The fact that they forgot about beautiful men. How the heck did everyone just let THAT slide????
I was thinking the same
Unless that handsome guy is a fuck boy, I don't think handsome men should pay taxes in the situation of this film. No matter how handsome the men are, women have more self control in them and they don't shower handsome men with gifts unless the woman is totally desperate in finding a handsome boyfriend.
@@blackatom4957 fuck boy or not
Theyre still handsome
The law affects every woman with a pretty face no matter what they do
It should be applied to men too
@@blackatom4957 ooohh but if we are talking about real life tho, there are many handsome and cute men/boys that have the same privilege. There are literally men that have sugar daddies or sugar mommies or even both, using their handsome/beauty/cute privilege. There are so many men that actually get a job better because they are attractive, because in a society, if you have two very talented people applying for a job, big chance you will take the one thats attractive and if possible, younger. Esp in retail jobs and office work where you meet clients. And dont forget celebrities and influencers, many attractive men excells just like beautiful women.
One of the point of the film, is to highlight how the government that pass this law were mostly men. So in hindsight, we can assume that they didnt want men to get in the same situation, didnt want any of them to have a chance to get taxed. As you can see, the protesters before the tax were complaining that this is a discrimination against women, they too agree that this is very misogynistic. However, because the women that are "unattractive" outweighed the women who are attractive, they didnt protest at all when the tax happened.
This is a campy film with very interesting message overall, and in a way, kinda hit the reality because in some countries, there are actually laws that restrict women while the men arent restricted that much. Fun fact, the producers and even many of the actress and actors also made a point that this is very controversial because in a way, they are calling out how society can be very misogynistic. The lady that played Aiko also opened up when asked about it that she wasnt keen about the idea of taxing people that are beautiful, because tax should be something equals to all people regardless how they look and more about their wealth.
Edit : And I forgot to add, that this whole movie basically in a way are saying, that the pressure of being a woman is very high on this society, because as you can see, the beauty standard changed at the end of the movie. It proves that because they made a beauty tax legal, it also basically made society esp men, to sexualize and stereotype women even more to the point that beauty standard became a trend that can changed even quicker, because it is controlled by law, money, and pride, while before beauty is considered subjective.
@@blackatom4957 bu what?, handsome men also get privileges therefore they should be affected
This literally goes to show just how subjective beauty is. It kinda reminds me of that one episode of the Twilight Zone, "The Eye of the Beholder" where the beautiful girl is considered ugly while everyone else is gruesomely defirmed, yet that is that world's beauty norm.
It doesn't show anything. It simply presents the view of the writers of the film.
ok
Yikes, I'm glad this is only fiction, since this idea of beauty tax would only lead to the worst, as shown in this story about Aiko. Beauty is subjective, but "ugly" people would end up being favorable. There is also not a direct correlation between getting having an advantage and being beautiful. That is possible, like many other attributes a person can have and like many other aspects of a person.
yeah this would only lead to ugly being the new pretty as shown (although it would be a 100% subjective beauty, not a mix as we have now)
There are actual studies that have been done and it was actually proven that beautiful people get away with more things than ugly and normal people
@@OlivierWangTheReiVilo Interesting, but I'm sure there are still many people that don't treat "beautiful" people highly, like me. Additionally, what I meant by that there isn't a "direct" correlation is that, in other people who treat "beautiful" people highly, the appearance of the "beautiful" people may be what stimulates the feeling, but ultimately the direct cause of the better treatment is that the other people feel like appreciating "beautiful" people more due to them having a quality they like. Beauty is a cause of a cause. Basically, someone being "beautiful" often leads to others liking them which leads to better treatment, but there are _many_ other aspects of a person that often lead to others liking them which leads to better treatment, and the favorable aspects depend on which people the person in question is surrounded by.
@@guillaumejoop6437and the funny thing is, the beauty tax shifted to ugly people, which in turn make the beautiful people much more easy todate since they get more preferred because of the lower tax, ultimately making the system cyclical lol.

Wiat, if beauty tax works on salary too wouldn't that mean you pay more than you earn in tax also it's applied twice, once on your salary then when you buy something so the 20% tax she had was actually 44%.
Both reducing a person’s salary and increasing the prices of goods seems like a fast way to increase poverty; one or the other might work out, but both together would definitely cause problems
All she needs is a guy with a decent salary. 20% more than the average woman wouldn't be that bad for a hottie. That's a common tip amount.

Someone I knew at highschool got bullied by a lot of people because a pretty student told everyone that she tried to argue with her. This proves that beauty is subjective, and it's society that decides what's beautiful and what is not.
To some extent. But we all have innate abilities to decipher beauty. If society decides that worms crawling out of ones face is beautiful (which we won't), I still wouldn't find it beautiful. Symmetry is one example of beauty that is universal
Nah, there's preferences, but if someone is ugly, they're ultimately ugly. Symmetrical faces are always beautifully

Why would people bully someone because they think they are unattractive and praise someone because they are beautiful? I ask why do they treat prettier ones better instead of treating every human the same not who you should date.

Is it? I think it was just constantly giving plot twists just to screw with the viewer, myself. I'm not sure there's actually a lot of symbolism here, other than to directly make fun of the ridiculousness of "equity" type progressive politics.

Honestly, this is a great idea, beautiful people ARE the wealthiest people, they get ten times more the opportunities and experiences and happiness of a normal looking person, not to mention how horrible life is for ugly people.
"I've spent a lot of money on pretty girls." Well, some pretty girls also spend a lot of money to be pretty but u don't see them complaining
facts very much facts guys dont even want to know how much nails, lash extensions, highlights, makeup, etc. cost fr 💀
@Samir Dončić get a grip lmfao she doesnt serve you
@Samir Dončić so you want a housemaid...
@Samir Dončić there are guys who look themselves in the mirror for 3 hours. Why are you complaining about we girls only? And do you even cook and do chores?
@Samir Dončić What I understood from your comments: You said you valid kindness (at least I interpreted it like this) at the same time criticizing people doing something that doesn't hurt anyone. You valid being smart (that's a guess as well), but went to the conclusion without any clues that people replying to you got hurt and take 3 hours to get ready. Painting, reading, writing are hobbies just like dressing up and doing make-up can be. I am not the person who you criticize, but I found it quite wrong to be rude to people who didn't hurt anybody with though I'm superior because I read books, I can cook, I have a tidy room or sorts like that. I am sorry to be rude myself, I probably could put better my thoughts, but as you probably noticed my English isn't as good as it should be. What I mean is that with those words you didn't show how good of a person you really are. And the people have their reason to do stuff, and they could take 3 hours to be ready because they lack confidence, they want to impress you and show themself from the prettiest side, they like to dress up or any other reason
The ending is really a jawdroppong moments for me. Real masterpiece of a movie.
the ending was great lmao
“As a man with thick brows and freckles, this offends me.”
The way he says it so smoothly and calmly that killed me Lmao.
EDIT: what’s funny is that he is actually good looking.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Don’t worry dude thick brows and freckles are attractive to a good portion of girls

Solution: Just stop giving beautiful girls stuffs for free just cause of their beauty. And it's stupid how they blame the beautiful girls when it's them who did the act.
RIGHT stop being a simp like bro its your choice to give her it
Or how about just not accepting gifts. Nobody is telling you to accept them. It wouldn’t have happened if you just ignore them and move on with your day
The fact that you’re blaming men because women CHOSE TO TAKE THE GIFTS is sad. But no surprise from “you”💀
@@arcticflames6932 it’s her choice to take it or not. But clearly she did, so now don’t cry when you can’t get free stuff and advantages because of your looks
@@leila.7754 I blame the men here in the movie mostly because it's them who made the ridiculous law. And also, I get you point and agree but you can't just reject all gifts, that would be rude. Overall it's absurd however it is, and I'm not on whoever's side; every body in the movie is crazy. Don't get so triggered, chill.

That guy got guts to call people ugly
Funny how the women gets punished for men’s preferences and their inability to keep their thoughts from wandering 😓

@@itchyteeth7924 Source?
That was what you got out of it, eh?
If only you were complaining that they were being punished for how they look which doesn't prove they got stuff for free, and that it's just being unfairly assumed without proof that they got stuff for free, but no, you're actually complaining that they're having to pay taxes on free stuff they're actually given. Well I have news for you, if someone gives you something for free, you're actually expected to declare it on your taxes, and you're technically cheating on your taxes if you don't. Like if someone wins a car on a game show, they have to pay taxes on the value of that car, even though they didn't win money. Do you call that "punishment" too? Or would you only think it was a punishment if the contestant was a woman, and you'd call it fair if it was a man? Oh the poor women, it's such a punishment that they might have to pay taxes on the things they're given things for free. It must be so hard to be a woman, what with men constantly giving them things for free, which I'm sure they don't declare on their taxes anyway, how EVER do they get by? They make up myths that they get paid less for the same work and claim to be oppressed, is what they do.

The film talks about the heart-cleansing work required by Aiko. It also blames the beautiful women for their privileges. But what if the issue isn't the pretty women? What if the issue is with shallow bystanders (e.g. other men and women)? Men favoring prettier women is a fault who's blame resides solely on the men. The jealousy and covetousness within her friends are marks of their own impure hearts. Aiko's focus solely on her facial beauty is a character flaw that she needs to address. This is not a complaint of the film in any way. This seems to be the only film of its kind.. in my purview, but nonetheless. The point is that this has got me thinking and it's an incredible movie.
Truth is it's no one's fault
@@anjafrohlich1170 I honestly don't remember making this comment or know why I did, so you might be right 🙂
Also her beauty would've gone down if she just removed the make up lol
simps fault
literally the most fked up point of this movie. and the comments just pissed me off more. fking men blaming women when nobody forced them to simp. also women with internalised misogyny that is cultivated by shit society to shit other women instead of bringing each other up.
Well that was a freaking roller coaster!!!
Nice plot.
Let me get this straight:
Beautiful employees have their wages lowered by the beauty tax AND their companies have to pay the beauty tax again for employing them?! That's rediculous.
it kinda already somewhat happen, company pay profit tax and then they have to pay employee with that money being taxed again. it is stealing in daylight
It's as ridiculous as something in a movie...oh wait
The making of the law in the movie doesn't even make sense, much less anything that comes after.
Taxing only the small percentage of people would barely change anything for the nation finance. Then after all beautiful women being fired, soon enough they don't even money to be taxed anymore.
Not only the law served no purpose to finance at all, it even required to spend even more money to start running by having to pay for the research on beauty levels and the making of the beauty tax machine that's spread all around.
I mean they get free stuff ans priviliges so..
I guess its like how some agencies in the west have gender or race quotas. you can get penalised for having too many white guys.
Beauty: "But I don't wanna pay taxes"
Government: "OK then you will have anarchy without us"
Beauty: "I'd rather take that then"
That was a roller coaster
Moral of the story: there is no such thing as fairness
See that's how you know beauty is subjective: Aiko, in my opinion, is much more attractive than Raiko, but Raiko got 25%...
Lol I thought the same
Imagine someone with -100%
fr
Aiko:that's it I'm gonna work on making my heart beautiful
Also aiko when some kids say that she is ugly:
Ayo that's illegal..
