Hello. Happy Beautiful 16th Anniversary. 💐🍾🥂. A video what it meant married in different cultures. I am from Filipino, Chinese, Spanish heritage and some, growing up in Oahu , they call us “potlucks” in the 80s meaning we came from different nations or countries! One thing for sure that I’ve learn from my ancestors is love, respect and honesty where I shared with my children. No swearing in my household also but freedom of expression is fine because I would like them to share what’s inside of their hearts and minds! I am a “potluck” American, lol 😂 it’s a normal sense of humor in our family. 6 generations from WW1, WW2,till today we’d contribute one in every family to join and serve in the military (family tradition). We didn’t force our children but they know how important this tradition to continues. Anyways, love your family especially the boys who have big personalities. Our family is full of jokers, some are comedians, singers, dancers in professions but majority are in medical fields like our oldest is a radiologist. Thanks for sharing your video, love and hugs to all. God bless! 🙏❤️🤗
HAPPY WEDDING ANNIVERSARY TO BOTH OF YOU. There is a nursing home in the Philippines, but they called it "Home for the Age". There are not that many and it is for elderly who do not have children or a family member that are willing to take care of them. Stay safe and God bless.
Happy Anniversary to the both of uou!!! My sister and I share caring for our 92 year old Mom. We never thought of putting our parents in a care facility.
In the Philippines, respect to the elders is a Pilipino custom that is by far unmatched by any culture except by the Japanese people. Other cultures consider blood relatives as cousins but in the Philippines is different. For example, my parents siblings and cousins are considered elders regardless of age. I have aunts that are much younger than me and I have to respect them as such. Also I have what you may call grand nephews and grand nieces that are much older than me and they will call me uncle. And as you already noticed that older people than you are called kuyas and ates. Also people the same age as your mother are called Tita or nanay and those the same age as your father Tito or tatay. RESPECT to the elders is the norm. Please enjoy and stay happy in the Philippines.
Thanks for the insight Michael. Yes, I have notice that about Japanese culture as well. Maybe Hispanic culture has something similar to some degree. They use the word 'usted' to address their elders.
It is great to see and hear positive things from being married to a Filipino. Our dishes were also from the Spanish during their colonization of our country and there are still more from every province. I was born, grew up in Manila but now living in Naga City Camarines Sur Bicol for 16 years now and can say that traditions, cultures and dishes varies.
PROUD OF YOU EMBRACING THE PILIPINO CULTURE , ITS MORE FUN IN THE PHILIPPINES 🇵🇭. ANYWAY HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO BOTH OF YOU AND GOD BLESS YOUR FAMILY AS WELL 🇵🇭🇺🇸
My first time to watch your video and I enjoyed it. I am a Filipino Registered Nurse here in TX and I appreciate everything Filipino you have acquired from your Filipino husband. I admire him for having instilled in you and for having raised your kids the Filipino way. I have been living here in the US for a long time but I haven’t forgotten my Filipino background and my Filipino values and my kids who are all professionals still observe the Fil values. You will never regret raising your kids the Filipino way.
Hi Dinia! Thank you for the nice compliment! I will extend the thanks to him as well. It's good to carry on those values and morals. I'm curious whereabout are you in Texas? Our best friends are from Pearland and one of them is also an RN.
Even kids that are “not all professionals” still adhere to Filipino values as long as their parents taught them that. Typical Filipino mom here, has to mentioned “all professionals” haha!
I can relate to what you are experiencing back home because my wife is 1/2 Pilipino and Mexican and I'm purong Pinoy, so far so good with regards to relationship and of course some bumpy rides along the way. She was born in SoCal but was brought to PI when she was young for 18 years so she got most of the Pilipino way of life with some exemptions. We were together for 39 years and no regret what so ever and you can can do it too. Buenas suerte mija.
We have a high regard on Sundays as a family day. After we go to mass, we sometimes gathers and eat together with closest family/relatives. The joyful anticipation of Christmas starts with the decoration of the houses and public places on September and ends on February. We have the longest Christmas celebration here. And also during "Misa de Gallo/Misa de Aguinaldo" ,we have to wake up as early as 3am to attend the mass and after that, we eat traditional "kakanin" like puto bungbong, suman, sikwate, etc.
Kudos to you and your family..I’m Filipino man and married to my wife who’s Mexican American from Cali. with two kids..married for 15 years..thanks for the video.
Hopefully there wouldn't be so much adjustments needed to be done on your part, when you're married to a Filipino, you're marrying a race which has been infused with multi-cultural influences. Spanish and American, which are so much your very own, being the most dominant ones, deeply imbedded in every Filipino character traits. Lucky you!
It's a blending of Mexican, Spanish, Chinese and Indigenous. American influence is only in the language not the customs which is entirely HISPANIC Mexican in origin. The woman should know these customs exist in Mexico because they're the ones who brought it to the Philippines.I suspect she's not to familiar with Mexican traditions since she's probably a 3rd gen Chicana.
If you didn't know yet just in case, not all Spanish influence on the Philippines came directly from Spain but through Mexico because of the Manila-Acapulco galleon trade. Some aspects of Mexican customs, cuisine, words, etc were introduced to the Philippines. Example - they have the same currency name and some words like camote, chico, calabaza, etc
TIL the words "nanay" and "tatay" were borrowed from Nahuatl, an ancient Mexican language. and mexico I've red that their tequila was influenced by tuba(coconut wine) of Philippines but they use types of cactus.. and civeche of latin America was influenced by kilawin from Philippines..
In Manila there is a small park named plaza Mexico, there is 3 monuments in honor to Mexico it is a few yards away from immigration offices in intramuros, the Mexicans also helped philippines fight the Japanese in the battle of Luzon.
I’m so proud of your family. Happy anniversary! I wish and pray for many more anniversaries to come. God bless your family. From a proud Fil-Am here in San Diego.

Well, it's really happy and nice to hear a foreign national wife married to a Filipino husband having their children grown up in Filipino ways ...Indeed our culture centered on love of family, high regard and respect to our elders....but ofcourse like every families in the world...there is no perfect family at all...but generally I would say Filipinos have a very distinct character from other nationalities in terms of family relations, values and culture! like what we have been taught in our early learning ages...CHILDREN ARE THE HOPE OF OUR FUTURE...we must teach our children to become good parents, professionals, workers and leaders for our future generations...I wish your family Good Luck and God Bless! Happy 16th Wedding Anniversary!
Thank you for watching! We definitely want the boys to experience many cultures and see different values and customs. Salamat and ingat ‘til next time ✌🏼
Respect to you both. I love all couples who make their marriage work regardless of what culture you come from. I will tell I have known many Filipinos and their families and they are really respectful and kind to all people and yes family is very important and I give all the respect in the world for taking care of the elders. The company I work here in Washington State is about 50 to 60% Filipinos and I enjoy working with all of them. I have learned quite a bit of Tagalog over the 16 years at work.
Happy 16th! I have always enjoyed your vlogs because they are so relatable. Oh, by the way, the blessing of the pets is also practiced here in the States in commemoration of the feast of St Francis of Assisi. His ministry was dedicated to the underprivileged and for his love of animals. It is celebrated during the first week of October. 😊
Thank you po! I believe our church back in California also offered pet blessings in the first weekend in October. It was nice to see it is common here in 🇵🇭 too.

Thank you for sharing your background. It gives better context to your vlog. The kids are just adorable. They remind me of my son when he was their age. He's now an adult and so I miss those times. They would probably enjoy Le Petite Chef at the Hyatt there in BGC. At least for the experience of it. Oh, and your Filipino spaghetti looks so good it makes me drool.
Happy anniversary! Glad that you all enjoying the life in philippines, im planning as well to buy condo in bgc( once i retired)it might be little expensive but its more handy and accessible. Hope to see more of your 2 boys food critics 😁( their so good). Stay blessed from irelsnd.
Hi La Vida. I am a Filipino married to a Filipina and currently living in New Jersey, USA. Im your new subscriber and i really hope your family enjoy your stay in the Philippines. Take care and God bless.
I grew up in the U.S. but my family comes from Panay, negros, and Mindanao, and we raise our voices all the time-especially when trying to communicate with someone outside the house. I’ve also heard adults cursing in their visayan dialect on many occasions. Visayan practices might be different from Tagalog or manners in the province might be different from the city. I also don’t like Filipino spaghetti and won’t eat it, and my relatives don’t take offense. But I will agree that it would be an affront to your Filipino host if you don’t eat anything served. I’m Filipino American and my wife is Irish-Swedish-German American, and we’ve been married for 32 years and have 5 children. We are both practicing Catholics so most religious aspects of Filipino tradition is well appreciated.

The period of adjustment does not only applies to a newly married couple. To have a successful married life, as long as as you are both together as husband & wife both of you will always adjust forever
I'm Canadian and married to a Pinay whom I met at UBC in the course of our graduate studies, and blessed with a daughter. Simply put, she's a loving, highly responsible wife and mother to our daughter. Can't ask for more.
I always thought Mexican/Filipino couples would not have a problem because you'll both likely be Roman Catholics and have culturally innate respect and love for family, but your video made me rethink that; there are quite a few differences after all. 😁 I'm glad to see how your marriage has worked out well. Thanks for your video, I enjoyed it. 😀
Yes they are quite similar but I think that the “American side” of my upbringing definitely made some of the differences more apparent to us both. It’s been a really interesting experience so far and I look forward to a lifetime together ☺️
imo Mexicans and Filipinos are a very natural pairing since our ethnicities have a lot of similarities. mostly because both countries were part of Spain for so long and there was always regular trade going back and forth. my Mom is mestiza Filipina and in California EVERYONE spoke Spanish to her before English
Yes, we can definitely relate to each other because of the similarities in our backgrounds. Many people have spoken Spanish to my husband as well, but I actually never saw or felt like he looked Hispanic.
My two super fave places in "Manila" are Makati and BGC in Taguig. I was surprised to hear that you've been married for 16 years already! Both of you look young. Congrats and enjoy Pilipinas! :)

Your Pinoy husband must be lucky for an American wife who takes pain adapting to a new asian life, and culture, taking care of household and even cooking lots of Filipino food.
I really watched till end and appreciate how you embraced our culture, and yes younger siblings can not call older siblings their names, it is impolite to the filipino culture. Younger siblings should call their big brother "kuya and Ate for big sister.

I THINK YELLING DOES HAPPEN JUST THAT FOR THE MOST PART IT HAPPENS IN THE NOT SO AFFLUENT FAMILIES. IF YOU GO TO POOR AREAS IN MANILA YELLING AT KIDS IS JUST A NORMAL THING. IF YOU LIVE IN UPPER MIDDLE CLASS SUBDIVISION THE SURROUNDING IS USUALLY QUIET!.... HAPPY ANNIVERSARY 💕
Aha! That’s good to know, unfortunately I still have my moments when I have to raise my own voice at them. Hopefully we can grow out of that together 😉
Kuya should make his youtube channel about all the fast food and restaurants reviews in the Philippines that we in the states don't have access to. Happy anniversary 🎉
Ma" am you forgot the "tabo" every Pinoy bathroom / cr has one we use that for "buhos " in taking a bath, and at mealtimes don't ever drop a spoon or a fork coz there might be a visitor coming, and we don't sweep the dirt of the floor outside the door at nighttime becoz good luck may come out of the house.
Yes nearly every bathroom has one… we actually do not have them and I never noticed any at my in-laws house either but maybe they didn’t keep that in the guest bathrooms 😉 thank you so much for watching and sharing your family traditions with us!

God bless! 🙏❤️🤗
I love that term “potluck” 🥰 thank you so much for watching the channel and sharing your comment!
@@LLVT you’re very welcome! 🙏❤️🤗🇺🇸
HAPPY WEDDING ANNIVERSARY TO BOTH OF YOU.
There is a nursing home in the Philippines, but they called it "Home for the Age". There are not that many and it is for elderly who do not have children or a family member that are willing to take care of them. Stay safe and God bless.
Thank you for sharing this information! I bet the boys would like to go there and visit sometime.
Happy Anniversary to the both of uou!!! My sister and I share caring for our 92 year old Mom. We never thought of putting our parents in a care facility.
Thank you for taking great care of her! I’m sure she loves being with her family 🥰
Not the japanese. They leave their elders behind to die alone. You can watch videos about it.
I bet they differ from region to region and provinces for sure. Thank you so much for watching and ingat ‘til next time ✌🏼
PROUD OF YOU EMBRACING THE PILIPINO CULTURE , ITS MORE FUN IN THE PHILIPPINES 🇵🇭. ANYWAY HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO BOTH OF YOU AND GOD BLESS YOUR FAMILY AS WELL 🇵🇭🇺🇸
Salamat po and Happy New Year!
Happy 16th wedding anniversary. May your marriage be blessed with love and joy for all the years of your lives.
Thank you!
Are you single or married
@@LLVTI used to live in Houston but last October, I moved here in Manvel, which is just outside Houston. Pearland is just close by.
Congratulations Ron to you and your wife. We're not perfect. It's always a work in progress. Thank you! ❤️
It’s such a beautiful tradition and holiday season! I am really looking forward to embracing it while we are here in the Philippines 🇵🇭
Kudos to you and your family..I’m Filipino man and married to my wife who’s Mexican American from Cali. with two kids..married for 15 years..thanks for the video.
Kudos to you and your family as well! Thank you so much for watching and ingat ‘til next time ✌🏼
Hopefully there wouldn't be so much adjustments needed to be done on your part, when you're married to a Filipino, you're marrying a race which has been infused with multi-cultural influences. Spanish and American, which are so much your very own, being the most dominant ones, deeply imbedded in every Filipino character traits. Lucky you!
They seem very minor to me now but when we first got married it was quite an adjustment. Thank you so much for watching!
I never like illegal alien and Trump was right Mexico dump their worst in America with the criminals and drugs pouring from Mexico
Very interesting! Thank you for sharing 😊
In the Philippines, there is a town named Mexico. It’s located in the province of Pampanga.
@@liliareg5653 I live in Angeles city pampanga, Mexico is about 30 - 40 minutes away from Angeles city.
Hello! It is not about nationality, it is LOVE.❤️
Love is love!
I would never love an illegal alien they are a plague to America like the Made in China virus
Love is GOD, not us🙏❤️‼️
Than you for embracing our Filipino culture. God bless you more and your whole family

Respectable way to say "YES " , " Oo" in TAGALOG language
& has 3 levels such as:
* OO - for peers
* OHO - for older adult
* OPO - for elders
GOD BLESS
Thank you so much for sharing ☺️
Here's an idea for content. And it's your idea. Give us a background of the restaurant and business owners at BGC, like what you did here. This will help think if I should just start a business there. And it will help Filipinos think they can also do it. Happy anniversary!
I love it! We try to get info if we can and if it’s available. We’re hoping to meet up with some folks eventually like we did with chef reina and chef Wayne in past vlogs. It’s really nice to meet the people who are making things happen 😉
It is very important for a Filipino family to have meal together..because that's our way to have a bonding , talk bout the things that happening with the family members..
Hi there! Yes, very true. We rarely skip meals together. It's a way for us to continue to strengthen our bonds.
Happy Anniversary, been an avid fan and have been enjoying how you enjoy the Philippines.
Thank you so much!
Wow!! Happy 16th wedding anniversary!!Congratulations! We love your family!!
Maybe we don’t say it much but we are so proud of you and your beautiful family for currently living in the Philippines. From the bottom of our hearts thank you so much for coming over to be closer to us your loyal subscribers who love you and your family so much!! You have a great family! Kuya is so intelligent with reviewing all the foods that you take! Just like the mom! I know the adjustment won’t be easy also with the kids being in a new country.
Pls keep making your great vlogs so as to entertain us and also so that we will be updated with your family.
Stay safe and God bless!
Hi Raymund! What an unexpected write up! 😊 I really don't know what to say other than thank you so much! My husband and I only visited Philippines one time in 2019 and that was a life-changing moment for us. Three years later...were here! And thank you for the nice compliment with the rest of the fam. ❤️❤️
I enjoyed your comments and letting others understand our Filipino cultures and way of life. Appreciated this video.
Thank you so much for watching ❤️
Filipino celebrations, so many foods. Sharing feast with family, friends and neighbors. They will always invite you to eat. Make the food always a pleasant experience and wonderful memory with people.
Hi Mary J. Food is such a big part of our lives. It's more than sustenance for many families like ours. It's about relationships and culture. ❤️
I am appreciative so much of your total acceptance and integration into the Filipino Culture. You are one of a kind. God bless you and your family.
Thank you so much for the sweet compliment ☺️

Happy 16th Wedding Anniversary to a lovely couple…..Here’s to another100 more years🎉🎂🎁🥂🙏🏼
Thank you so much! Hundreds of years 😉😂
Well, it's really happy and nice to hear a foreign national wife married to a Filipino husband having their children grown up in Filipino ways ...Indeed our culture centered on love of family, high regard and respect to our elders....but ofcourse like every families in the world...there is no perfect family at all...but generally I would say Filipinos have a very distinct character from other nationalities in terms of family relations, values and culture! like what we have been taught in our early learning ages...CHILDREN ARE THE HOPE OF OUR FUTURE...we must teach our children to become good parents, professionals, workers and leaders for our future generations...I wish your family Good Luck and God Bless! Happy 16th Wedding Anniversary!
Thank you for watching! We definitely want the boys to experience many cultures and see different values and customs. Salamat and ingat ‘til next time ✌🏼
Tina is a good conversationalìst deserves to be vlogging thats its fun to watch the boys are becoming handsome charming
Thank you so much!
I love the 2 boys their just so sweet and loving … and respectful! Not to mention they’re pogi!!
Thank you so much! Stay warm up there in WA 😊
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY FIL-AMERICAN FAMILY GOD BLESS!!!
Salamat po!
Happy anniversary may wife and I are 28 years in our marraige in God help and mercy going strong thanks for your comment to Filipino culture may God bless your family congrats for your wedding anniversary any kind people are welcome to our beloved country
Thank you so much and cheers 🥂 to you as well!
Happy Anniversary to both of you and don't forget to teach the filipino language to your sons so they could communicate easily during gatherings.👍👍👍👍
Hi Eric! We're trying. We watch a lot of Filipino tv and movies these days. All of our family speaks English to our kids 😅
There wont be anything different being married to a Filipino man because you are a Mexican who share almost the same values and tradition that is why you are the perfect fit.Congrats to both of you and regards to your family in Mexico. Hope they can visit you in the Philippines one day.
Happy Wedding Anniversary! God Bless your marriage and your family!
Thank you so much!
Hi Dephne! We have not been to any of the Hyatt restaurants here yet, but it's on the list. Thanks for the nice compliment on my cooking skills lol. 🥰

Hello po 👋🏼 thank you so much for watching! We hope you are enjoying the channel ☺️
Hey guys, nice to see you back n smiling.
Thank you so much!
I love your insights so true, and the video editing is awesome too. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO BOTH OF YOU!
Thank you so much! Kudos to my husband for the editing 😊
Thank you for sharing and for watching the channel! Cheers to a long and happy marriage 🥂
New subscriber here originally from Long Beach, CA. I am currently planning my move to SE Asia in January, so your vlogs have been very helpful. I really like your carefree vlogging style and your family is awesome! Congratulations to you and your husband on your anniversary!
Hi mlrusell1! Thanks for nice compliment! We really do try to provide a great deal of transparency here. We realize that we have a lot of viewers that are wanting to move here from the states. Blessed anniversary to both of you, thanks for sharing your personal opinion about Filipino culture.
Thank you so much!
Glad to hear that your very happy with your filipino husband..actuallly we are very kindness and our hospitality is also amzing
He makes my heart very happy 🥰
The period of adjustment does not only applies to a newly married couple. To have a successful married life, as long as as you are both together as husband & wife both of you will always adjust forever
I'm Canadian and married to a Pinay whom I met at UBC in the course of our graduate studies, and blessed with a daughter. Simply put, she's a loving, highly responsible wife and mother to our daughter. Can't ask for more.
Thank you for sharing this wisdom! It’s always work but everyday is worth it. 😊
Welcome to the Philippines. Congratulations to you both on your anniversary.
Thank you!
imo Mexicans and Filipinos are a very natural pairing since our ethnicities have a lot of similarities. mostly because both countries were part of Spain for so long and there was always regular trade going back and forth. my Mom is mestiza Filipina and in California EVERYONE spoke Spanish to her before English
Yes, we can definitely relate to each other because of the similarities in our backgrounds. Many people have spoken Spanish to my husband as well, but I actually never saw or felt like he looked Hispanic.
your husband is handsome and you are beautiful, God bless your family🥰
Thank you so much 🥰
My two super fave places in "Manila" are Makati and BGC in Taguig.

He’s swerte 😉 but I am lucky too!
I really watched till end and appreciate how you embraced our culture, and yes younger siblings can not call older siblings their names, it is impolite to the filipino culture. Younger siblings should call their big brother "kuya and Ate for big sister.
We are working on getting Rowan to be better at using the term Kuya with Kasen. He does it with everyone else, so we know that he understands.
You are so lucky to have married a Filipino man.
Thank you Maree-Winx! Most days I feel super lucky. ❤️😉
Congratulations and happy anniversary! I applaud your vlog and appreciate you shining a light on the blending of your culture and your husbands!
Thank you so much!
Happy sixteenth wedding anniversary to both of you, sixteen and going strong secret of successful husband and wife relationship put God in the center of your marriage....
Thank you! 🙏🏼
I love your vibe hosting this vlog. Really relaxing. May you share more videos
Thank you so much!
How lucky your husband cause he has a beautiful wife like you, enjoy the culture of the Filipinos...
Thank you so much 🥰
Kuya should make his youtube channel about all the fast food and restaurants reviews in the Philippines that we in the states don't have access to. Happy anniversary 🎉
Thank you so much! That’s a fantastic suggestion and we’ve told him that many people love to watch his reviews! Hopefully soon for him 😉
Ma" am you forgot the "tabo" every Pinoy bathroom / cr has one
we use that for "buhos "
in taking a bath, and at mealtimes don't ever drop a spoon or a fork coz there might be a visitor coming, and we don't sweep the dirt of the floor outside the door at nighttime becoz good luck may come out
of the house.
Yes nearly every bathroom has one… we actually do not have them and I never noticed any at my in-laws house either but maybe they didn’t keep that in the guest bathrooms 😉 thank you so much for watching and sharing your family traditions with us!

Good thing before I started watching this video I grabbed some food before heading home haha. I think most of your points made are also applied to Mexican culture or any Hispanic cultures.
