WE SAW WHALES!! So Many Whales!! In Juneau, Alaska (Holland America Koningsdam)

- I just love sailing into Juneau, Alaska! You pull in around lunchtime so it is a relaxing port day. The scenery is unreal with mountains, waterfalls, boats and floatplanes all around you! Once docked, we were off to our whale watching excursion!! I cannot tell you how excited we were about this! I have seen whales from our balcony on the ship but never close up.
We met the bus at the pier and they whisked us away to the docks where we boarded the newest whale watching boat in Juneau... how cool is that? We saw eagles as we sailed away and SO MANY WHALES!! It really was an incredible experience! We captured a few on our cameras but saw more in person. This is something that everyone should do at least once in their lives. We also visited the oldest lighthouse in Juneau as part of this excursion.
Once back in town, we were hungry so headed to the Red Dog Saloon... for some dinner... and duck farts!

That’s what I tell people: that there is no way to describe the gloriousness of the beauty of the landscape. I love it. I cant get enough of it. I went on a cruise there in 2016 and went back this year, (2022). And I’m ready to go back.
My husband and I would love to cruise to Alaska someday! He has been on a cruise, back in his younger day's 😁. I have never been on a cruise and I really want to take a cruise! I have contacted yalls travel agency and Sarah has been wonderful with helping me!

The last time you were at the Red Dog Saloon and did duck fart shots, I walked around for a week saying “Quack, quack…knock that sh*t back”. Great video, the whale with the white tail and her calf that showed their tails together were Flame and her calf Cinder. Flame is kind of a Juneau celebrity. 😀

The pure air is what we noticed so much and loved we will be headed back in 2024. Im soo glad you all left out of Vancour we been thinking about that as the next one.
I did a Christian Cruise on a Holland America ship back in July it was one of the best experiences of my life. I can't wait to go back !

Our Alaska cruises are top of the list for us. My favorite glacier is Hubbard, the best the biggest and the best calving. "Captain, there be whales...!" And I appreciate how hard it is to photograph these giants. Really hard to get them in the viewfinder and steady the camera! We actually got a breach on video, but it was so hard. Just look for the spouts, they are everywhere!

That is a good video in Juneau and you are very lucky to see couples of whales.
Once you experience the "whooosh" over and over coupled with seeing whales glide above the water's surface, dive and show their tails, and even, if you're lucky, breach you will forever love that sound! We've been to Alaska 3 times on HAL and still want more! Love "cruising" along with you! Appreciate your enthusiasm!

We just got back from Alaska and we did Harv & Marv tours. They were awesome. One of my favorite excursions and like you said, they views are out of this world. We saw many whales and sea lions, a few whales came really close to the boat, literally one went under us and splashed their tail right in front us. Freakin amazing. And we also did the duck fart too at the red saloon. Juneau what a gorgeous place!
We also did Harv & Marv they are the best! Small boats not crowded with people! Also a float plane is not to be missed, Island Wings with Michelle...unbelievable. And Tracy's Crab Shack...yum!
Juneau is nice & clean but we like Skagway better, nature at it's best, too bad I've heard lately that no cruise ship can dock @ Skagway for some reason
@@doods20fer41 yeah you can’t dock at Skagway. Something about falling rock and they are fixing it, so it’s tender only, but they have shuttles to take you to and from the ship so you don’t have to do that long walk.
Went on whale watching tour in Juneau last week. Absolutely loved it. Had a group of huge sea lions pop up next to our boat, too.

What a beautiful video! I'm totally with you when you talk about just getting lost in the landscape - I just got back from Discovery Princess a few weeks ago, and loved grabbing a latte and just staring into the distance from a comfy armchair!
So awesome I took a train from anchorage down to seward and did a boat tour out into the Kenai fjords such an amazing day saw humpbacks, orcas, puffins and lion seals.
You two are so funny! These videos are so good! I look forward to every one of them!

We stopped in Juneau on our Alaskan cruise with HAL. We ended the day in The Red Dog Saloon, a fantastic place. I was drinking beers but was fascinated by the number of people calling in for a Duckfart. In the end, I asked Simon, the barman, what it was all about and he treated me to a free Duckfart !!! Great experience, loved the place.
When we docked in Juneau on the Koningsdam, we were right across from Red Dog Saloon. Good thing too because we went in and had a few duck farts and wouldn't have made it too far :)
Its so cool to think the whales we saw in Maui this January may be the same you're seeing!

If you love crab. There is a crab lodge excursion that is awesome to do in Ketchikan.. they show you where they get crab and take to the lodge and you eat crab for 2 hours!!

My first cruise was to Alaska. It was magical. I don't remember how many cruise ships were in Juneau, but there was no getting into the Red Dog. However I really had to use the facilities and managed to sneak in the back door. What a fun place! I did not dilly dally because I didn't want to take up a chair that was for someone who had waited in line...who am I kidding...I did want to, but I didn't. I hope to do it again.

Even though im not fond of the cold i would love to see a whale as it is supposed to be an emotional experience when these huge animals approach you and trust you enough to let you touch them,i will have to do it one day hopefully🙏 im glad your both enjoying life and getting the opportunity to visit all these great places this earth offers,take care and God bless 🏴❤️

So agree about the Alaska mountain air being so clean, pure, refreshing. We've been twice on Princess and plan to do a b2b on Princess next year - because I just cannot get enough of the beauty of Alaska. My favorite destination so far. Thanks for the vlogs. Still loving what you're both doing. :)

We love the Koningsdam! We did a transatlantic on that ship in 2016. Doing another transatlantic cruise in 2023 on The Celebrity Beyond! Have fun!
We just got back today on the NCL Bliss, the weather in Juneau was amazing not just for October but almost anytime in the late summer early fall.
Sailed to Alaska in June 2022 on Ovation of the Seas. Did some of the things y'all recommended on your NCL Bliss vlogs. Hands down the best vacation I've ever been on.

Oh I am so excited you all putting these videos up just at the right time because next week on Friday we will be flying to Seattle and getting on the Norwegian Bliss on Saturday morning. And I did find out that if you were in a haven on the Bliss or the encore or any of the NCL ships even though you get to pick on your E docs what time do you want to board if you were in the Haven as soon as you get there they let you bored so if you get there at 8 o’clock they let you bored! That’s only if you’re in the Haven so just for you guys out there that is just one of the perks that you get when you stay in Haven on an NCL ship. And for me I consider being able to get on the ship at 8 o’clock instead of 1230 I mean there’s so much you can do you could be in the thermal spa before anybody else gets on the ship! And you got to keep up with the prices if you do you’re cruise early in advance keep an eye on all the specials. I think that when the sailing really really starts going wild the prices are going to be high if you haven’t already scheduled your cruise just in one week the difference once ncl announced all protocols are dropped The prices went crazy. Because for my cabin we got the forward pet house because in 2019 we had the aft penthouse so we wanted to try a different cabin. For three people we’re getting ready to leave in a week with all my cruise credits that I had from all the cruises that were canceled. All three of us are going for $4,600. And if you check for next Alaska season for three people and of course it can change it was 20,000 . But in 2019 that was when the bliss was brand new and of course in 2020 they shut everything down because of Covid so I still consider her a brand new ship because nobody was cruising on her for two years. But you guys need to try the Haven at least one time it is unbelievable all the perks that you get! But like Alyssa said it is really hard to go from being in a suite to going back to a regular cabin because you know what you’re missing. But you know what this year would’ve been the definitely the year to have done The Haven because the prices were unbelievable I mean I even think the owner suite went as like 5600 for the first and second person and I’ve looked in the past and it was as high as 12×15,000 per person. Yeah I wouldn’t pay that kind of money for Haven the perks are not that great to pay that kind of money. Now if every haven cabin had a Jacuzzi tub. You would have to throw in the specialty dining and the spa I mean you’re paying that kind of money some of the cabins are not that big or the balconies are not that big. I thought they were with the prima I thought they were going to do much better with the Haven period but I don’t know from what I’ve seen of the prima it’s very bland to me except for the regular rooms that have the beautiful blue and those are rooms are gorgeous but the Haven rooms the color scheme they chose yuck yuck yuck yuck that’s just me

We were in Juneau this past summer and because of YOUR channel we tried a duck fart! I rarely drink anything as I’m just not a fan of alcohol and my husband doesn’t like whisky but it wasn’t bad and a fun experience! Glad we did it and got the T-shirt😂😂

I enjoyed your video. I went to Alaska late August for my 60th birthday it rained every day that I was there, but it was still beautiful. What month are y'all in Alaska because I'm going to try to go again, but I'm going to try a different month and maybe the weather will be better.
