    I’ve been experiencing sleep paralysis since childhood and my parents didn’t pay much attention to it back then , I have scary hallucinations when I experience it and sometimes feel like something is strangling me. I usually am really hot and having trouble breathing during it. Do you get the same? And the moment I come out of it the cool air of the room is like immediately refreshing. Also, i know what you mean about energy expenditure. I would try to rhythmically flex my muscles, over and over until some threshold was reached and I lurched out of it. I always had the urge to just give in and let my consciousness slide back into dreams, but was always afraid id suffocate if I did that.

    There’s a somewhat similar movie called “Shadow People” (2012) there are a few movies with that titles so the date is important. It’s pretty good. It’s about sleep paralysis where people can’t move after waking up but see shadows coming at them to kill them and the “disease” spreads by having knowledge of it.

      It's been happening to me since I was a little kid. It's scary when the dark figure appears on the bedside but I gave up as if "we" have a mutual agreement. Always know I'm going to have an episode minutes before it's arrival. The room would suddenly turn pindrop silence. I can feel him... like a heavy object on my chest.
      My parents blame me for not eating healthy food.
      Some people suggest me to sleep under the blanket but it doesn't work.

      I suffer from sleep paralysis regularly. I can't even count how many times it's happened to me. Maybe hundreds, not exaggerating. I've had it since I was a child. It's actually nothing. People say how scary they are and stuff. But it's not that scary. Just a few hallucinations. You get used to it after some time.
      Edit: as tips to other people who are suffering from it and ones who are so scared of it. More often than not, sleep paralysis is caused by irregularity in your sleep routine. You sleep too little or you sleep too much or you sleep at an hour you usually don't or you don't have a regular sleep schedule or you eat something indigestible before you sleep. When that happen, don't try to move or struggle. It makes it worse. Try to relax as much as you can. Remind yourself it'd be over soon. Relax your muscle, mentally of course, as much as you can. Calm your mind.

    I struggle with sleep paralysis when under stress, which is few times a month atleast. I can't see anything as I can't open my eyes but I hear voices (humans and demonic) and feeling a presence of someone there who is hurting me. Often it's my ribcage that hurts the most (from a presence trying to push in my ribs), but had other places as if I was just stabbed or broken. The pain feels real. Can't believe it's my brain making me believe I'm in such a pain. I've only had a few times a soar feeling after such an "attack".

    • @jreel
      @jreel 9 месяцев назад

      I'm assuming it has to do with a child's mind not being mature nor developed enough to hold on to guilt. The moment they have assurances they are not to blame for something, they let go and move on. As an adult, no matter how many times you attempt to convince yourself you aren't to blame for something, it's nearly impossible. It's far more difficult to let go, forgive and forget as an adult which is why Kate couldn't forgive herself for not "saving" Helena.
      Besides, the little girl didn't actually cause anyone to die nor saw anyone die so her guilt didn't haunt her like everyone else.

    Sleep paralysis is absolutely terrifying. It has happened to me 3 times. You wake up, but your body and the parts of your brain that regulate your basics, like breathing, don't. So your breathing regularly and slowly. You want to breathe more, but you can't. You want to move, but can't, You want to talk, but you can't. And you get this sense that something's there that should not be. Something horrible. After about a minute or so you do wake up fully, but it feels like an hour.

    Geralt of Rivia tricked and banished something similar to Mara in The Witcher 3. A hym was targeting the Jarl Udalryk and feeding off his guilt of accidentally making his brother drown when they were kids. The demon would command Udalryk to torture himself, Udalryk listened to the voice thinking it was the gods. Eventually the demon will get bored and command them victims to brutally kill themselves before moving to the next. Cerys, who was helping Geralt break the curse has a plan that she couldn't inform Geralt on and told him to wait at Udalryk's childhood home, eventually Cerys arrived, followed by the Jarl and his men after kidnapping Udalryk's baby and told Geralt to put the baby in the oven and don't question it, he does and locks it. Shortly after the oven ignites and Geralt watches Udalryk beg and cry, and try desperately to open the oven hatch. Geralt sees the hym detach itself from the Jarl and move towards himself, as the guilt he now feels for roasting an innocent baby is far deeper and fresher for the demon to feed. However Cerys comes out from the back room with the baby safe and well, as she and Udalryk's advisor had already created a hole in the wall and back of the oven in preparation. With Geralt's guilt relieved, and the fact that the hym has already detached from Udalryk, it has no host and no guilt to feed on and is banished.
    There's another way that it can be done, simply by exercising the hym out of Udalryk, and using his silver sword Geralt can kill it. However that leaves Udalryk dead.

    I absolutely hate sleeping so I sleep only 2 hours a day and then my caffeine pills will take care of the rest.

    Sleep paralyzing is fucking REAL....the shit is too much scary, i experienced sleep paralysis a coupe of times, and that very moment my whole body just freeze, i can only open my eye half, giving me an opaque unclear vision but I always see a female like dark figure sitting beside me, it gives me chills evey time when i remember....cuz at that point you CAN'T do anything, can't open your eyes completely can't move your limbs, in fact that point you CAN'T differentiate that you awake or sleep? Is it a dream or reality?
