Great explanation, thanks! I came to the same conclusion after working with a sighted vs ocular. It wasn’t the sight, it was my technique that needed refining, and using a sight has made me more consistent.
Being a very old beginner I have been desperately trying to find out why I was always shooting left and all I was constantly seeing was the experts demonstrating their skills and how they do it. All very watchable but no help to me . Then this morning I found this video and all my dreams have come true. Pardon the language but it's bloody marvelous !!! I went to my discards drawer and dug out the chinese slingshots I first bought, because they looked good but discarded after many frame and finger strikes !!! I bought several other one as used by the experts and still can't hit anything that isn't to the right of where I am aiming (good groups though !!! ) So I have one set up now like the video one and found that I don't hit the frame , or me, and have moved nearer the bull instantly. Still work needed but now I know what I have to do......which is easier said than done Thank you, Thank you, Thank you
You are right, the aiming sites do work. I started shooting the catapult style slingshots with the aiming sites on them and was able to pinpoint the target pretty much every time I took a shot. Then I bought the Scout XT Slingshot and I was hitting targets just about every time I shoot it. Now I use the corner of the Scout's forks tips as my reference point, the same way the Chinese Slingshot that comes with the aiming sites. I find that by me shooting the ones with the aiming sites on them first did help a lot when I bought the Scout Slingshot, but the ones with the sites are excellent for beginners who haven't shot these style slingshots..
I need help setting up site and these pretty cross hairs. It's my first with sites and I have no idea what I'm doing or how to do the bright cross hair pieces

Thank you for the video. But can you give me some tips for shooting over 20m? I realized that I need to change reference point to a lower position at the upper fork. But is there a way to always aim at the top corner of the fork? The point is while hunting I can not exactly tell that the target is 20m away or 25m away.
Faster shooting bands will have the ammo on a flatter trajectory so you can use the same aimpoint but you do need to hold over the target most of the time for distance shooting to allow for the ammo drop. Practice at different distances helps a lot.
Thanks. I shot my Bean Flip OTT for a couple of lazy hours this morning. I’m working on consistency and found better results when I was sighting down the length of the top band. Tomorrow I’ll include the bottom band into the calculation.
With them adjustable sights if you want to shoot farther do you have to extend the sight out farther or push it in closer to the frame when shooting farther distances.
The Sights Are Cool But It's Hitting The Bands Whenever I Shot It, So I Decided To Just Remove It, Because My Bands Broken After A Few Shots Near The Sights.
The sights are above the band attachment so the sights should never come into contact with your bands. More than likely you experienced what is called a fork hit. If the latex is between the ball and the slingshot frame, it can be pinched and cut by this impact. A key sign is holes in the latex.
This was informative as i just use my instinct look point shoot kind of thing and as long as i do it smoothly I hit what im looking at ..pins Beads and dimples dont seem to work for me and as for putting a laser/ red dot on one ..well thats just Daft ..The skill is in using a cattapult accurately and simply
Very true! There are many great shooters that do not use a sight or fork corner reference because they have improper technique. I have heard several say that they can aim with a corner reference. My point is only that it is the lineup. I only use them at night for rabbit otherwise the fork corner is lost on the silhouette. Also, they are most beneficial on the narrower gap frames as well where the impact point is floating well above the frame corner.
I’ve been exploring the use of sites for a few months now. I found that incorporating the correct angles into the frame allowed me to hold comfortably while aligning the site. Prior to that it was uncomfortable to force its alignment and often those extra forces threw the shot. Are you on the Slingshot Forum?
Yes, exactly my friend! You allowed it to correct what you had wrong in your form and I bet you are a better shooter for it. Yes I am but not real active in Slingshot Forum. Too many armchair experts imo. I'm very active in the Facebook groups. Also, slingshot community forum. I'm for helping folks, not proving I'm right. Besides the great thing with slingshots is all the different ways. There are very few that have a "has to be done this way" to it.

It's tough to face when we do it wrong but learning to do it right makes for a lot more fun with it.
This was the best video on sights, period. Subscribed and many thanks!
Thank you so much. I'm glad it helped you understand sights better.

Glad to help, you are very welcome! It's so much more fun when you hit the target!
Thanks for this, ordered a slingshot with a site like that off Amazon today, seems like a great tool for getting your form correct.
You are very welcome! If they are quality, they work well. Have fun!

Yes, and for learning proper hold as well. I have several of the cheap ones too.
A good introduction to the use of sights. Thank you for the content.
Thank you. I can't vouch for all slingshots sights but if they line up properly and your off use it as a free coach to help.
THANKS!!!! i always loved slingshots since i was a kid....great info on using the sights....thanks for creating the video...learned alot...cheers
Thanks so much! Glad it helped.
well, the way you lined it up with the camera showed me exactly what i was doing wrong. now im hitting it every time.
thanks

It is different for each model. The sights need to be lined up properly with the frame. I would contact the maker for installation instructions.
I can not find that sight system want to try it out!

I line up the top directly over the bottom band. I can only see the top one.

You will need to lower the sight to account for the ammo's drop over distance.
True form is everything great video thanks !
Thank you!
Very well explained, thank you 🤜🏼🤛🏼

Nice frame with sight... I love it 😍😍😍😍😍😍
Thank you.

Great video, very well explained 👏👍🏻
Thank you.
Thanks. I found this useful.
Glad it was helpful!
What is the meaning of ott
OTT is over the top. TTf is through the forks.
This was very helpfull, now i understand how that sight works !
Awesome, that's my mission, to help. Glad it was helpful for you. Thanks for letting me know.

Have you tried a higer anchor point? That should help with being able to use the dimples. I do some instinctive but most the time I aim.
Wow 👏you seen like a really good teacher 👏👍
Thank you.
Very good video it helps a ton
Thank you, I am happy that it helped.
great info bro looks a nice place were u are
Yes, northern Michigan is beautiful! Thank you!
One could argue, if you're already a good shooter, you don't need a sight.

I like most others learned on one witout sights.
I shoot frameless but still you explained the sight method very well subscribed to your channel 😎👍🇬🇧

Very Good explained how Sights work
Thank you!

Thank you so much! Greetings back to you!
It's a prefect video. I'm gonna change to OTF. TTF, my target is to lost in the band of sight. I do hit, but I don't like it.
I use ttf for target and known/set distances but for hunting I typically stick with OTT so the fork and bands don't cover my target as well.
You know when you have a misalignment.....the steel ball hits the back of your hand......boy,does it hurt like a mother f##ker lol....I learned the hard way😅
Oh, you're not the first! I did the same thing! 🤣
Rufus Hussey didn't need a sight on his natural forks or fancy taper cut bands. Instinctive shooting is a lost art these days.
Needs and how to correctly use are two separate deals. I prefer no sight as it is only good for a set distance.
short answer.. as provided no... every individual shoots differently...
You are 100% incorrect, they work great, but for them to work great, you need to do things correctly such as form, release, and anchor point.
If your technique is good enough to use a catty with sights without breaking the sights whilst shooting, then you probably don't need the sights.
Very true! They are a great learning aid theough for new shooters.
i got frames with sights , never use em i use fork tips
Yes, mine sat for a while because "the sights didn't work" but then I figured it out. It was a pain to change everything but I am SO GLAD I DID!
subbed u bro
Thanks!
How very dare you sir.....I've never had complaints on my technique
🤣🤣🤣 if we all shot perfect, imagine the tournaments!
