Optimum Tech ok maybe off topic but still, AMD told the new ryzen refresh Pinnacle ridge will be introduced with a new set of X470 & B450 motherboards. But will it be backwards compatible? And will the present X370 & B350 run the upcoming ryzen Pinnacle ridge CPUs?
@Ean McCraken yes most likely b350 and x370 will support pinnacle ridge as there is no major chipset changes just optimization. Similar to z68 vs z77. I suspect pinnacle ridge + X4xx/B4xx mobos will address the ram compatibility issues - possibly higher ram speeds closer to 4000mhz, and improve clockspeed - say 200-500 mhz. But I am just speculating, nothing has been confirmed so far. If we can get a ryzen 5 2600x on 12nm that can oc to 4.5ghz we might see AMD offer similar gaming fps to coffee lake 8600k with much greater productivity scores, because of SMT.
Hi, how do you test for dropped frames I'm Adobe playback? This is by far the most useful video on Adobe performance I've ever seen, incredible job there especially for the graph to show the amount of time saved!
Its good to see you do this test, I think a lot of people needed to see it. A lot of people from previous generations should definitely have this processor in mind if they have a set budget that allows for it. It is amazing to see how strong of a chip it is compared to the former top tier i7. Keep it up mate!
DUDE, I gotta hand it to you. This was exactly the type of presentation I have been looking for. Warp stabiliser, motion tracking, scrubbing through timeline. These are more important than just render time. A video on 8700K like this would be great (vs Ryzen 1800X). But this video is great and enough for me to find out where and how CoffeeLake stands. THANKS!!
Can't you ask a local retailer to borrow you chips? They usually has demo examples and such. Just mention their name and link their website in the description. I'm sure they get impressed by your videos so far and people are usually happy to help! :)
Nice comparison, I am looking at either the 7700k or the 8700k but this gives me a good idea that I'm going to gain from getting the newer one. Very informative review as I'm looking to upgrade specifically for video editing purposes! Thanks and keep up the good videos!
Subbed. May i suggest that u also add in future videos power consumption, lower overclocks i.e. 5ghz as well as mainstream games like lol, pubg, dota, csgo and such. Thank you and keep it up.
Finally a video based on what I really want to see!. All other videos are just gaming based. this is just perfect, I think I will get that 8600k and spend more money to get like a gtx 1070. This i5 8600k should just be fine for me, I hope it can also handle Maya like a boss.
If I have choice between 8600K and 8700 w/o K, I would definitely go with 8700 - in terms of GHz it's bit slower (can be clocked for 4.8Ghz all cores btw), the price is almost comparable, but performance wise it's definitely faster than 8600K. But nice review, BTW:)
I have: I5 8600K 5GHZ Gtx 1080 16gb DDR4 ram 2666MHz When im editing in sony vegas pro 15, it is very very laggy, it takes a long time to load frames (Set to Draft Quarter) The app some times crashes when im trying to add effects and things, i have tried to factory reset computer, reinstall sony vegas but it is still so laggy. (I was editing 4k, 120fps)
For someone who's been drooling all over Ryzen for the past few months, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't considering the 8600K at this very moment. Still slightly too expensive for my tastes, though. Hope the prices drop below the anticipated 249EUR in Q1 next year (which was supposed to be the actual coffeelake release before Ryzen came out). The extra cash I'd have to shell out compared to a 1600 platform would allow me to otherwise swap out my GTX1060 and replace it with a GTX1070 (and still have some spare cash). Lower end Z370 boards are gimped. There are AM4 B350 boards with more features than the entry-level Z370 boards. Some livestreaming benchmarks would be highly appreciated. Haven't come across any. It just boggles my mind that a hexacore blatantly outcompetes the 7700K in virtually every situation.
I build new PC with intel Core i5 8th, RAM 8 Gb 3000 MHz, SSD and Gtx 1070. When I use footage 1080 on timeline and some effect, playback is still lacking. But if I dropped resolution 1/2 , then better and smooth. But I want Full resolution and edit. Can you answer me what should do or what problem have in my PC? Thanks.
Hi, I would like to ask. Can you please compare an 8th gen intel CPU set-up with vs. without a dedicated graphics card? Thank you. Very interested in the playback result.
i got mine for around 200 so u really cant complain when u get a deal on an older i7 that is now delided and just running amazingly at least for my needs its more than i could ask for .
Which one is the best can you suggest me,, I wanna make a better pc that will comfortable for playing this generation games on ultra settings and video editing smoothly... please suggest me first as soon as possible!!!??
I'm still running a 6700k, I do a fair bit of 4k Video Editing and gaming which is 1440p 144hz+ Max settings, I don't feel overclocking (it goes to 4.8 Ghz) gives me good enough performance/thermals. Will a 8700k help me keep at this rate or is the 6700k still ok or will it become a bottleneck. (gpu right now is 1080ti)
Depends. I can't speak for production workloads, but in gaming you will certainly see improvement in certain titles, but in others you won't see any. Fallout, Far Cry, GTA, ... they all run on engines that are either starting to show their years or don't properly utilize multiple threads (and instead benefit more from faster single cores). If you mainly play those game, don't bother upgrading. You won't even notice the upgrade, not even 5fps gained. But newer titles will see an improvement, though not that much better. You will still mostly be limited by your GPU. My advice, as long as your current cpu doesn't give you any issues at this very moment, I wouldn't upgrade. As shown in this video, the 8600K ungraciously defeats the 7700K in adobe, but as long as your skylake's performance isn't bothering you, I don't think an upgrade is required. Especially considering that upgrading is pretty expensive at this moment. You'd have to swap motherboard too, and that would cost you an additional 150USD at the minimum. And the new mobos don't actually offer anything new compared to the Z170's.
I'm going to be building a development machine soon.. I was going to go with a fast CPU, but do you also need an expensive video card, or is that really just for gaming? Heck, would onboard video be good enough? I'm going to be using Premiere Pro, InDesign and Photoshop the most
Tim Kline I’m dont know alot about the video editing area but I know that some programs use the gpu in some things, I would search it up but i guess you want atleast a kinda decent gpu
You can utilize GPU acceleration which will help speed up rendering in some tasks. Something around a GTX1050 would be enough to see significant benefits. Definitely prioritise the CPU!
take a look at the science studios video there has been a patch for 6th to 8th gen intel cpus for adobe where u get like 25 percent more performance by using the onboard graphics it was literally faster than the cuda acceleration on a gtx 1080
I want to buy a laptop, so battery is an important issue, I dont want dedicated GPU, so which is the best intel procesor for view 4k videos on external monitor?
Please get the 8700k and do a direct comparison with 7700k. This comparison is a bit weird since the 8600k has 6C 6T while the 7700k has 4C 8T. The extra 2 threads in the 7700k makes the comparison a bit mismatched.
PLEASE!!! If you can, then make Ryzen 1600x/1800x VS coffelake 8600K/8700K test in video editing (stabilizer, rendering, other useful editing stuff). And thank's for that video too! Almost nobody talking about stabilizer, but that is quite a job and lot of editing time too :) By the way, hello from Ukraine :) )))
Computer technology is always going to get obsolet quickcly, and Skylake/Kaby-Lake died when Ryzen came out (besides G4560 and 7700K) but they are still good chips :) (but don't play games with programs running though) Unless you need 200+fps at CS:GO or heavy videos rendering you'll be fine for a few years, and can upgrade by the time of Ryzen 3 and 8-cores intels ;)
Well it depends on what games you run and at which resolution If you're heavily into esports titles, city building/tycoon games and RTS which uses mostly two cores, or emulators like Cemu and RPCS3 then intel K serie is the way to go no doubt, even older gens, and i5 is the minimum But if you're into casual gaming with a bit of everything, and you want a smooth and modern desktop experience too, then an overclocked R3 1200 is fine till a 1060/RX580 so the build can be well balanced, and the 219$ 1600 is totally adapted for high end gaming if 100fps is all you need In the end you have to choose depending on your needs, and ryzen followed by coffee lake finally made the choice possible :)
So.. 6 cores vs 4 cores 8 threads. Which would be better for streaming? 2 extra cores or 4 "double" cores. HELP. Edit: I'm talking about i5-8400 btw :p
still motherboards are cheaper for Ryzen. MSI Pro Carbon for example is a nice example of cheap and really nice motherboard. Ryzen 1600 + mentioned MSI is equal to price of 8700k alone...
Pff, Asus' B350 Strix blows most of the entry-level Z370 boards out of the water. Highest quality VRM's, best audio codec, similar RAM support as a high end X370 board, ... Somewhat on the expensive side, but still cheaper than any Z370 on the market today. I'm really intrigued by the 8600K, but the price a 1600 + B350-STRIX still is the more attractive option.
I have a Ryzen 5 1600 OC@4.1Ghz.... I think I should have waited a little bit more for these insane coffee lake chips.... sad life;) What do you guys think? And BTW I have a MSI GTX 1060 6gb which is also OC Core:230Mhz and Boost:235Mhz
Why does every tech RUclips edit in 4K? They're all just inside in a studio/ bedroom. People that do travel videos or cinematic stuff still use 1080p, and it's still fine. Ngl these guys are wasting their time/making life harder for themselves (very few people even have 4K screens)
Due to supersampling, the footage will look better even at 1080p. People who do travel videos typically shoot at 1080p for the ~120fps trade off, it's worth it for their slow motion shots.
Well I do agree with the portfolio opinion, but in terms of content I disagree. If you want to make a video that makes a point, then resolution doesn't mater.
But many of the reviewers are wondering if the same performance can be observed on the lower end H310 boards. Some suspect that the more expensive Z370 boards allow the 8400 to better clock at the advertised 4ghz, while they fear that it won't be the case on the lower end H and B boards. Especially because the gap between base and boost clock on the 8400 is so massive. 2.8ghz to 4ghz.
8700K is overkill for gaming at the moment. i5 8400 and 8600K are much more sensible options, and of course AMD's R5 1600 offers great price to performance as well.
Correction: 7:09 should read: “18 mins faster than OC 7700K”
Who wants to see this done for Ryzen?
What about a streaming test with these chips.

Please continue doing this particular comparison in future reviews too.. 👍
I just bought the 7700K a month ago for a pretty good price and fortunately not for Adobe but man, this i5 is a killer.
laa vie fuck, i tried 5 times to wipe that hair out.
@@no.way.out_ I read your comment not realising what hair and was trying to wipe it away as I was reading trying to figure out what hair , lol
generally a hyper thread is considered about as good as 1/4 of a core and 1/4 of 4 cores is one so 7700k is like 5 cores versus 6 for the i5
DUDE, I gotta hand it to you. This was exactly the type of presentation I have been looking for. Warp stabiliser, motion tracking, scrubbing through timeline. Thanks for the video like this ,you get the respect from video editors ,coz there is game testing and comparing everywhere.
The only channel that makes good 8600k vs 7700k comparison so far :) thanks bro
Pretty impressive how much better the i5 performs in many tests compared to the 7700k
of course because it's in video editing the 8600k has more thread, but in gaming 7700k is the beast.
Yeah intel really did a great job with 8th gen. You should take a look at the i3 8350k vs i7 7700k. They are pretty close

Exactly, not every software cares about hyper-threading, for example, rendering work. Sometimes more physical cores just means better.

Great, if you have a z270 like me if you buy a 7700k, all you get is a 20% slower cpu for 30% more price and with 50% more power draw.
Yeah, people who bought brand new 7700k must have it hard, still a good chip in gaming but meh in the rest :/
Does this make skylake are pointless product in terms of an average user specifically the 6600k?
Computer technology is always going to get obsolet quickcly, and Skylake/Kaby-Lake died when Ryzen came out (besides G4560 and 7700K) but they are still good chips :) (but don't play games with programs running though)
Unless you need 200+fps at CS:GO or heavy videos rendering you'll be fine for a few years, and can upgrade by the time of Ryzen 3 and 8-cores intels ;)
I wouldn't say pointless, but there are *much* better options available right now
Yann Renvoisé I would say that Broadwell E died when Ryzen launched rather than Kaby Lake. Kaby lake still had the single core performance advantage.
Well it depends on what games you run and at which resolution
If you're heavily into esports titles, city building/tycoon games and RTS which uses mostly two cores, or emulators like Cemu and RPCS3 then intel K serie is the way to go no doubt, even older gens, and i5 is the minimum
But if you're into casual gaming with a bit of everything, and you want a smooth and modern desktop experience too, then an overclocked R3 1200 is fine till a 1060/RX580 so the build can be well balanced, and the 219$ 1600 is totally adapted for high end gaming if 100fps is all you need
In the end you have to choose depending on your needs, and ryzen followed by coffee lake finally made the choice possible :)
So.. 6 cores vs 4 cores 8 threads. Which would be better for streaming? 2 extra cores or 4 "double" cores. HELP.

Some suspect that the more expensive Z370 boards allow the 8400 to better clock at the advertised 4ghz, while they fear that it won't be the case on the lower end H and B boards. Especially because the gap between base and boost clock on the 8400 is so massive. 2.8ghz to 4ghz.
very good video thanks!!!!!4
i want to make videos like you what should i need to do ????????????????????????????
8700k or 8600k for gaming?
8700K is overkill for gaming at the moment. i5 8400 and 8600K are much more sensible options, and of course AMD's R5 1600 offers great price to performance as well.
The Z370s (only mobos released for now) are also overkill for gaming, if you can wait till Q1 2018 you could save 50$ and buy a better gpu/ssd etc
Ryzen 3 vs Intel i3 8100 please
5.3 sometimes 5.2, strange inconsistency.
Now do one for Resolve
make a video on ryzen 1600x vs 8700k
i mean obviously more real cores is better than virtual once
Comparing 5.2 GHz vs 5,0 GHz? Where is your logic???
The 7700k doesn't overclock like the 8600k
Do one for 8700k too.
