Yeah I feel like without a HoS or acting captain taking charge and coming up with a good counter offensive, the station's best interest would be to negotiate.
@@Liltenhead The situation I recall (on LRP admittedly) involved a Cargo Tech killing QM and holding the Captain hostage. It was wierdly a cadet that suggested negotiating but HoS ordered a charge, got blinded by their own flashbang and died. Damn as a veteran sec I still wouldn’t have negotiated but I would’ve at least tried something remotely clever. No flaming mice, locker push, suicide assistants, disposal rewire, plasma bomb, or anything other than rushing like 2 at a time. Hell they didn’t even throw in a simple sec gas bomb.
I remember someone took cap hostage on Delta V and it was a fucking mess, my coworker as a lawyer held captain hostage with bombs, laser guns, and a fucking turret in my office. Some moth guy waltzed up playing tough guy talking about rushing him, which, we said was stupid and dumb Then some random, not even security, tried to dismantle the turret, got killed, sec rushed, lots of bombs went off, place got spaced, captain decided to fire ALL of security and charge that moth dude with obstruction of justice and manslaughter but nothing came from those. Lesson of the day, don’t rush like an idiot, don’t play hero, and check in on your coworkers.
I was the incompetent syndie chemist this shift, I attribute part of my poor performance to ingesting a few vials of cryptobiolin prior to meeting you (the funny liquid everyone was drinking in the hallway). For the non-chemists, cryptobiolin causes you to change your words as well as make you talk like Yoda by messing with your sentence structure, but a lesser known effect is that it causes drunkenness. Magically pairing this with the lightweight drunk trait meant that for the majority of the shift, I was in a state of intoxication and couldn't see straight. Still, it was an honor being dumb by your side o7
The servers I play on cryptobillium also protects you from psionic shenanigans for a while. Very useful for nukies so you don't get mindswapped or put to sleep.
note for myself next time i play HoS, let cap rot just because i COULD have the chance to win against a synd because cap´s life is not worth one SMALL synd objective.
It's an unspoken rule of emergent storytelling. For every shift where it feels like nothing strange is happening, there's gonna be one where you bear witness to something crazy.
Ah yes, the classic route of crew letting the entire station die and command struture crumble to prevent greentext. they fought harder for the portal gun than most stations do when the nukies arm the bomb
I was the captain that shift, i wasn't expecting to become a negotiation tool. A shame the crew went the "we do not negotiate with terrorists" route.

The "we do not negotiate with terrorists" route is a server rule
