@@jackjax7921 What could they even do to make this DLC harder? Everything is so scripted, the enemies are already bullet sponges on hardcore with barely any reaction to bullets. Crafting is rather pointless since there's more than enough ammo when you are just avoiding most of the enemies anyway.
hate to be that guy, but the planter at 45:40 has an herb another thing too i was looking at was after getting the Triocular Key, one could go through the library again to get to the piano area, then get the shotgun after the sclerotia puzzle after getting teleported. exiting and reentering rooms, as you've probably figured out, jankily resets enemies to an easily manipulable initial position. you got some good stun ability placement imma use though. one thing I'm doing is saving a charge on the enemy right before the sclerotia after getting the monocular key because that guy stumbles forward without fail and you can just walk past him.
- Yeah, I don't know why I forgot to pick up that herb. I was distracted by those two guys being out of place. I realized later in the run by checking the map but no way in hell I would backtrack all the way there lol. - For the library route, I thought about that, since the courtyard is kinda awkward, but do the 5 enemies in the library despawn? - True, that enemy seems to always stumble. I didn't play this DLC enough but I realized I always ended up with so many ability refills, so I could probably use a lot more throughout the run. In retrospect, I should have used a few more in the giant boss fight to make it faster in the first two phases.
The difference between these two guys is that Aether is a God in his runs and you can't replicate him... But Carci is a prophet who guides you and you can replicate him by practice.
1:12:01 For a DLC, the moments that followed gave me shivers lol. Was a little more difficult than I expected at first, especially when you had to deal with all 4 of them.
couple more things: before you burn off the final sclerotia, there is one more piece of sage to the left of the handgun bullets. lastly, the bullet hell attack at 1:54:21 can be interrupted by a megamycete tentacle
About the counterattack, I knew about it. Almost every attack can be interrupted if she's exposed and within range. But that's the only cool attack in the fight and I wanted to showcase how to dodge it normally.

I think the dlc was okay. Rose story was meh, not providing much story wise and a lot of reused assets. The mercenaries additions were good, but it’s a shame this version of mercenaries isn’t as good as past iterations. Just finished my hardcore run yesterday, gonna try third person VOS eventually. Great stuff as always Aether!
My thoughts were pretty similar. Overall, the package is okay. But this story mode was a little disappointing to me honestly, especially as a conclusion to the Winters family story. The Beneviento house segment was interesting and surprising but everything else didn't really do justice.
I believe they wasted most production time having us go through Belladonna house (despite the fact those dolls caught me off guard when you don't look at them) but they could have added a little bit more to the dlc. Not super long but just a tiny bit.
*I also finished the DLC for RE: Village, Shadows Of Rose, what a weird a$$ story and a final conclusion to the Winters family saga, two days ago. Once again... they refused to show Ethan Winters face, it looks so incredibly forced also way too awkward in cutscenes. Very lustlacker, the main character moves like a slob which makes it harder to bypass enemies that have a higher agility than you as well aiming at their weak spots or land clear shots at them, not much content to go around for a boring afternoon weekday, stuff is being reused. Rose is basically going through the same things as Ethan, but it's a lot shorter this time around four hours, ("but you managed to beat it in two hours, two minutes, sixteen seconds"), FANTASTIC WORK!!* *🔥🥧🎃 Anyways... enough of me ranting, Happy Early Halloween Aether / Bether! 🎃🥧🔥*
I feel like they put too much emphasis on the bad outdated survival horror practices in the castle. Those enemies are Moroaica reskins, were bullet sponges, moved way too fast, only had one attack, awkward AI and movement… the abilities in the castle have little to no creativity. The boss is an Urias reskin. I cannot believe Capcom was saying this is more difficult than the main game. The dollhouse was a pleasant surprise to me in both story and gameplay. It’s better than its version in the main campaign which was already good. I think a 7 out of 10 is still too much. With that being said, the whole DLC package has enough content quality to justify its price in my opinion.
When I first heard of this coming out my first reaction was are you kidding it's about Ethan's dumb daughter Rose, oh well yeah I really do like her now after finally playing 7 and coming to like the Winters family. But I just wished they would have brought the Lords back or something, not just stupid Miranda. The only scary part was the Mia dolls. And yeah I forgot they brought the Duke back, being evil and shit. I also thought this was going to be a Revelations 2 wanna be. Not bad dlc but Crapcom needs to stop milking it. The only good thing about 8 was Lady D, the daughters and Donna. Not looking forwards to 9 unless it has new characters, screw the remake characters, hate them.
I just beat this DLC on Hardcore, No Damage, No Crafting on a practice run. It's definitely understandable why you did the No Crafting restriction because of how much time you spend running past enemies and using exploits. And about this DLC, this was overall a very crappy DLC, minus Miranda's Boss fight. That was a pretty good final boss fight. I would honestly give this dlc a 1.5/10 or a 2/10. I already knew going into this DLC that New Capcom were going to drop the ball, but I didn't think it would be this bad. I can't people there are so many people praising this DLC and calling it amazing. It reuses so many environments from the main game, it has a pitiful enemy diversity and the enemies that are there are so barebones and so basic as to be below the qualifications for basic, there is no story being told in this DLC, it doesn't clarify any of the lore established in RE7 and Village, it's so throwaway in so many ways, it delivers a really poor attempt at survival horror (yet people say this qualifies as pure survival horror which baffles me to no end), etc. I can't wait to get to my walkthrough and do the commentary because I am going to rain fire on these developers.
The "no crafting" restriction was natural, since there was no need to craft anything, like you said. I made a community post about how I was disappointed because it was underwhelming for me as well. I only liked Beneviento house section, because the puzzles had some creativity in the storytelling with Rose's backstory, also how they tied it to Eveline. The doll chase was also very creepy and a more engaging gameplay compared to the baby section in the campaign. That whole section was very atmospheric and enjoyable for me. Miranda's fight was when the abillities started to show some potential. The fight was okay but it was still a bit simplistic for me, the dodges and counterattacks were way too generous. It had potential to be a much more challenging fight but it felt unfinished. I also found the whole ending very silly story-wise as well, it was hard to take anything seriously with how everything played out. The castle was definitely the most disappointing section because they opted to go for an outdated survival horror formula and even at that it didn't do well for me since the map was too simple and linear, the enemies were all reused, very easy to handle, it was easy to make use of exploits, and the supplies were plentiful (not to mention crafting).
@@Aether2125 I'd have to agree with all your points aside from Miranda. The fight was fine the way it was and it could have been worse had they made any changes. The castle was definitely the worst part of the DLC. There wasn't a single moment that was good, inspiring, or interesting. The outdated survival horror designs felt even more outdated here. Beneviento's section honestly felt worse for me at the start with the unoriginal, Dr. Who weeping angel dolls. Sneaking past those dolls when Rose was tiny was kinda interesting for me. Eveline being in this DLC had no weight to it, not to mention it adds a lot of confusion as to how she's even in the Megamycete. She provides no impact in the finale. If you removed Eveline from the DLC, nothing would change. This entire DLC just felt like a ripoff, and is clearly catered towards speedrunning and nothing else.
@@idi-jq6cj I'm unaware of the Dr Who reused concept. Either way, I think it was still okay (they borrow a lot of concepts from other series too), they managed to make that dool really creepy and the solution to that sequence wasn't all that obvious. It required you to actually think a little. I always prefer those types of puzzles where there is a more engaging gameplay with some risks involved instead of a static solution you have to figure out only in the first playthrough. I think Eveline added a nice dynamic with the concept of family: all she ever wanted was to have a family that loved her and it's exactly what Ethan represents to Rose. It also led to that nice moment where you go to Ethan's house which was probably one of the best moments in the DLC. It was cool how they played with us by making us think the twisted game was made by Donna/Angie but it was actually Eveline (funnier since they share the same voice actor).
