That was a great hunt love those mossy plume
Thanks for watching Keith!
Man, I wish you found more of that green layered jasper…That was a killer piece! Congrats on all the sweet finds!
Thanks Peter! I wish I had as well. I can hardly wait to get started with it.
Wow, Scott! Texas is beautiful and is now a bucket list location for me to rockhound! Thanks for taking us with you on your bountiful hunt!
Thanks for coming along Mike!
I have hunted all of the ranches that Teri goes to for almost 20 years now. The agates in Calamity Creek on the South Larremore Ranch come from vesicular basalt outcrops on the old Walker Ranch, a few miles north on the other side of the highway, which is now closed to collecting. :( If you get the chance, go to the Richie Ranch with Teri, and collect as many of the white/clear chalcedony nodules as you can find. Many will be stained and/or covered in dirt/moss and will require a thorough cleaning. Once cleaned hold up to a light and candle them. The Richie Ranch is known for amethyst and many of them will have purple centers. They are also good for helping to tumble other agates. Just toss a handful of them in with the other rocks.
Thanks so much for the feedback Joe, I appreciate it! I did hunt the Richie Ranch with Teri a couple of weeks ago, you can find that video in my lineup. Right now I have a bunch of the white chalcedony from there in the tumbler and I literally just processed them after 10 days in coarse grit. They are turning out great! I’ll have that video up in a few weeks so stay tuned…..
Another amazing adventure ❤❤❤
Thanks for coming along Jeannie!😁
That was a fun hunt, you did well! I can’t wait to see how you finish these up👍
Thanks Brian! I hope to get started with the cutting soon.
The Jasper near the end that is red and green, wow, great find!! Cant believe how many agates there are in that place, its loaded!
It was a blast to spend a few hours there hunting, that’s for sure. Thanks for watching!
That second rock you picked up at the beginning most definitely looks like it came from a worked biface. Wow....great finds. It is obvious you have to know what you are looking for. I would have walked right over most of those. Great finds.
Thank you Wayne, and thanks for watching!
Great video! You found some fantastic stuff. Nice to see what kind of stuff to expect when we head out there!
Thanks! It is lots of fun out there. Good luck! I’m going back in a couple of weeks as well 🤞.
Thanks for showing us the current state of the Larremore ranch. It looks like you were hunting in the bed of Calamity Creek or one of its tributaries. The last time we were there, 3/21, there had been a long drought and we were totally skunked. We hunted areas with only very small gravel. Since that time there have been several big rains and floods on Calamity Creek that turned over much of the gravel in the creek bed. I have seen some very nice plume agate from recent finds. In the past, over 10 years ago, I hunted ancient gravel bars that parallel the creek. The paleo Indians got all the best stuff on those, based on the abundance of flaked pieces I found.
I just went through all of my Larremore finds and I did better than I originally thought. It will be fun to start cutting some of them. I would definitely go back!
Nice finds!
Thanks! It was a glorious day for hounding.
Some nice finds, even if small. I'm surprised you didn't find any pet wood. There was a lot of it when I was there last year.
I was bummed about that because I was told there was some down there. Maybe next time…….😁
How in the world do you control yourself!? Heaven!! 😊
I was a kid in a candy store 😁. Thanks for watching!
Great finds! I have so little green material where I am.
I’m a big fan of green rocks as well. Hopefully they will polish nicely 🤞.
A good set of videos. The only thing I wish you had added was more panoramic videos of the land, to give people an idea what the countryside looks like. Also, where are your gloves and your gem scoop!
Thanks Stephen! I hate watching my videos back because I always find things I wish I had done differently 😩. I don’t use a scoop but I normally wear gloves. I didn’t the last two hunts because they were messing with my control of my phone camera 😆. Thanks for watching!
That mossy, plummy, agates are the greatesr!!!
Agreed! Thanks for watching Susan!
