Cheapest and most effective way to polish 986 Boxster headlights. No kit!
I bought sandpaper from my local hardware store for about .30c per sheet. I started sanding with at 400 grit and worked my way up to 600, 1000, 1500, 2000, 2500. I sprayed the headlight with plain water to keep it wet throughout the sanding.
Once sanded, I used a drill with buffing compound and then put three coats of wax on it. Super simple and better than any kit I have used by far!

Sneak Peek: 1999 Civic HX to Civic EX, Acura Integra Exhaust Conversion

I picked up a low mileage Acura Integra exhaust for my Civic HX! Why? A few reasons. 1. The current exhaust has leaks. Corrosion from 210k miles would make replacing components difficult. If I am going through the trouble it’s time to upgrade. 2. Performance. This was the last stepped primary header available from Hedman. That wax provides minimal protection. I prefer Megs UV clear spray, but TW has another product you might consider using instead. The bottle will last you years and you apply it several times per year. It's Turtle Wax 2-in-1 headlight cleaner and sealant. You did the hard work already, if you use this stuff regularly you probably won't have to sand the lenses again.

    Just subscribed to your channel. I was looking at your review on the BRZ. Glad I caught your review. I'm retired now and didn't want something that wasn't reliable. Can you give me an idea on what Miata or something similar that's a good sports car? I would like some more power though. I've had two 67 Camaros back in the seventies and for the time they were great. I've always liked the Camaros and the mustangs. I'm going to start researching again lol. I can't afford more than 30k though. Any thoughts from you would be greatly appreciated.

    • @gearswitch5692
      @gearswitch5692 4 месяца назад

      Sure thing, first thing I would say is to make a short list once you start doing research. Before you spend too much time thinking about a specific make and model, find a local example to drive (even if it isn't perfect) to get an idea of how it drives and the ergonomics. This could save you lots of time if it doesn't quite stack up on the drive. Car reviews, even the best written, will never truly capture how you may feel about a car as unique individual. Fun cars that come to mind based on muscle car past, but want for reliability under 30k: -350z/370z (torque and reliability. drives more serious than miata, think of it like a mini Nissan-vette) -NC Miata 2006-2015 (biggest of the Miatas and currently the gen w/best value) -ND Miata (full warranty, very reliable, great power and mpg too. Look into SCCA Mazda S plan pricing and a brand new ND for under $30k is possible. very small interior) grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/986-vs-miata-comparison/182783/page1/

      Hey, I did research at the time in multiple forums and that was the assessment I came to. Here is one thread as an example: www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11990 While cold air intake (CAI) manufacturers website may sell you on the idea, it is worth looking for other points of view before coming to a decision. On most modern naturally aspirated cars that I have modified, at best a CAI shifts hp up the rpm band, producing high rpm gains at the expense of low rpm power/torque. This may have not been the case 25yrs ago when auto makers left more hp on the table.

    From new, these were just as rubbery. I get in a lot of them and a lot of them feel exactly the same to shift as they did when new. Just as I remember them.

    Sorry you had such a rough time. Most I know are into the ownership for 100k+ with no issues but you can’t discount there are a few lemons out there as with all cars and manufacturers. Still loving mine. Best handling car under a Porsche for sure.

      I agree with you 100% on it being such a great handling platform. Glad you are having better luck with yours! My experience was enough to keep me away from the Subaru brand for good. If Toyota manufactured the engine on the next redesign I would be making a down payment.

      @@gearswitch5692 I’ve heard rumours that may become the case. 🤞🏻
