibit it has now. I guess what amazes me most is the technology and construction of such an amazing machine in the 1930s and ear;y 40s. It just doesn't seem possible that this was something that could be designed and built back then and such a short amount of time. Only someone with a mechanical mind and aptitude would appreciate this when seeing one of these things, its more than just a war machine, even though that was its purpose. The Chicago U Boat is probably the only one in the world in this good of shape and could probably be relaunched and used. It is THAT good.

Another great action adventure of yours that I enjoyed very much! I have read and studied for 20 + years about the Kreigsmarine and Atlantik Schlact during WWII and this adventure of yours shows the practical realities of hunting for WWII artifacts with ROVs. I am long past my scuba diving days so an ROV is very interesting to me for searching for historical artifacts here in the USA. Thank you for what you do and your hard work and effort and excellent and entertaining presentations!

Well done. The only thing I could hear in my head was, "Scotty I need more power!!!" The Fifish doesn't have the thruster power for heavy objects plus the dynamic drag. We will talk later. I am wondering if they dumped overboard further from the quay. Still a great run for training. Stay safe and dry.

I love these underwater adventures. When you were trying to grab that plate, I was sitting here tell you to stop and calm down, then make a plan of attack. Even tho the items you recovered weren’t from WW2, it was a great way to discover how to operate the ROV for recovering artifacts. Your skills continue to improve. I would be going crazy if you pulled up a complete German military plate. It’s just mine boggling to me that there are complete plates out there were you wouldn’t expect them. Keep up the great work.

On a heavy chain to pull it full of stuff up with.

Wow great place and to have the photos of the u boats there your imagination brings a perspective on the whole video I bet that's frustrating to Manoeuvre in the ROV with all the silt being stured up but well worth trying to recover items you never no what will come up 😎 I hope that you find some fine items in the future you put so much into what you do and I love to see the Holly Madonna with your excitement stay safe my friend and will look forward to your next video 👍👍👍👍👍

Yes , the rov is actually easy to control , i think it is my brain that is getting slower and slower so it takes more time :) Thanks my friend and greetings from us.

it seems like it needs more powerful motors and grip strength to capture and haul up the different goodies you discover. it seems like a video game running that. thanks again!

You should put heavy soft rubber on the grabber so it can work.

well i have actually put some rubber glue on the pads and it seems to do the trick so far but will work more on this so thanks for tip :)

At the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, Illinois, in the United States, you can tour the U-505. You can go through the entire submarine. Very cool.

A another fun video. The only problem on a public harbor is there is 70 years of non-war junk dumped on top of any possible WW2 items. But its still good to look. You never know what you might find. Maybe a torpedo?

i enjoyed watching you wrangle the plate up . have you thought to perhaps put a rubber grip sleeve or something similar on your clamps to help grip and protect plates with getting them to the surface . another enjoyable video thanks muchly

Good to see and understand the struggles one must go through to find the historical proof, so sorry it was not a Kriegsmarine plate but hey, what a great practice anyway! Looking forward to the next episode!

You had me all tense up trying to get that plate. What a disappointment on the plate but you learned a lot on operating the ROV to retrieve items. Your hand have to be freezing pulling wet items out of harbor. Did the subs you were on use some of the old U boat bases? I think I figured out how so many plates are being found at these locations. The cooks weren’t very good so the soldiers threw out their plates with the food. lol

    • @WW2HistoryHunter
      @WW2HistoryHunter  2 года назад +1

Yes what a great explore that was. I did go to some of the old bases yes. I think that it was pretty typical just to throw or discard stuff into the ocean like that. Thanks.
