  • How I Aim a Slingshot, Importance of Sight Picture
    In this video I will explain how I aim and shoot slingshots.
    Sight picture is key to my accuracy. Sight picture means, what your eye focuses on when looking down you bands at the target.
    the worst thing to avoid is you eye switching back and forthbetween your target and sight.
    I try to explain this concept in this video.
    I hope this helps tighten up your groups.

    Very well said, I don't think I've come across that in any other video. Most with an archery or firearm take it for granted, 'cuz that's usually the very next thing after learning to draw or shoulder. Very well explained!!

      Thanks man. I tried to explain it the best I can. Proper sight picture is probably the biggest thing I can say keeps me on point. When I start shooting like crap it's because my eye is going back and forth and messing me up.

      Thanks Benji, a bunch of people asked me to do a video on this, but I didn't think I had anything to add until I watched some videos, and nobody really covered sight picture. I figured it would be a good thing to cover because when I start missing my eye starts flipping between the target and fork tip which makes me less stable in my frame hand. Sure enough when I focus on my site (fork tip) and hover over the blurry target it locks right in and I miss much less. In that shooting session at the end I just focused on shooting with this technique and you can see the results. Hopefully, it was a clear explanation. I think this can help get people zoomed in and start tightening up their groops.

    Great tips, Mark! I think I need to bring my fork tip into focus more and accept a kind of blurry target, just like you suggested. I tend to focus on the tip, then the target, which slows down my shots. Anyways, looking forward to trying something new!

    It's really interesting to see how someone else does it, definitely works for you.
    Maybe it's the fact I almost exclusively use some sort of longer draw but I like to concentrate on the target, although I am trying to create a consistent picture too.
    Slingshot shooting seems to have the most variations of pretty much anything when it comes to shooting sports.

    • @ATOMark
      @ATOMark  2 месяца назад +1

      Ya I think the most important thing to take away from this video is to focus the same way all the time. As soon as your focus is flip flopping back and forth that where you get in trouble.

      @@ATOMark Wonder if we will see you trying another one of the Chinese frames with an adjustable sight, since in theory it might be the best thing for this style like sights on a bow.
      Keep on slinging.

    • @ATOMark
      @ATOMark  2 месяца назад +1

      @mrln247 na man I am not a fan of the sights at all. I much prefer an 88-90mm fork width with plain clips no sights at all and just shoot off the fork tip.

    • @mrln247
      @mrln247 2 месяца назад

      @@ATOMark I know you haven't got on with them when added to clips, but could be an interesting experiment for you to play around with a longer range pin, e.g. see if you can get one bang on for a random range like 18m or 22m just to prove a point.
      Flip side when you have a system that works doing something silly and messing it up would be really frustrating.

      If you draw infrastructure of a mirror and your form is good and your bands are stretched good and even then all you really have to worry about is your release. Make that as smooth a possible and you should be hitting very close to where you point your fork. If it's not re-check
