That is impressive! Any issues for other HX owners to be on the look out for along the way? The previous owner of mine mentioned the EGR ports and manifold had built up carbon and were cleaned out after CEL for Insufficient EGR Flow. The clutch switch pads were a head scratcher for me, but now I know the issue is common on these Hondas
@@gearswitch5692 Frequent oil changes, and keep an eye on your transmission output shaft seals. Both sides of mine were leaking pretty good. Cross referenced the seals and it came back as OEM Honda. Most of our distributors on these HX models will end up leaking as well. All in all, every suspension component is still factory. Not bad for a Honda from 1996.
@@gearswitch5692 Just generic maintenance items. I can say, my Inner tie rods have a little play, so that’ll be my next maintenance item. I plan on doing wheel hub bearings after that as well.
@@JuanRodriguez-ek9ud Thank you for sharing! I replaced the inner and outer tie rod ends on mine with oem boots. I even purchased the special 40mm steering rack adjustment tool to tighten the rack up. However, all together it did little to help the play on center and there is a slow leak from the seals. I'll be replacing the rack this fall.
From new, these were just as rubbery. I get in a lot of them and a lot of them feel exactly the same to shift as they did when new. Just as I remember them.
Yes, even the EX model came with drums surprisingly, but the Si and Integras did not. I keep a pretty detailed maintenance/parts log and the conversion totaled ~ $1200 with all the new suspension OEM arms & bushings that make sense to do at the same time. That was with some good buys and sales. It took me longer than I expected to complete the work, but it was also my first time going through it, late fall and working under jack stands rather than a lift. Budget at least 8hrs if you take your time and are working under similar conditions. If you need a parts breakdown let me know and I can post what I have in the description.

Love the car. I’ve got a 96 HX, currently at 527,550 miles and counting.

I cleaned the EGR manifold and made the mistake of throwing away the EGR plate gasket, that part is no longer available anywhere. Save your gasket.
Thanks for the heads up!
Polish up the headlight lenses with a scratch remover liquid.
That is def on my list of items to get to. I'm taking care of mechanicals first, but I will find the time eventually

Thanks for that insight!

How much did it cost to convert the rear drums to rotors? Was it a lot of work? I didnt know these came with drums
