4 years ago this was my logic of thinking too..5k-6k is still a huge huge amount of money in those years....so i bought “alternative” bags believing it will cover up my obsession for the classic bag...but i was wrong because at the back of my mind i still want and still thought about a classic flap.Despite the huge price increase i finally got one...if you really like the bag and you have the funds get it now.Price will still continue to rise until it will be very impossible to obtain one....
Chanel is an investment piece but also very hard to sell. People would rather buy a new one than the second hand ones because the price difference is not a huge gap.

Seasonal bags are a good alternative. Everyone and their mum have got a black classic flap. Early in the 2010s it was a goal of mine, then I forgot about it, and now not only do I think it looks grandma-ish but the prices are just mental! At least a seasonal bag is different and may have more of an edge, even though they're still 3k

I've always wanted the classic flap. But when I was in Uni I didn't have the money and now I don't want to spend the money as it's like twice as much as 3 years ago. I went for the YSL Lou camera bag. Yes it's different, but Black, quilted with a beautiful Logo. Plus just a fraction of the CC price. And I even prefer this style as it's younger and more suitable for me in my 20s imo.
I’ll throw the Chanel reissue into the mix. It doesn’t hold its value like the classic flap, so definitely buy it on the preloved market. I have one and love it over the classic flap. Suits my style better.

I remember purchasing my first (and to date only) Chanel bag in mid-2019 and thinking how unfortunate it was I had gotten it after a few price increases. Little did I know that had I waited even 6 months I would have been basically priced out. The bag I have now costs significantly more than each of my first 3 vehicles. I cannot believe it. I'm sad for those who haven't been able to get their dream bag but I think there are honestly loads of beautiful alternatives out there that we can engage with instead.
I just purchased my first Chanel, the 22p flap bag in black caviar and I love it! As far as versatility, I like it better than the classic especially since I like to wear my bags crossbody. 💖

I think the Hermes bag i very nice as an alternative. But for me I think YSL bags are SO pretty. I like the the ysl logo and for the bags I have from YSL the quality is very good so far. YSL is similar to Chanel. But the price is WAY better. I can only say that a Chanel bag has been on my wishlist for years but I think they are to expensive now and I not sure that the quality is that good.

Bulgari is such an underrated brand. Even their sunglasses come in great packaging with the nicest case I’ve ever seen. That bag gives £6k a lot more than Chanel tbh. Chanel CF looks like a good £4K IMO

Love today’s video! Personally I am and never was a fan of the classic flap because A. It is such a common bag(no fun at all), B. It is ridiculously expensive just to get it because it’s a ‘classic’ piece, C. lack of quality that doesn’t follow up the price increase. Honestly I don’t get a hype. In Korea, you actually have to wait in line hours before the boutique opens to get a classic flap and sometimes you might not even get it that day. I mean for a classic flap? Really? Sometimes its hard to see people who go straight in to the ‘channel price increase marketing trap’ and i hate that channel is manipulaiting the consumers. And I totally agree with you on the seasonal channel pieces alternatives! Seasonal bags are so underrated. Investment, and classic is all good, but last never forget your personal style!

I love the Louis Vuitton Twist! I found out that you can actually remove the chain and just use the Leather strip as a handle. (But it’s pretty difficult to take the chain off though. 😂)

I’m a total Chanel girl and I have the Bvlgari green Serpenti. I love this bag so much I even bought it despite the fact that it has compartments....and I HATE compartments.
I finally grew a pair and queued up to look at the classic flap in person and I have to say, I no longer think it's my vibe. It's very rigid looking, it gives off a rigid feeling, and paired with the price, it's now a pass. I appreciate the alternatives you suggested and would also say going to vintage used route might be a good option for some who might prefer that worn in feel.
The Bulgaria bags have my heart, I dare say a bit more than the Chanel, don't get me wrong I'd take a Chanel in a heartbeat but the craftsmanship of the Bulgaria is so beautiful,classic but edgy all at once. I bought my first Bulgari bag a few months ago, a karung skin bucket bag. It is gorgeous! I think Bulgari is the most under rated brand, but has the best quality and most interesting design elements, at a price that is actually quite good for what you get.

Idk if it’s the over saturation on social media or what…but I crossed a channel classic flap off of my list over a year ago. For years and years I saved and waited and wanted one so badly. And then one day I was just kind of like “WHY? Why do I want one so much?” So, I looked at a few in person and decided that the ends just didn’t justify the means. I love these suggestions. I also love seeing more from other brands, especially brands that are often over looked but have continued to have much better workmanship and quality than Chanel. Let’s face it, Chanel will always be Chanel and people will always want and pay for it. But the classics don’t need to be my cup of tea just because they are classics. It’s important to come into your own style and find what works for you.
These were all great alternatives. Bvlgari is definitely if you know, you know. I really do wish Chanel would slow their roll with these price increases though...it's upsetting me that I still want one 😩😂

They are beautiful bags that are definitely worth the money. I also love everything about the Caro except the logo. That’s what has kept me from buying.
I feel so validated! I‘ve been saying that the Caro is a great CF "replacement". At half the price, it‘s not even a question for me! (I‘m always more impressed with Dior‘s quality anyway). They also have a Caro Clutch/Belt bag that looks a lot like a Chanel WoC. Cassie I‘d love to know what your mom thinks about Chanel‘s increases. Does she still think CFs are worth it or is she gravitating more towards Hermes now? I love the Bvlgari in theory, I wish I could pull it off!

I would also recommend the YSL Envelope bag--it has a similar profile as the Classic Flap but a bit more "fancy but still rock and roll."

Bulgari is such an underrated brand. Even their sunglasses come in great packaging with the nicest case I’ve ever seen. That bag gives £6k a lot more than Chanel tbh. Chanel CF looks like a good £4K IMO

Love today’s video! Personally I am and never was a fan of the classic flap because A. It is such a common bag(no fun at all),
B. It is ridiculously expensive just to get it because it’s a ‘classic’ piece,
C. lack of quality that doesn’t follow up the price increase.
Honestly I don’t get a hype. In Korea, you actually have to wait in line hours before the boutique opens to get a classic flap and sometimes you might not even get it that day. I mean for a classic flap? Really? Sometimes its hard to see people who go straight in to the ‘channel price increase marketing trap’ and i hate that channel is manipulaiting the consumers.
And I totally agree with you on the seasonal channel pieces alternatives! Seasonal bags are so underrated. Investment, and classic is all good, but last never forget your personal style!

I love the Louis Vuitton Twist! I found out that you can actually remove the chain and just use the Leather strip as a handle. (But it’s pretty difficult to take the chain off though. 😂)

I finally grew a pair and queued up to look at the classic flap in person and I have to say, I no longer think it's my vibe. It's very rigid looking, it gives off a rigid feeling, and paired with the price, it's now a pass. I appreciate the alternatives you suggested and would also say going to vintage used route might be a good option for some who might prefer that worn in feel.

I bought my first Bulgari bag a few months ago, a karung skin bucket bag. It is gorgeous! I think Bulgari is the most under rated brand, but has the best quality and most interesting design elements, at a price that is actually quite good for what you get.

Idk if it’s the over saturation on social media or what…but I crossed a channel classic flap off of my list over a year ago. For years and years I saved and waited and wanted one so badly. And then one day I was just kind of like “WHY? Why do I want one so much?” So, I looked at a few in person and decided that the ends just didn’t justify the means. I love these suggestions. I also love seeing more from other brands, especially brands that are often over looked but have continued to have much better workmanship and quality than Chanel. Let’s face it, Chanel will always be Chanel and people will always want and pay for it. But the classics don’t need to be my cup of tea just because they are classics. It’s important to come into your own style and find what works for you.

I feel so validated! I‘ve been saying that the Caro is a great CF "replacement". At half the price, it‘s not even a question for me! (I‘m always more impressed with Dior‘s quality anyway). They also have a Caro Clutch/Belt bag that looks a lot like a Chanel WoC.

I am really curious to see where Dior takes the Caro line. Imho they really have the chance to make more classic and long lasting designs that can compete with Chanel longterm. Dior is obviously going to raise their prices as well but if it happens at a reasonable rate, Dior will soon seem like a bargain compared to Chanel. Also… can Chanel keep up the demand under Virginie Viard? I‘m not convinced. It‘ll be super interesting to see how this plays out!
