  • Tom calls in about his 2016 Ford F-150 that is having an issue where the fan that cools the radiator is staying on all the time and is killing the battery. The dealership couldn't help him and he has to pull the fuse to the fan every time he goes away from the truck for too long. Larry tells him that there is an issue in the circuit and that it may have lost the ground in the accident.

Dealers do not value the techs, they want to make money from the service side but when a good tech comes along, especially a good diag man, they simply will not invest in that guy. A good tech will make money outside the dealership and finding a quality independent shop is almost a must.

This is so true. A good tech may take lots of time to figure out an issue. Time is money, especially to a dealer or Stealership who wants to do things fast.

My engine fan won’t shut off only when it’s really hot outside. Is this normal or should I get it taken into to get checked out.

I have a 2017 with a 5.0 in the cooling fans will not come on unless you turn on the AC compressor then only the high speed fan will run and it will not shut off until you turn the air conditioner off. If you turn the air conditioner on and off really quickly the low speed fan will come on and run for 1 minute and then shuts off. Also The Grille shutters stay closed unless the fans are running. Obviously this is no bueno. Anyone have any ideas I would greatly appreciate it

I had a similar problem with my 2015 F150 recently, it was one of the relays that was causing the problem.

I have the same problem with my 2015 F150 Ecoboost and my brake lights and turn signal don't work unless I take a sledgehammer and tap a certain spot on my rear bumper unfortunately where I live every auto tech worth a damn is constantly booked lol I have been pulled over 4 times for no rear lights fortunately I also carry a badge and after showing the officers the sledgehammer trick they just laugh
