    I love living vicariously through the 2 of you. I was on the Bliss in April. I absolutely loved Skagway. Ever since I debarked I have felt like Jack from “Lost,” saying, “I have to go back!” So I am June 2024. Juneau again, new to me Sitka instead of Skagway, Ketchikan, and new to me Icy Straight Point. Can’t wait to someday do the land tour with Holland or Princess. However, the next huge trip after Alaska the Return will probably be a combo of Disney Aulani and Pride of America trip for my 50th birthday. 😊

    Just did cruisetour of Alaska on NCL Jewel. Our land portion was last because the ship only sailed Glacier Bay on their northbound cruises and we weren't going to miss that! Definitely agree that the land portion is exhausting, but getting to visit Denali and Fairbanks was absolutely worth it😊😊😊😊😊

    Next time in Skagway, you really need to do the old fashioned car city tour. Their buses look like the ones you saw in Fairbanks. They only have female drivers, and they dress in 1890's gear. Our driver is married to one of the guys who works on the White Rail Pass, and they are year round residents. One of the stops on the tour is in that lodge building and you'll get the history of it. The best part of the tour is the cemetery. Yes, the cemetery tour was a hoot. Soapy Smith is buried there. Actually, he was buried right outside the cemetery, because he was a bad guy. Best Alaskan tour in Skagway.

    This is ANOTHER HOME RUN info video....just thinking about those men in the Gold Rush years blows my mind vs today's world! Did you know that many of the vendors in Alaska utilize RV workampers for seasonal positions? Stores, hotels, bus drivers, train etc. We currently have full time RV friends both workamping in Skagway, he as a tour driver, she in a retail store! Sounds like the best way to take the land portion and then the cruise is the best option for energy purposes! Keep giving us these fabulous videos!

    The really crazy thing about those 400-500 pound sleds being dragged through the mountains is that they had to make that trip through the pass 4 or 5 times before they could start looking for gold. There were specific requirements of goods needed totalling about 2000 pounds before they were able to enter Canada. Amazing determination!

    You know, with 3-4 ships per day and 15-20,000 people per day in Skagway, I think that bartender meant 2,000 reindeer shots PER DAY.
    We just stopped through and their was a line out the door, we did the White Pass RR, came back and there was still a line out the door.
    I'm thinking 2,000 shots per day. Nice video.

    Is Holland America the only cruise line that u can embark in the middle of a cruise? I think all cruise lines should let u board & disembark wen u want & charge a nightly fee like a hotel. ❤

  • @PhillProbst

    So I gather the cruise company (Holland America in this case) handles the formalities involved in the border crossing (customs, passports, etc.)?

    • @MD-px4tg
      @MD-px4tg Год назад

      We did this exact crossing by bus also, in June. A border patrol agent comes onto the buses and checks everyone’s face to passport. Nothing to do with the cruiselines. Regular cars/RVs in line going through the same process.

    Women now own Red Onion Saloon. If you think about it, it is rather funny that what was once a brothel owned by a man who had women in service, now woman own it and the men there are now paid as "service" workers. I know that sounds warped. lol

  • @markolwick2223
    @markolwick2223 Год назад +1

    To be honest, it kinda feels like you’re no longer in touch with us “regular folks” when you have Holland America flying you around on private jets, giving you free tours, free balcony rooms, etc. I’m not begrudging you for taking it (heck, I’d jump on it too!), it’s just about being transparent about it being a paid promo trip. Basically an ad for Holland America.

    • @EECCTravels
      @EECCTravels  Год назад

      We pay for almost every trip we take, and at full price. But it is nice to be able to show something different. And this tour was not created for us. There were 5 media members on this tour and everyone else booked it in their own. They all had the same exact transportation (flights, train, etc) as we did. And the videos are marked with a paid promotion. It is a great trip and we plan to do a cruise tour next year on our own.

    In the video, it looks like the cabin # is 5006, but that can't be right. Our layout for the cruise we are taking to Hawaii in Jan, looks just like that. Bad news for us, because my wife has a mobility scooter. It folds up, but not that much. Really appreciate the videos!
