How Well Will it Tumble? - Possibly Picture Jasper
Просмотров 25114 часов назад
This nice looking chunk of rock appears to be picture jasper. It’s already been used for slabs so what else should we do with it? I know, tumble it!
Slabbing a Stunning and Rare Woodward Ranch Agate
Просмотров 7142 часа назад
This is an “old stock” Woodward Ranch agate. The ranch was known to have spectacular rock hounding, but that was before I got involved in the sport. I’m glad I got my hands on this specimen because it is beautiful!

The Agate Guessing Game - Volume 5

If you’re playing along at home you know how tough this game can be. For this 5th installment I try my best to guess what will be inside of five West Texas rocks. I hope you do better than me!😁
How Well Will it Tumble? - Mysterious Green Rock

This was a fun tumble. Even after the many weeks of transformation I still have no idea what this rock is! Whatever it is I like it.

This big agate showed lots of potential out in the field when I first discovered it. Once the slabbing started the truth was revealed……..
Slab to Cab - Colorful West Texas Agate
Просмотров 73912 часов назад
I’ll never forget how excited I was when I cut this slab! It was from a rock I purchased from Teri Smith in Alpine Texas. The slab is colorful and intricate looking. What will the cabochon look like?

How Well Will it Tumble? - Hovey Road Agate
Просмотров 41416 часов назад
Here’s a typical West Texas agate that I found along Hovey Road near Alpine. It looks like a just plain chunk of chalcedony but what will the tumble reveal?
Face Polishing a “Tenderloin” Agate - Featuring “The Do Over” 😁
Просмотров 53216 часов назад
Tell me this West Texas agate doesn’t look like a delicious pork tenderloin! Kendra asked me to put a face polish on it, which I did. At first it was not so great, so………..

The definition of a photo finish, this round could easily go either way! Do you agree with the judges choice?
How Well Will it Tumble? - Colorado Yard Petrified Wood

Check out this good looking rock that Kendra found in her yard. There must have been a lapidarian living there in the past because we found lots of cool rocks like this scattered about. Do you think it will take good shine?

How Well Will it Tumble? - Average Rio Grande River Rock
Beautiful polish and deep details
Great t-shirt idea! "I'm no geologist!" Lol. Jaspers are awesome.
Do you think I should patent it?😆
@@spwinaustin for sure!
Superb polish!
Thank you bud!
Both great! Kendra's agate for the win!🎉
She had the prettier agate, no doubt about it 😏.
I was going to name yours “Gray matter” until you got it in good light…Kendra still rules.
Gray matter 😂
Yup, not even good light could put mine on top!😩
i judged. 😅😂 kendra is the winner.
You got that right!😆
Kendra is the winner
Yup, once again she kicked my a*%#!!😆
That's some beautiful stuff!
Thanks Rob, I’m glad you think so! Keep up the great work, I love watching your videos 😁
They both should have been left where you found them!
My motto is “No rocks left behind”!😆
If you had filled the pits with PaleoBond filler it would look a lot better.
Thanks for the suggestion Stephen!
Lots of porosity in this one. I would have ignored it.
I just love the color and pattern on it so I could not pass it up 😁. Thanks for watching!
Very nice. How are you sure this is from the Woodward? Did you get it from some one who collected it? I am saying this because identical agates can be found in Chihuahua, New Mexico and California.
Thanks! The person I got it from actually collected it themselves at the ranch. It was an older member of the AGMS.
rất đẹp!thích thật
Thanks so much for watching!
Nice potato!
🤣
My best potato yet!😆
I had some picture Jasper years ago it turned out so good people took it away 😢
That’s a bummer!😥
Agree - looks like dried daisies. Beautiful and can’t wait to see what you make of it!
Thank you for the feedback Michele!
Wow! Gotta see tumbled bits and cabs of that!!!
I would love to see that as well! Hopefully soon…..🤞
Hmmm. You could make a series of matching round cabs for a bracelet. Would look like pressed flowers under glass
Thanks for the cool suggestion Linda!
One rock bat 🦇 looks like a nutty dark chocolate bat 🦇. Oh! There are two of them!
Thanks, now I’m craving a candy bar!😆
I thought Woodward ranch was closed.
It is.
Yup, definitely for rock hounding. Thankfully there are other ranches in the area that let us hunt.
I'll be waiting to see a finished cabochon from this agate!
I hope to get one done soon 🤞. Thanks as always for watching!
That’s real nice Scott 😎
Thanks, I’m glad you liked it! It was a pretty awesome agate for sure.
Kendra for sure. Looks like little starbursts in hers. Love that.
She definitely had the better rock 😁. Thanks for watching!
Gourgeous!
Thanks, I’m glad you liked it!
That is one beautiful rock! I wish I was around in that era of rockhounding as well!
Wouldn’t that have been great?!?! Oh well, we at least have the Kokernot.
kendra wins. me judged big time today. lol
Fair enough, thanks for your ruling!😆
Nice, definitely close.
A nail biter for sure!😆
Cathedral Agate, pretty rare.
I agree, this looks a lot like the Cathedral Agate from Chihuahua, Mexico!
It was definitely a cool agate. Thanks for watching!
Epic flower agate!
I’m glad you liked it Mike!
This one is a coin flipper to decide!
It’s tough being the judge!😆
2, 3 & 5 are great!
Thanks for watching Susan! 3 out of 5 ain’t bad 😆
Those bottie ones are full of surprises…usually. I have been cutting some pieces from AZ that I did not know what to do with but after cutting they look to be great face polishing candidates.
I agree, I love cutting into bots! Definitely some of the most interesting patterns can be found there. Good luck with yours Peter!
Now for the tumbler
Exactly!😆 Keep an eye out for that video 😉
That turned out absolutely gorgeous.
Thank you so much for watching!
The white fossily oval shaped area reminds me of horn coral fossils I find.
I can see that. Thanks for pointing out!😁
Urs win❤like a river through the swamp(?dont know if the word is right but u know, wet area where is land here and there or some vegetation and it can be dangerous coz u can drown there.. Hope u understand what i mean😂😂)
I think I gather your reference 😁
We have a lot of green rocks around Lake Superior. Green is good 😊
I’ve heard great things about your rocks up there!
@@spwinaustin They are quite good.
Very dark!
I wish it had been lighter in color but what can you do 🤷♂️
It looks like a dark mossy agate 🤔
Agreed
After polishing I think I agree with your assessment 😁.
@@spwinaustin did I win something!!! 🤣
Very nice!!
Thanks Amanda!
You got this one.
It was good to finally win one 😆
U win👍😍
Thanks, it was bound to happen!😆
I'm going with Scott's on this one.
Thank you James!
you win mr. scott. i judged. lol.
Thank you your honor!😁
Close one Scott. 👍🏻🙌🏻
They were both interesting but I had to give myself the victory 😁!
A beautiful stone, for sure. When you initially opened the two halves to show the camera… I couldn’t help but see an oyster!
I can definitely see it now 😆. Thank you for watching Wayne!
Very dense but still pretty I can appreciate it. I think with a very strong backlight it can still be really pretty.
Thanks for the encouragement! It definitely could look a lot better with done back lighting.
trash
Yup, definitely not a good rock 😥. Thanks for watching!😁
As far as using for lapidary, not much there.
😥
Looks good but that coarse stuff is a bit of a bummer 😊
Yup, I was definitely disappointed when I first cut into it 🥲
@@spwinaustin you never know.
